Fayette County, Georgia — On March 11, 2024, Fayette County deputies located a silver Honda Civic that had been car-jacked at gunpoint earlier in the morning. Investigator Fisher was the first to locate the vehicle at HWY 85 South and Stonewall Avenue and notified dispatch and his fellow Deputies. Inv. Fisher was prepared to initiate a felony stop, as they had multiple deputies in the area. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and City of Fayetteville Public Safety took action and followed the driver on a short pursuit. Sergeant Akin took the lead on the pursuit and followed the driver as he crashed into road signs, mailboxes, and another vehicle, the driver then decided to exit his vehicle with a weapon. He initially exited the vehicle with a gun but decided to surrender when he realized he was surrounded. The driver will be charged with Theft by Receiving, Fleeing, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.
