Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures officers discussing the critical tactical decisions made during a high-speed chase with children in the vehicle. This bodycam video documents the professional assessment of pursuit intervention techniques and the life-saving considerations that guided their actions.

In this police bodycam footage, a deputy reflects on his momentary hesitation before deploying tire deflation devices: "I almost wasn't gonna spike her, then would I was like, man..." This candid admission, captured on the bodycam, reveals the complex risk calculations officers must make in fractions of seconds during pursuits, particularly with children involved.

After a brief acknowledgment with "Okay, okay," the deputy explains the environmental factors that ultimately supported his decision: "But it was a straightaway, it was perfect." This tactical assessment, recorded on police bodycam, demonstrates how officers evaluate road conditions, traffic patterns, and vehicle positioning when determining the safest moment for intervention.

The deputy continues analyzing what might have happened without intervention: "I was- gonna go 10-95 with her then. There wasn't no other traffic." This reference to potentially performing a direct vehicle interception (10-95), documented on bodycam, shows the escalating options considered if the tire deflation had not been successful.

Another officer affirms the effectiveness of the chosen tactic: "That's why I just kind of stopped her without- That's what I'm saying, you see it did work because she came straight to a stop." This validation, captured on police bodycam, confirms that the least aggressive option successfully terminated the pursuit without injury to the children.

The deputy reveals his jurisdictional boundary contingency plan: "If we would have hit the county line I would have terminated." This statement acknowledges the established pursuit protocols that require constant reassessment of risk versus public safety.

The conversation shifts to procedural matters with "Okay. You called the wrecker already, right? Just called the wrecker already. I'll go 10-95 with her. Okay. Go from there," before returning to the welfare of the children: "Okay. Get the CPS number when you get up there." This attention to Child Protective Services logistics, documented on bodycam, shows the immediate transition to addressing the children's needs once the pursuit ended.

According to police reports, this January 31, 2024 incident in Fayette County, Texas involved Clorisa Franklin fleeing from police at speeds exceeding 100 mph with three children under 10 in the backseat. The chase ended successfully after tire deflation devices were deployed, allowing for the safe apprehension of Franklin and protection of the children from further danger.

This police bodycam footage highlights the complex tactical decision-making process during high-risk pursuits, particularly the careful balance between apprehending dangerous fugitives and protecting innocent passengers, especially children.
