So, we're just parking the car cuz we went to our friend's house. >> Oh, >> are we able to park here? >> Well, um it just seems odd to be parking here and trekking over there. >> Oh, no, no, no. We live over at the retreat. We're just going to our friend's house. >> Okay. And you were driving? >> No. >> Who uh who is driving? >> Oh, I'm not driving right now. >> But you were driving just a moment ago. just like from that neighborhood over to here. >> Okay. How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Uh, probably like one drink. >> On July 13th, 2022 at approximately 12:59 a.m., Officer Heidi Lamley with the Pullman Police Department was turning onto Northwood Drive from 1590 any Northwood Drive, and she observed a southbound silver 2009 Honda CRV driving in the lane of oncoming traffic on Northwood Drive. After the vehicle passed her, she observed the driver quickly moved to the side of the road without signaling and stop. For occupants of the vehicle exited and attempted to walk away on foot, a petite female was observed exiting from the driver's seat, and she was later identified as 20-year-old Alexia Bramblelet. >> Pullman 47, I'll be out with a group and a possible DUI driver. >> Sorry, am I being pulled over right now? >> Yeah. um be near Northwood. So, um you appear to be intoxicated to me and you were just driving that vehicle, which did catch my attention, especially when you whip over to the side. >> So, do you have your driver's license on you? >> I do not. It's at my house. >> Okay. All right. Officer Lambly made contact with Alexia and asked her why she was parked there. She told officer Lambly that they were headed to their friend's place and that they usually parked there since it seemed unusual for someone to park there. She initiated a DUI investigation. Alexia admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that evening and officer Lambly detected the odor of alcohol. Based on her suspicion of impairment, she asked Alexia to perform field sobriety exercises after another officer arrived on scene to assist. >> Pullman 47. I have a plate through Washington. Charles Charles Adam 9367. Okay. So, when is the last time you had anything to drink? >> Go ahead. Okay. What's your last name? >> Uh, Bramble. >> How do you spell? >> B as in boy. R A M as in mom. B as in boy. L E T as in Tom and Jerry. >> T as in Tom. >> Tom. Like Tom and Jerry. >> Okay. >> I'm on Northwood. Okay. So, where are you come? You're coming from where? >> Oh, just the um retreat right up the hill. >> Okay. And where is it that you're headed to? >> Um what is that neighborhood called? >> Do you see those houses right there? >> Cougar Ridge or something? >> Cougar Ridge. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And so you're headed to Cougar Ridge. >> It's like right the apartment's like right there. I think it's Cougar Ridge. >> Yeah. But we saw the road is closed and we thought it was open at this point. So we were just going over there. >> Okay. >> We saw it was closed. We just parked here cuz we didn't want to break any >> D3. >> D33. We're heading to the apartment. >> Oh, okay. Um, so SA Road is closed. So you just park here and you're going to hoof it over to your friend's place. >> Yes. >> Okay. Um, what's your first name? >> Alexia. >> How do you spell that? >> A is an apple. L E X I A. >> Okay. And your middle initial? >> A. >> And your birthday? >> August 10th, 2001. >> Okay. How much in total have you had to drink tonight? >> I was drink like when you had like one IPA and I saw you drinking earlier. >> Yeah. I know. I had [ __ ] like twoas. >> Yeah. >> I was drinking a lot. I wasn't driving. I was drinking. >> So I was keeping track. So, Alexia, [clears throat] how much do you remember consuming tonight? >> Oh, I think I just had two drinks. >> Two drinks. And what were you drinking? >> I had a beer and then I had one vodka soda. >> Okay. A beer and a vodka soda. >> But that vodka soda was at home. >> Okay. And where was the beer? >> The beer I just had a beer in the parking lot. >> Okay. And how much alcohol is in the vodka soda? Vodka soda. I believe it was 35%. >> Okay. >> And so I don't know what that >> Oh, so vodka soda. It's not like shots of vodka with a soda. It's a mix. >> Oh, no. No. It's one shot of vodka with just I have club soda from Walmart. >> Okay. >> And so I just mixed the two. >> Mhm. >> Um if I'm being honest with you, because you are a police officer, I'm not of age to be drinking. >> I kind of did the math. Yeah. >> Yeah. Um it was three it was two drinks that I had three hours ago but I am lightweight so I but um >> Okay. So why were you just driving just now? >> It was 2 minutes away and I did not think anything would happen. >> Okay. And why did you really pull over and park? >> Oh just because we could not get into that neighborhood with >> road all the time to go over here. Like we actually >> it's just like easier to get over there. We have dogs, so we do this walk a lot, but we hate going up the hill from the retreat. >> Okay. So, Alexia, let's step over here cuz I want to talk with you, not with your friends >> here. And let's get on the sidewalk. >> Okay. >> So, um you normally park here to go to Cougar Ridge. >> Yes. We have a friend that lives in like 300 something. >> Okay. So, you didn't just notice that I was a cop and then pull over to the side and stop and park here? >> Absolutely not. I thought you were just another car that was pulling here. We normally just park right over here so we can walk over to Cougar Ridge cuz it's just like right there versus walking up the hill, down the hill, up the hill. Oh, well, if you're going to Cougar Ridge, why not just drive from the retreat to Cougar Ridge and park? >> I just moved here recently. >> Okay. >> I And so, normally I just take this road for anywhere I go. >> Okay. >> Just