Description

An Akron police lieutenant was found to have committed sexual harassment — and instead of being fired, he was placed on paid terminal leave.

According to investigative reporting, Lt. Brian Simcox will receive more than $100,000 in salary while staying home, along with 480 hours of comp time and 233 hours of sick leave, before his employment officially ends.

This wasn’t his first issue.

In 2018, Simcox was suspended and demoted after illegally searching a female suspect’s phone, finding private photos, and sharing them with other officers.

Even more disturbing — the substantiated harassment occurred during the funeral service of a fallen officer, a moment meant to represent professionalism, dignity, and respect.

This video breaks down:
• The investigation findings
• The paid “terminal leave” system
• The pattern of misconduct
• And why police accountability often looks very different from everyone else’s

If this happened at your job, would the outcome be the same?
