On July 21st, 2023, Officers of the South River Police Department (NJ) responded to the parking lot of a Pantry One for a report of a minor motor vehicle accident. While on location, officers spoke with an involved female driver who exhibited signs of impairment. Officers conducted field sobriety testing in which probable cause was developed to believe the female was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She was then arrested. The female was later evaluated by medical professionals and opted to go to a local hospital for further evaluation. As a result, officers were unable to collect a breath sample and requested consent from the female to collect a sample of her blood to which she provided. Once at the hospital, she provided a sample of her blood but adamantly maintained that she had not operated her vehicle under the influence. She stated that she had taken prescription medication in accordance with what she is prescribed by her doctor.