because it's like a cut off and so I'm still learning all the new road. I know that one road's like super familiar by Kmart, I believe. And so I normally go that way like for anywhere else, but for here we just norally park here so we can walk through the grass and it's like a nice day out. >> Okay. >> Do you take any drugs or medications? >> Um I do take birth control. >> Okay. >> Any other >> What have you taken in the last 24 hours? >> Ibuprofen. Erin, alcohol. Okay. >> Officer Lambly started with the horizontal gaze nestagmas HGN test. During the HGN test, officer Lambly observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nestagmas at maximum deviation and the onset of nestagmas prior to 45°. Following the HGN test, she declined to perform additional field sobriety exercises. She also refused to submit to APBT. Uh, may I take a look at your eyes? All right. Can you stand with your heels and toes together, arms down at your sides, just like this? >> All right. Can you see this blue tip of my pen? >> Um, would you mind doing it this way because there's a light right behind your pen. >> Oh, okay. So, can you see this blue tip of my pen? >> I do have a little bit I haven't been to the eye doctor in a while. >> And so, I do have a little bit of a eye problem. >> What's your eye problem called? >> It's um You know when one of your eyes sees lights like um a starburst? >> Oh, so you see different like starbursts? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, I've had that problem for like a year, but I haven't been to the doctor in at least two years. >> So, this light sometimes make me see like starburst, like migraine status. >> Okay. Do you get migraines? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um All right. Can you keep your head completely still and follow this with just your eyes? Just the blue tip of my pen. Follow it with your eyes alone. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> This time the pen is going to go up and down. Same thing. Keep your head completely still. Follow with just your eyes. Do you understand? Yeah, >> I do appreciate you holding the flashlight. >> Yeah, I'm I'm I'm trying to keep it out of your eyes. >> Okay, thank you. >> Okay, can you take a deep breath and blow my hand? Oh. >> Well, I can't feel any air on my hand. >> Sorry. Sorry. >> Deep breath and blow my hand. >> Okay. >> So, again. >> All right. Um, so >> do I need What did I do wrong? >> Alexia, you're super drunk and you were just driving this car. Where are the keys at? >> What are you doing now? >> Right here. Sorry, I have holes in my pocket. >> Oh, okay. >> All right. Um, I am concerned that you're impaired and that you are driving this car while under the influence of alcohol. Um, are you willing to do some field sobriety tests so I can see how intoxicated you are? >> At the station, I would be right here. I feel uncomfortable doing that in front of my friends. >> Um, we can tell your friends to not look. In fact, they're not looking. I would feel more comfortable doing so at the station than doing it in front of my friends here because >> I've known them for years. >> Okay. So, another question I have for you is um would you be willing to do a preliminary breath test? The test is voluntary. It doesn't take the place of any evidentary test. Is that something that you're willing to do? >> Can I talk to my friends before doing so? >> No, it's a decision that you need to make. So, I would prefer to talk to them before I make a decision due to one of them is in law school. >> Okay. So, somebody being in law school is not a lawyer. >> Yeah, I I 110% agree with that. >> Okay. >> But she knows more than I do when it comes to law. >> Okay. So, >> so if I can talk to her for a second, then I would give you an answer within 30. >> No, you got to make this decision on your own. So, are you going to take the test? Yes or no? >> Haley, >> what? She wants me to take a preliminary um breathalyzer test. Do I take that here or at the same time? >> And remember, if you're just in law school, practicing law without a license is not an okay thing to do. >> Oh, she's just my best friend, so I talk to her. >> Do you have to listen to our conversation? >> So, she is not free to go and so I'm not going to just >> Okay. And why is that? because she is going to well at this point in time you are under arrest for being a minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. >> Based on her suspicion of impairment, she asked Alexia to perform field sobriety exercises after another officer arrived on scene to assist and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises. Officer Lambly placed Alexia under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was placed in handcuffs, Alexi was transported to the Pullman Police Department for further processing. >> Okay. Did she feel What test did she feel? >> Okay. You have the right to an attorney if you cannot afford one. >> Can I No, I'm Oh, no. I'm sorry. Can I give my key to her? I'll take it. Sorry. >> Okay. You cannot afford an attorney. One will be provided for you. Do you understand? >> Yes or no? >> Yes. I'm going to advise you that you >> are being audio and video recorded. It is July 13th, 2022 at 0112 hours. >> She told me to uncip it. >> I know, but no, not right now. >> You need to step away. Please uncip it. >> We'll give it to you as soon as we go through it. >> I would like it. Please. >> Stop. >> Just relax. >> Stop. Please give it to her. >> I would like it >> here. I'll take it. >> I don't know why you mute her. >> Okay. Go ahead and spread your feet apart. >> I will give it to her in a minute. Just relax. >> Okay. Do you have anything on you that's going to poke, stab, or hurt me in any way? >> I have a jewel. Haley. >> Okay. Haley and friends, you need to step back to that light. Do not step any closer than the light. Do you understand me? >> I told you I'll give it to you in a minute. I have nothing else that can hurt me. All right. >> Right now, you have the right to remain silent. >> Uh, no. I just do the um >> right now you have the right to remain silent. Thank you. Say candy from the board of law. You have the right at this time to talk to a lawyer and have one present with you or do questions. