On the 11th of January 2019, an elderly man named Danny Lim was protesting with his sign in Barangaroo Sydney. A public member reported the sign offensive, and police approached Mr Lim shortly after. A struggle ensued after the officers attempted to remove the sign from Mr Lim's abdomen; he was handcuffed while a crowd was gathering. Witnesses of the arrest were shocked, with some coming forward to the officer questioning the reason for the arrest. Lim was fined and charged $500 for offensive behaviour. Mr Lim fought the fine in court, and it was overturned in Mr Lim's favour. Want more policing content?
