Description
On September 14, 2026, Arkansas State Police Trooper Collier Wright responded to an unfolding pursuit involving a gold Toyota Corolla in Crittenden County.
According to the report, West Memphis Police initially reported that the vehicle was failing to yield. Officers also reported that a train was blocking the roadway, forcing the vehicle to turn around and continue in another direction.
As officers continued monitoring the vehicle, they reported several concerning driving behaviors. The Corolla allegedly passed tractor-trailers while crossing double yellow lines and drove through residential yards. Officers also reported that the vehicle was being operated erratically.
Trooper Wright approached the vehicle without lights and sirens before eventually making contact. When the driver noticed the trooper, the vehicle accelerated, reportedly causing the driver to lose traction and nearly crash during a turn.
The trooper then activated his emergency equipment and attempted to bring the vehicle to a stop. The driver continued driving and repeatedly attempted to get around the patrol vehicle.
Trooper Wright ultimately positioned his patrol vehicle in front of the Corolla and slowed it until it stopped on the shoulder. West Memphis officers then assisted in taking the driver into custody.
A particularly important detail is that a 3-year-old child was inside the vehicle and was secured in a car seat. DHS responded and took custody of the child.

Possible Charges
Fleeing by Vehicle
Reckless Driving
Driving While License Suspended
No Liability Insurance
Expired / Improper Registration
Seat Belt Violation
The report states that the driver was not wearing a seat belt when removed from the vehicle. Arkansas law generally requires drivers and front-seat passengers to wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt.
Child Passenger Safety
I would not automatically list this as a charge based on this report.
The report specifically states that the 3-year-old child was secured in a car seat. Arkansas law requires appropriate child restraint for children under 15, with specific requirements based on age and weight.
So, unlike the driver's seat-belt issue, the report does not provide evidence that the child was improperly restrained.
Important Note About Intoxication
The report says a West Memphis officer believed the driver appeared to be highly intoxicated. However, Trooper Wright's report states that SFSTs were conducted at the jail and the driver did not appear to be intoxicated.
Therefore, I would not put DWI/DUI in the charges section based on this report alone.
