Description

On May 23, 2026, law enforcement responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an active shooter at a housing complex on Indian Settlement Road in Mole Lake, Wisconsin.

Callers reported that Floyd R. Vanzile Jr. had fired shots inside the building before going outside in his wheelchair while armed with a rifle.

Responding officers took cover as Vanzile opened fire toward law enforcement vehicles. Officers returned fire during the encounter.

This video shows the incident from two different body-worn camera perspectives.

Vanzile died at the scene. No law enforcement officers or other members of the public were injured.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation investigated the officer-involved shooting. The investigation was reviewed by the Dodge County District Attorney's Office, which determined there was no basis to prosecute the involved law enforcement officers.

The footage shown here was released as a public record by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Viewer discretion advised. This video contains intense gunfire and an officer-involved shooting. Graphic imagery of the deceased was redacted from the publicly released footage.