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you. But you wish. You can decide anytime I do not make any statements or answer any questions. So you're being recorded and don't have my phone on me, so I don't know what time it is, but >> Oh, I gave her the time and the admonishment already. >> We're going to go over here. >> You at least want your ID. Yeah, we do need her ID. >> ID. Um, can I have access to my hands for a second? Can you see my wallet? >> Oh, no. That's my >> Okay, stop. >> Oh, no. That's my friend's ID. >> So, my ID is going to be in the inner side pocket. >> Wait, which friend's ID is it? >> Oh, she's um visiting. She's actually staying at my house right now. >> Okay. So, we >> Oh, it's my friend's wallet. It's going to be right there. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Or in one of those pockets right there. >> What's your name? >> Alexia Brmplet. >> Alexia, go ahead and have a seat. >> In my car, my ID is in my blue purse. Would you mind grabbing that? >> Alexa, >> call your mom or my aunt. >> Your aunt >> and then your mom or No. >> Just I'll call her. You call your aunt. the back. >> Yeah, that's that's fine. >> So, if you want to give that wallet to my friend, it is actually Thank you. >> I'm not I can't give her this ID. Okay, thank you. >> She's 21. I'm guessing >> she's now 21. >> And I said minor operating motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. >> I don't know what you said to be honest. >> Oh, I think I may have just said under arrest. >> I just said DUI cuz I didn't realize. So, um, for clarification, you are under arrest for being a minor, uh, operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. Okay. >> So, we're in route to the station where I will explain more things to you. Do you understand? >> What are you telling my >> They're telling or I'm sorry, Officer Knol is telling your friends what the next steps are. Okay. So, Here's your phone. >> Oh, awesome. Thank you. >> Is that my phone? >> Pullman 47 to the PD with one female. It is your phone. >> Most people don't have numbers memorized now, so we try and get people's phones so they can communicate with their friends. I do have a question. >> Mhm. >> Can you hear me right now? >> I can. >> So, are you required to read the Miranda laws? >> So, you were read your constitutional rights. >> Oh, no. I know that. I know that. But just with everything going on right now, I was asking if you're required to. Um, so what we do is we audio and video record and we are supposed to read constitutional rights to people that have been placed in custody. >> Are all states like that right now? >> I don't know if all states are like that. I just know about Washington state. >> Okay. So, Washington State is a two-party consent place, and I think that may have something to do with it in addition to the fact that you're being audio and video recorded. So, yeah, like next door in Idaho, they only need one person's consent to record. Do I get one phone call? >> Who do you want to call? >> Probably my mom. >> Okay. So, we'll go through the paperwork. After we're done with the paperwork and the process, I'll I'll let you call who you want to call, but we have to go through a administrative process. Okay. >> Can I call my mom first? >> No. >> Legally? >> Legally? Right. >> What about a lawyer? >> Yeah, you can call a lawyer first. Is there a particular attorney that you would like to talk to or >> I would need like I guess I would need to talk to either my mom or my friend because they both have who I would see as my first and I don't know their phone numbers. So, how does that work? >> So, I don't have any lawyers phone numbers like memorized. >> Okay. >> So, it either be my mom or my best friend that I would call to get that phone number. >> So, we do have attorneys available and there is an on call attorney that will answer the phone. But that's not the same as like a lawyer I would appoint to myself. Correct. >> So actually um the attorneys that act as public defender have a contract with the county to be public defender. Um that is not their sole job. In fact, all of them have private practices of their own. Um, so to say that you wouldn't hire somebody that is acting as a public defender as your attorney, I wouldn't be able to tell you because all of them have their own private practice. >> A lawyer who a lawyer whom I trust myself. >> Um, would I be allowed to call either a my mom or b my friend who both have lawyer friends? I could get their cell sell your phone numbers. How that would work is I would call your mom or I would call your friend to get that attorney's number. >> Okay. So, can we call my mom first? How do you talk to her? >> It's only for the purposes of getting the attorney's number >> precisely. >> Okay. >> So, if my mom doesn't have the lawyer's phone number, then would you be able to state that I'll be getting a lawyer's phone number from my best friend? >> Homeman 47 at the PD. Okay, swing your feet out. Watch your head as you get out. Okay, I'm going to have you stand right next to this blue box. Go ahead and stand to the right. Okay. Do you see that cone over there? >> Yes. >> Go stand right next to that cone, please. At the Pullman Police Department, Alexia agreed to submit breath samples after speaking with an attorney. We don't have any more um property sheets. Oh, is this the property? Yes, it is. Thank