A Florida sixth-grade teacher is facing a child abuse charge after investigators say she allegedly directed one student to slap another student inside a classroom at Lee Middle School in Manatee County. According to investigators, 64-year-old Judith Clark repeatedly told a student to stop talking during class before allegedly asking the classroom, “Who wants to slap him?” When no student volunteered, detectives say she later instructed two students to close the classroom blinds before directing another student to slap the classmate. Investigators interviewed multiple students and school staff members as they worked to establish what happened inside the classroom. The student who allegedly carried out the slap told detectives he was afraid to disobey the teacher and is not facing criminal charges. Clark was later arrested and booked on a charge of child abuse without great bodily harm.
