Description

REAL POLICE BODYCAM footage captures the tense moment when a fugitive mother's custody claims directly contradict the felony warrant for her arrest. This bodycam video documents a critical confrontation about parental rights that reveals the complex legal disputes underlying an interstate chase with three children.

In this police bodycam footage, a deputy addresses the central issue with Clorisa Franklin: "The problem is is you're... The kids you're not supposed to be around." This direct statement, captured on the bodycam, confronts Franklin with the fundamental legal problem—her presence with the very children she was legally prohibited from contacting.

Franklin immediately disputes this assertion: "Yes I am. I have full custody of my kids." This confident counterclaim, recorded on police bodycam, establishes her position that her custody is legitimate despite the active warrants suggesting otherwise.

The deputy maintains professional distance from the dispute: "I'm just telling you what the warrant says," avoiding direct engagement with her claim while focusing on the documented legal instruments guiding his actions. Franklin responds with "I have... Okay, do you have paperwork with you?" suggesting she possesses documentation supporting her custody claim.

When she confirms "Yes I do," the deputy requests verification: "Okay. Do you have it?" This request for evidence, documented on bodycam, represents proper procedure when suspects make claims contradicting official records. Franklin doesn't produce documents but instead questions the source of the prohibition: "I'm not supposed to be here without my kids? Says who?"

The deputy again references the official source: "I'm going by what the... the county tells me," to which Franklin responds with a partially audible statement about needing to "be here without my kids." She adds "All I want is oldest kids," suggesting a possible focus on specific children among the three found in her vehicle.

The deputy concludes by characterizing the fundamental legal issue: "It's a custodial thing evidently is what they're saying, this one," confirming that the core matter involves disputed custody rights across state lines.

According to police reports, this January 31, 2024 incident in Fayette County, Texas began when a deputy discovered Franklin had a felony warrant from New Mexico specifically for "interference with right to custody" along with another felony warrant from Brazoria County, Texas. Classified as "armed and dangerous" with nationwide extradition authorization, Franklin fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph with three children under 10 in her vehicle before being stopped with tire deflation devices.

This police bodycam footage highlights the complex intersection of interstate custody disputes, conflicting legal claims, and the dangerous decisions that can place children at risk when parents take custody matters into their own hands rather than working through proper legal channels.
