According to records, Myth Louis-Jeune, 36, was charged in January 2026 with misdemeanor battery for allegedly striking inmate Spencer Butler during an incident on March 1, 2023, at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center. Video shows the encounter happening around 8:53 p.m. inside an elevator, where the officer appears to repeatedly hit Butler. Body camera footage from the following morning shows Butler upset, telling officers he had been beaten. In another video, Butler is seen being taken to a shower area to be decontaminated after being pepper-sprayed. Louis-Jeune’s attorney said the officer was acting in self-defense and described Butler as an uncooperative and violent inmate. The officer has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. Prosecutors said the delay in filing charges was due to a request from the officer’s previous defense attorney to review evidence and present possible expert analysis. Records also show Louis-Jeune had previously been suspended for a separate use-of-force incident in 2021. Miami-Dade Corrections said the officer has been relieved of duty with pay while the case moves forward.