you. >> Hello. >> Yeah, just one moment. Um, so turn and face the wall for me, please. spread your feet apart. Just need to make sure nothing came into the police department. >> Yes. >> Um, is that >> It's a bar wire. >> It's a bar wire. >> Okay. >> You can feel it. >> Well, okay. So, I'm going to have you um I'm going to take your handcuffs off. Um, leave your hands behind your back until I tell you it's okay to move them. Do you understand? my jacket. >> Um, so actually I want you to take your jacket off and you can relax your arms, but I need you to also take your belt and your shoes off. Your pants are going to stay up without your belt on, right? They should. >> Okay. Thank you. Yeah, you can take your shoes off. And just put them right on the desk right there. Okay, I'll show you to where you can use the restroom. Go ahead and done. Sorry. >> Okay, you can flush the toilet. >> Is it this knob? >> Um, it's actually one of the buttons up top. I don't know why that going on with the nose. >> I don't think you're okay. >> You what? >> I don't need coke. I just have a runny nose. >> No, no, no. I'm just making sure like you're okay cuz you are reaching up far and like sometimes people have issues with their noses and bloody noses and stuff. So >> I do have hand sanitizer. >> I do. Uh we're going to have to do it without hand sanitizer for period of time. Just to have a seat right there on in that brown chair over there. I have an problem, so I I get it. Okay. Do you know your mom's phone number? >> Okay. What is her phone number? >> And would you mind telling her I will call her? >> Yes. >> Um after you talk to her. >> Mhm. And then that is my friend's ID who left it in my car and I've just been keeping it in my wallet. Just so you're aware. >> You don't get the ID back. >> Oh, that's fine. I don't like I'll tell her. It's just [snorts] >> What's your mom's name? >> Cindy. >> Cindy. Okay. >> It's an I. Thank you. Hi, Cindy. So, um I want to tell you first that Alexia is okay. Um she's not hurt. Um but my name is Heidi Lamley. I'm a police officer with the city of Pullman Police Department. I am calling you because Alexia would like the number and name of an attorney that she trusts. >> If she does not have one, Haley Cannon has one. Would you tell her that, please? Um, and she wants me to communicate that if you don't have one, Haley Cannon does have one. >> Um, she has been arrested for being a minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. How many check? >> Haley was with her, >> but she's not anymore. >> She's not right now, >> but I can call her. I have her number memorized. >> Would you mind telling her that? So, um, Cindy Alexia says that she has Haley's number memorized, so we can also call her. >> Do you have a number for an attorney? >> I don't have one right now. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, we will try Haley. >> Tell her I love her. >> And Alexia wants you to know that she loves you and she will be able to give you a call back after we're finished with this. Are you you're not holding her tonight? >> Um, as long as she promises to appear in court and she can give me an address that's local and she has not been arrested for something similar within the past 10 years, I can release her. >> She's never been arrested. >> Okay. >> Um, thank you. And tell her to call me as soon as finished. Yeah, I I will I'll make sure. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Um, what's most Christian lady will ever meet? So, I feel terrible. >> What's Haley's number? >> Okay. As a mama, I'm going to tell you this is a hiccup, but it's not a game over type of thing. Okay? >> What? >> I am a mother and I am going to tell you that this is a hiccup, but it's not a game over type of thing. Okay? >> Asthma. I don't have an inhaler. It is not medically. Um, >> my mom has asthma. >> Okay. I'm trying to grab myself. >> Okay. So, I will I will call Haley in a moment. Okay. I'm going to get to the point. >> Do you have um any sort of >> inhaler? Yes. >> No. And I can't give you medication. You don't have an inhaler? You don't have one prescribed to you? >> Okay. Um I'm unaware of that. My mom would know. I can. >> You want to call Haley? >> I will call Haley. Let me get through this. Let me read you some things. Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. You have the right at this time to an attorney. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You're not under 18. That does not apply to you. You have the right to talk to an attorney before answering any questions. You have the right to have an attorney present during the questioning. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you without cost if you so desire. You can exercise these rights at any time. Do you understand these rights? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Are you still recording? >> Yes. Okay, I get your signature here. Your signature is only acknowledging that I have read you your constitutional rights and that you understand your constitutional rights. >> Oh, right here. >> Not going to have you sign that part cuz >> What is that? That's if you wanted to talk with me, but you have already expressed your desire to speak with an attorney, so that's I'm not having you sign that part. >> Okay. >> I do like your watch. >> Oh, thank you. >> Really bad at changing it in and out. >> If I'm Am I answering any more questions? So, um, I'm going to read this to you and then I'm going to ask you whether or not you're going to submit to a breath test. I by law have to read this to you and make sure you understand it. I will make sure that we get you in contact with an attorney before you have to answer that question. But with that, understand we can't take forever to find an attorney. That makes any sense. >> All right. >> Okay. So, warning. You are under