On December 16, 2023, deputies were called to the Cities of Gold casino in Pojoaque, New Mexico, after a reported domestic disturbance. Tribal police handled the arrest of Jasmine Garcia's boyfriend while Santa Fe County deputies tried to arrange a safe ride for her. Garcia disputed the arrest and repeatedly said they had a designated driver. Officers told her she was free to leave but could not drive, offered help arranging transportation, and discussed a ride to a hotel. The deputy explicitly said he would not pay for the room. After further warnings, she got behind the wheel of her Honda. The footage shows the vehicle being stopped in the parking lot, her removal from the car, an implied-consent advisory and refusal, a roadside stop during transport, and arrival at the detention center.
