On January 9, 2026, at approximately 2:12 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on US-101 near the I-110 interchange in Los Angeles, California. Officers observed a dark-colored sedan traveling at an estimated speed of approximately 90 mph in a 55-mph zone while weaving across lanes. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle eventually exited the freeway before coming to a stop on Downey Road. During contact with the driver, officers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage, along with additional signs consistent with alcohol impairment. The driver was asked to perform field sobriety tests, during which multiple indicators of impairment were observed. A preliminary alcohol screening (PAS) test was administered, producing results of approximately 0.215% BAC. A chemical breath test later recorded results of approximately 0.206% and 0.199% BAC. During the investigation, dispatch advised that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the Los Angeles area. The driver was taken into custody and transported for further processing. Additional evidence recovered during the investigation included a professional key programming tool located inside the vehicle.