arrest for RCW4661503 being under 21 years of age and driving or being in actual physical control of a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol or marijuana. Further, you are now being asked to submit to a test of your breath which consists of two separate samples of your breath taken independently to determine alcohol concentration. One, you are now advised that you have the right to refuse this breath test and that if you refuse, A, your driver's license permit or privilege to drive will be revoked or denied by the Department of Licensing for at least one year and B, your refusal. >> Wait, pause. So, if I do not give you the right to take my breath, my breath test, I won't have a license for one year. I'll so a your driver's license permit or privilege to drive will be revoked or denied by the department of licensing for at least one year and B your refusal to submit to this test may be used in a criminal trial. Two, you are further advised that if you submit to this breath test and the test is administered, your driver's license permit or privilege to drive will be suspended, revoked, or denied by the Department of Licensing for at least 90 days if you are a age 21 or over. And the test indicates the alcohol concentration of your breath is 0.08 or more, or you are in violation of RCW4661502, >> which is what? driving under the influence or RCW4661504 physical control of a vehicle under the influence or B under age 21 and the test indicates the alcohol concentration of your breath is 0.02 or more or you are in violation of RCW4661502 driving under the influence or RCW4661504 physical control of a vehicle under the influence. Three, if your driver's license permit or privilege to drive is suspended, revoked, or denied, you may be eligible to immediately apply for an ignition interlock driver's license. Four, you have >> What is that? >> Four, you have the right to additional tests administered by any qualified person of your own choosing. >> So, >> may I read this? I'm sorry. I just comprehend better when I read it personally. Yeah, let me let me put my signature and stuff at the bottom. >> All right. Thank you so much. One break. Pullman 447. I have another name to run and attach to the case. Through Washington lastes, Davis, David, Adam, Victor, Ida, Sam first, Alexandra, Adam, Lincoln, Edward, X-ray, Adam, Nora, David, Robert, Adam, middle, A, Adam. Date of birth is 0625 1999. the year again. >> It's 1999. Sorry, I'm kind of a slow reader. So before furthering anything, I would like to call my friend to get the phone number. >> So do you understand what I have just read to you? Yes or no? What I've read to you and >> what I understand is if I So >> do you understand it? Yes or no? You have read it. I have read it. Do you understand it? >> So, I'm double checking with you that I'm comprehending it correctly. >> If I refuse at this current moment, >> I can't interpret this for you. >> Then I'm going to double check. >> Okay, that's fine. >> I would be using trial, right? >> So, here I just need your signature acknowledging that I have read these rights to you and that you understand them. Okay. So, you want me to call Haley and get an attorney's number? >> Yes, please. >> Go ahead. >> 45 Copy. Thank you. >> Hello. >> Hi. Is this Haley? >> Yes. Haley, this is Austra Lamley with Pullman PD. I was told that you would have a name and number of an attorney for Alexia. >> Oh, yes. Do you want her now? >> Yeah, we So, >> does she have one speak to right now? >> We need to talk to an attorney right now. So, >> could you call her? Yeah, you got about five minutes to do so. >> No, I I get it. >> You ask her to be urgent. >> Okay. All right. Got five minutes. Thank you. >> Bye. She's going to call and make sure. So, >> do you have any water? Am I allow? I don't have any cups. But I know what you're saying because I'm really thirsty, too. I think the air is really dry today. Am I allowed to use the bathroom? >> I'm going to have you stay out here. You can use the bathroom for going to the bathroom, but How long have you lived here? >> Um, the police have been here over 20 years. Okay. You don't look older than 30. Thank you. >> Are you like above that? >> I am. Okay. So, if we do not hear back from Haley in five minutes, um, >> then I have to speak to an appointed attorney. >> So, then I can give you a phone book and you can try and find an attorney that's going to answer the phone or we can call an on call person. And like I said, it rotates between attorneys who have their own private practices. >> [snorts] >> Um, so I've never been in a police office before. >> Am I allowed a personal phone call and an attorney phone call? >> Right now, just an attorney phone call. The personal phone call is a courtesy. Um, and like I said, as soon as we finish this administrative process, I will let you talk to your mom and like just texting her. >> Your mom? I'm not going to text her right now. Okay. What is your current street address here in Pullman Street? >> The retreat neighborhood. >> Um, and it's what was the apartment number? >> Uh, 103. Apple. Okay. Washington. One minute. >> Hello. >> Hi, this is Canon. I'm attorney called for Alexia. >> Yes. But um do you have an attorney's number that she can contact right now? >> I do have a number. However, I don't think she right now in the morning. Is that okay? >> I can try to call her right now. >> So, um No, it's something that she needs addressed immediately. Do >> you mind telling her? I can try call >> but we can take the name and number and try it right now. >> Okay. I'll give you the name and number. Okay. Go ahead. >> O. