Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the concerning aftermath of a DUI arrest when officers discover children still inside a truck that had nearly crashed into a tree. This bodycam video documents the urgent arrangements made for minors left vulnerable after multiple family members were taken into custody.

In this police bodycam footage from November 7, 2024, Lady Lake Police officers are dealing with the chaotic aftermath of stopping a truck pulling a trailer with two cars. The driver, 37-year-old Josephine Cordova Alfaro, had refused to pull over, eventually running off Marion County Road and nearly striking a tree before being arrested for DUI and child neglect.

The footage captures a critical moment of concern as officers note: "Kids are still in the truck. Okay. Yeah well wait." This observation, recorded on bodycam, highlights the immediate safety issue of minors remaining in the vehicle after the adults' arrest - a situation that required immediate resolution.

An officer relays information about the arrangements being made: "The daughter's... the daughter's on the way to her—" Another officer interrupts with additional context: "She's on the phone with somebody." The first officer confirms: "The 17-year-old daughter's coming to get them." This exchange, documented on police bodycam, reveals the improvised childcare solution being coordinated amid the arrests of multiple family members.

An officer acknowledges this plan: "Okay. Yeah she... she... she lives right down the road. Yeah. She's coming to get them." The conversation continues regarding additional logistics: "Um, she's gonna get the dog. We'll go from there all right." This brief planning session, captured on bodycam, demonstrates how officers must quickly address child welfare concerns that arise during arrests.

According to the arrest report, this incident involved multiple family members including Josephine, 34-year-old Abraham Cordova Alfaro who had to be tasered for non-compliance, and 18-year-old Amram Guardado who became hostile with police. The presence of children in a vehicle operated by an intoxicated driver led to child neglect charges in addition to DUI for Josephine.

This police bodycam footage highlights the often overlooked consequences of DUI arrests on dependent children, showing how officers must quickly establish safe arrangements for minors when parents or guardians are taken into custody.
