Description

What started as a routine shoplifting call quickly turned into a violent confrontation.
Police responded to a report of a suspected shoplifter and identified the suspect as 49-year-old Latonya Evans. Initially, officers attempted to handle the situation calmly, giving clear verbal commands and asking her to cooperate.
However, things escalated fast.
During the arrest, Evans resisted officers, stomped on an officer’s foot, and allegedly bit a police officer during the struggle. What began as a minor shoplifting incident quickly turned into a much more serious situation.
She was eventually taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including shoplifting, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.
This bodycam footage highlights how quickly situations can escalate — and how one decision can change everything.
