On August 14, 2025 at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Orlando, Florida, officers stopped a Tesla for not displaying a license plate. When police approached, the officer asked the driver to lower the rear window because the tint was too dark to safely see inside. The driver immediately challenged the stop and refused to comply.

The driver would not provide her full name, ID, proof of insurance, or registration—claiming she was not “contracted” with law enforcement and insisting she wasn’t driving, she was “traveling” to take her daughter to school. What starts as a simple equipment/plate stop quickly turns into a tense back-and-forth where officers repeatedly explain lawful commands, document the refusal, and ultimately remove the driver from the vehicle.

Charges & outcome:
Candace was charged with Resisting Without Violence, she was also cited for No Tag Displayed, Registration Not Carried, License Not Carried, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving on a Suspended License. Her license had expired in 2024. Candace took the case to trial, a jury found her guilty, and she is now appealing the decision.