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, is Emily Cannon an attorney licensed in the state of Washington? Okay, that's kind of something that >> we >> It has to be >> She might I can call her and ask her if she is able to. >> Um All right. We will give it a shot. Thank you. >> Okay. Is there anything else? >> Nope. That's everything for right now. Thank you. >> Okay. >> She'll be able to contact you later. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Bye. >> So then I will make this phone call. Um, I will make the initial phone call. >> I do like your handwriting. >> Oh, thanks. >> When you answer the phone, do you mind saying that? >> Yeah, I'll let her know. Would you mind calling her one more time before leaving a voicemail? >> Hi Emily. This is Officer Lamley with the Pullman Police Department. I have a friend of Haley Cannons in custody and she was hoping to speak with an attorney. It is for a driving related offense. So we do need somebody that is licensed in the state of Washington that can call us within the next 20 minutes. Thank you. You can reach me directly at Thank you. >> Would you mind trying our cell one more time before we try the other phone book? >> Sure. Thank you. Okay, let's go in. All right. Here. So, you got two choices. Um, you [clears throat] can look through the phone book or we can contact somebody that is on call. >> Okay. I'll look through the phone book and I don't see any names that I recognize. >> Okay. Understand? to get a hold of an attorney. I'm only giving you 20 minutes and then you have to make your decision because we have been on this hunt for an attorney that nobody seems to have for you for quite a while. >> Okay. So, clock is starting. So, if you decide that you don't want to continue to look, let me know and I'll get a hold of the on call person. Okay. Mhm. >> Are all these phone numbers? >> Oh, on the list. I will call the number on the list. >> No, that's a phone book. So, you'd have to look them up under attorneys. Yeah. >> How do I find is it like it's in the yellow part. Thank you. >> Mhm. >> Alexia, you got 2 minutes left. She doesn't want to. I I've explained. >> Okay. Times up, right? >> Yeah. Go ahead and have a seat. Okay, >> I got a hold of one. Would do you think I should listen to them or call the one that you point to me? >> No. If you got a We're out of time. Oh. >> Um, this is a time-sensitive manner. So, at this time, are you going to submit to the breath test? Yes or no? >> Okay. >> Um, go ahead and place your hands behind your back. >> Hand. >> Yep, you do. cuz you have played the stall game >> um at professional level actually. >> Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. >> Oh, it is. I've been doing this job a few years and >> have I did not mean to do anything against you. >> No, no, it's nothing personal. I don't take it personal, but I have to get stuff done and so I just can't do the stall thing anymore. So, All right, go ahead and have a seat. Do you have any foreign substances in your mouth right now? No. Okay. You got to keep your >> I'm sorry. I'm trying to fix my I didn't want it out. >> Okay. country. >> Have you ever been arrested before? >> No. >> Okay. >> I'm already arrested right now. Um, so what allows me to release you from holding today is one that you provide an address where you can be reached here um in Washington State, which it looks like you have. Um, and two, that you promise to show up to court. >> Um, the other like caveat is you can't have been arrested for DUI. >> I've never >> before. And and so for people that have it as a second offense within a certain amount of years, >> I'm so sorry. I don't mean enough. Please fix my hair. It's like blurring my eyes. >> Yeah, >> the left eye. >> Is that better? >> Yes. Thank you so much. >> Do you have a hair tie? No. Oh, >> yes. >> Sorry. >> Uh it's Yeah. Sorry. It's >> Sorry. I've never [laughter] >> It's okay. Um Thank you. >> So, um, those are the things that allow me to release you just basically on your own. >> Okay. So, never get a DUI. >> So, you you've never been arrested before, so that's not even an issue. >> Okay, we're good. >> So, I have to wait a certain amount of time and then I'm going to administer the test. Um, the test is very simple. Um, I've had people of all different ages, all different sizes that have been able to take this test. >> This instrument is super. >> Sorry. >> So, this device is super smart. It will keep track of anything that you try and do. So, if you try to suck air in or not blow, it will tell me. >> Um, and if you are purposely not taking the test as you're supposed to, then I'm just going to say you're refusing to take the test. Okay? So, when I tell you to what you're going to do is I will have you take a I'll have you stand up and then I'll tell you to take a deep breath and then you're going to seal your lips on the end of this breath tube. See this little spot right there? Just right there. And you're going to blow out. And we want a nice steady breath that lasts about 15 seconds. You're totally capable of doing it. Um, and just a nice steady breath. Um, and I will be able to tell if you're blowing. So, >> so you know when I had you blow my hand earlier and >> um, please just don't play any games with an instrument is all I'm asking. >> Okay. Um, your breath sample consists of two separate samples. So that's why there's two breath tubes because afterwards I'm going to have you take a seat, relax for a second, and then we'll have another breath test. It will run very similar. I'll tell you to stand up, tell you to take a deep breath, and then I'll tell you to blow on the end of this breath tube. So should last about 15 seconds, and you can do it. >> Can I stand for a second first? >> Stand for a second right now. Yeah, >> sure. What's going on? >> Oh, I don't know. I just feel like 15 seconds seems like a long time. >> It's really not. So, you're going to be fine. >> I just don't want you to like mark me as >> So, when I say I've had people of all different ages, all