Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the critical moment when officers discover substantial drug evidence in a rental vehicle during a La Crosse trafficking investigation. This bodycam video documents the systematic progression from initial contact to evidence seizure that transforms a routine stop into a major narcotics case.

In this police bodycam footage, an officer makes a significant discovery at timestamp 18:06: "There's a huge bag of meth in here." This exclamation, captured on the bodycam, marks the moment when reasonable suspicion transforms into probable cause for arrest. The officer immediately connects this evidence to their suspect: "There's like, uh, um, so this is the girl that tried getting in that Caprice."

The officer then explains the systematic approach that led to this discovery: "Yeah. So, I, I went to get the license plate. I came up, just started talking to her, smelled marijuana." This methodical process, recorded on police bodycam, demonstrates textbook procedure for developing probable cause from initial observation to conversation. The officer notes the suspect's admission and rental vehicle status: "She s- admitted somebody was smoking in there earlier. Um, she just said she got the car this morning from Rental Enterprise. So cool. Okay, yeah."

With evidence in hand, the officers discuss next steps at timestamp 18:35: "She's in the back seat of my car. Perfect." They confirm the nature of the substances: "I'm assuming that's meth, and I'm assuming that's-" A second officer affirms: "Yep." The first officer continues: "cocaine or-" receiving another confirmation: "Yep." The substance identification prompts immediate procedural action: "fentanyl. That's good. I'll go talk to her. I'll read her her rights. Nice. Good work."

A final observation at timestamp 18:50 reinforces the initial probable cause: "So, she just- Well, this reeks like weed." This comment, documented on bodycam, connects back to the initial marijuana odor that justified further investigation.

According to police reports, this February 3, 2023 incident led to the arrest of 43-year-old Drae Shaun Broadnax on multiple felony charges including possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. A search of the vehicle ultimately revealed 56.4 grams of methamphetamine, 7.5 grams of cocaine, 5.3 grams of marijuana, and substantial cash.

This police bodycam footage highlights the critical progression from initial contact to evidence discovery that triggers Miranda rights, demonstrating how trained observation and systematic procedure transform suspicious circumstances into solid evidence for prosecution.
