The incident, which took place on August 14, 2023, has left the community and law enforcement officials reeling. That evening, Officer Hair and colleagues arrested multiple suspects, including a woman with an outstanding warrant, at Denver Street and Clairemont Avenue. While transporting her to the Las Colinas Detention Center, Hair deactivated his body camera and entered the backseat, claiming a medical emergency. GPS data showed the cruiser stopped on a dark street, and traces of semen were found on Hair's belt. Both denied any misconduct, but the woman reported unprofessional behavior by Hair. He resigned on September 14, declining further investigation. The San Diego Police Department is still investigating.