different abilities, all different sizes that are able to do this test. I'm not lying. It's really simple. I just want you to shoot for that. Um, it's very different depending on the volume of breath that you provide. Um, and it's looking for a certain amount of volume to measure before it will test a sample. Okay? So, I'm giving you 15 seconds as a goal to shoot to. >> Um, it that's not like this instrument doesn't say blow for 15 seconds. I'm counting down 15 14. Okay? It doesn't do that. >> Okay. Um, but that's usually what I have people shoot to so that they can try and provide a long breath if that makes any sense. So, if you happen to give it all your all, you don't have any more air left and you run out, you can take your mouth off the breath tube piece, take another deep breath, and give it another shot. Okay. >> Okay. So it's not >> so blow as much as I can if I don't have any water. >> It's okay. >> Take a breath, >> right? >> And then bl. >> But people sometimes have to do that once. We're not talking like >> Oh, no. It'd be like a one time like >> I I mean I used to be a cheerleader. I do have like ability. It's just 15 seconds seems like a long time when you think about >> Don't Don't stress out about the 15 seconds. You'll be fine. So we just have to wait for the appropriate amount of time to go by. Sorry. >> How long have you been a police officer? >> This summer is 18 years. >> Yeah. >> You're older than 30. [laughter] >> Sorry. >> I'm used to it. Once you hit 23 in this town, you're really old. So, >> yeah. >> I used to want to be what? >> A what? >> A police officer. >> It's not too late. Yeah. >> So, when I say this is really not game over, it's really not game over. Um, my job is to make sure people are safe. And in a I know you probably don't understand how I'm making people safe tonight, but that's really what my goal is cuz impaired driving kills a lot of people. Um, but it is I think for most people it's an honest mistake. >> Okay, keep your head up. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Let me >> Sorry. Um, like I said, it's an it's an honest honest mistake. Um, and people see it like that. And so, like we've had presidents that have gotten the US. >> Oh, really? >> Oh, yeah. Of the United States. I'm not talking about like of the university. Um, so it happens and you can recover from it. You just don't don't do it again. Okay. >> If that happens. >> Okay. >> If it is. >> Yeah. >> What about being a homicide detective? Am I screwed for that? >> No. Like I said, it happens. I've arrested police officers. >> Really? >> Mhm. >> Not not a great time. Um but yeah, it happens. Um, I have arrested other law enforcement officers for DUI and it's >> my older sister actually died from drugs and being murdered from them. >> I am so sorry. >> So, I'd like to be a homicide detective at some point, but so not out of the realm of possibilities. So, and it takes a few years to get through college. And so, I used to do background investigations, um, background investigations. >> What are those? >> So, um, I was in detectives and I would investigate people that wanted to be police officers for our police department. >> And in the state of Washington, we are hurting for police officers. Like, people really don't want to be a cops right now for whatever reason. It's so weird. Um, and so I would investigate people's backgrounds to see if they were a suitable fit to be a police officer. And the philosophy for a lot of agencies is becoming like, hey, if you're honest about your mistakes, you'll learn from them. We we would love to have you. >> Yeah. >> So, yeah. >> Yeah. >> But I don't know. I've never done any like drugs really just because of my older sister. And you're from Stanwood? >> Stomish. But >> Stomish. Okay. >> I moved there like I was raised in Sto. Like >> most recent where my mom lives is Stanwood. >> Okay. >> And then I moved here to pursue psychology. Actually, >> don't if if you truly want to be a police officer, don't major in criminal justice is all I'm saying. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I want to go for psychology and then uh human development cuz I would like to be a children's therapist. >> Okay. >> But uh >> we need a lot of those >> especially, right? >> Oh yeah, absolutely. So many kids going through hard times and the weight lines are insane. >> No, I've been trying to get into therapy, let me tell you, for over a year. >> Yeah. >> And it's just >> And you're technically an adult. like you are an adult and >> I've been trying since I was a minor >> and it it's easier for adults to get into um counselors because there's more adult counselors. It's so hard to get kids into counseling >> and that's why I want to be specific for children. >> Yeah. I don't know. Children go through a lot of part of my friend [ __ ] up [ __ ] >> Yes, they do. [laughter] So, like, not that people can see, but >> well, >> I would love to be or some people for sure. You especially, I mean, I've had a few police officers show up to my mom's house when [ __ ] went down, and so I just love to be some for somebody. >> It's still definitely possible. >> Yeah. Um, part of being a detective in Pullman is that we investigate crimes [snorts] against children. And so >> it is it's really sad because kids are so innocent and trusting when they start out >> and you see what happens when that trust is violated. So >> do you have any daughters? >> I don't have daughters. I'm a boy mom. >> Boy mom. Okay. I work with this one girl who I would swear to God could be your daughter. Really? She looks so similar to you. >> Oh yeah. Maybe. No. Uh, [laughter] no. I do remember. Um, no. All my kids are boys and they're all tiny. >> How old? >> The youngest is 11 months. So, >> are they scared for you? >> Um, so not >> Oh, I don't mean that. >> Oh, no, no, no. You're