Description

We present the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) body camera footage of the arrest of Sara Marie Swanson, which occurred on November 19, 2023, in Palm Beach County, Florida. This video provides a detailed, unedited look at a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) investigation that quickly escalated into a confrontational incident, highlighting the unpredictable and challenging interactions law enforcement officers face every day.

The footage captures the moments leading up to and during the arrest, involving an initial traffic stop where officers suspected Ms. Swanson was impaired. The situation became volatile, leading the officers to file serious initial charges, including Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, and Battery on an Officer, Firefighter, or Medical Care Provider. Viewers will witness the professional response of the West Palm Beach Police officers as they worked to secure the scene and safely detain the individual, demonstrating the need for swift and decisive action in high-tension scenarios.

This video is an educational look at the beginning stages of a criminal case. Public court records from the Florida Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court (Case No. 50-2023-CF-009921-AXXX-MB) indicate that on December 19, 2023, the felony charges of Battery on an Officer and Failure to Obey a Lawful Order were officially 'No Filed.' The charges related to DUI and Resisting an Officer Without Violence were 'Down Filed' and transferred to a separate misdemeanor case (Case No. 50-2023-MM-010757-AXXX-MB) for continued prosecution. This bodycam footage offers a raw, firsthand perspective on the entire process, from the initial contact to the official charges being logged.