fine. Uh, no. It's an honest question. Um, they're not old enough to understand what it truly is that I do for a living. So, >> um, like tonight I snuck in and like got them both situated just right in bed before I came back. Well, I started my shift at two. >> Um, and so my older son was up on his iPad [laughter] and he was like, I'm just playing on my iPad. I'm like, it's summertime. Enjoy. Um, but he, you know, he expresses love, but he doesn't know enough to be scared, which I'm okay with. >> It's They're still so young to >> They don't need to worry. So, >> they don't know what it violence is. They don't need to know what it is, >> right? And that's our goal as parents is to train. >> Are you still married? >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, that's good. >> Yeah. My finger got cut. So, um, I took the ring off for for No, you're fine. Um, yeah, I cut my finger, so I'm letting it heal without the ring on. >> What did you do? >> I don't know. I I I'm not meant to be in the kitchen is one problem. So, yeah. >> Thank you for talking to me. >> Yeah. You're welcome. I'm trying to do math. It was 155 or 156 when I walked out here. >> Oh. Um, so I have to use this time. This time is very specific. >> So, um, yeah, >> I'm not doing adjusting. >> It's uh I understand handcuffs are not comfortable. Um, so um, see, >> do you record on your So this is this is where the video comes from. This is the battery and um >> I do so like one personal one work. >> Oh >> yeah. So >> sorry. I'm just trying to figure >> No, you're fine. >> Um I sometimes can't make it home so I will FaceTime or talk on the phone to my kids and the husband. >> While you're driving, >> not while I'm driving. No. [laughter] >> I'm like I'm sorry. No yourself. >> I I um I'm actually pretty good about that. Um our cars have Bluetooth and so >> that would have been hilarious though if I got you Maria. >> Uh yeah. No, I try and practice what I preach. Now law enforcement officers are given an exception for cell phone use. And there's a very few times that I have used it because um for whatever reason the person like I've been transporting somebody and I need to get information really quickly but the information needs to stay private so I'm not going to have that conversation on Bluetooth. >> Yeah. >> Um and >> what are the laptops I see? So, the laptops you see are um are something that we h have to use and read to get to different calls. So, keep your hands down and away from your face, >> right? >> This is my first time being handcuffed, so I'm sorry if I keep breaking things. I just I'm not sure. No, >> I will let you know. Okay. Um so, One more minute. Does my mom sound okay? >> Yeah. So that's why I don't know if you noticed I started off with your daughter is physically okay. Uh because I don't want I didn't want her to think that I'm giving her bad news over the phone. Um, so Oh, please. Yes, it worked. This is my card to operate the B BAC. Um, and >> am I allowed to use my hand to wipe my nose? >> Not right now. Sorry. [snorts] >> I think the breath was intense. Will it be? >> Um, no. >> Is there a reason? >> Yes. Um, I'll tell you a note just a bit. So, sorry. I have I'm multitasking. I'm watching you and inputting information here and Sorry. >> Promise I won't run. >> I No, I It's not that I'm afraid you're going to run. See, >> I don't even know how to get out of here. >> Well, exactly. Oh, you want to scan her driver's license? Yes, you do. Oh, it did not. >> Oh, that sucks. Um, that is not my current address, just so you know. >> Oh, yeah. And I got You gave me your current address here in town. And that is the address. >> And that is my mom's old address as well. So, that's nowhere near connected to me. >> Okay. >> Just >> Nope. That's good to know. Does she not work live in uh Stanwood anymore? >> She lives in Stanwood but she ah >> have you been to the west side? >> Uh I grew up there. >> Oh what part? >> I graduated from both. >> Oh okay. >> A very long time ago >> when it was not a nice looking school >> and now it's like a not like it's like all the girls there know like more. >> Oh really? No. So, we were the um school that didn't get three years of a language because we were not collegebound. >> Sorry. [laughter] No, >> I was like, "Wow, that's really impressive that you guys already made that decision for us. Thank you." And that's not exactly how that was put, but >> h Okay. >> Yeah, I would. >> Okay. >> Will this affect my college in any way? The fact that I now have on the record that I have been arrested one night. >> So, um are you WC student? >> I'm applying to be >> okay. It so WC can find out about what happens with students, but um it it really depends on all the all the situation and everything on whether or not they do anything and and what they do. Um, when I first started years ago, like they had the three strike rule and if you got in trouble three times, you're out. >> Okay. >> WCU does not operate that way. Not even remotely close. So, um, I I don't think that it's going to be an issue, especially if you don't go to school. I don't know. >> What is Spokan right now? >> Uh, Spokane Falls. >> It's the way to do it. Schools. >> Yeah. WC is expensive. >> Okay, go ahead and stand up. >> It was arm day yesterday. >> Sorry. >> Take a deep breath and seal your lips around. And >> I need to take two. >> You can. You got it. Okay. and go. You got to blow. You're not Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. You got to blow a little bit harder. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. You got it. Take another deep breath and blow a little bit harder. You're not blowing. >> Oh, >> I was. >> Okay. >> I was running. >> No, you're fine. It is telling me. >> Test repeated. So, it did not like your sample. >> Okay. >> I promise you I was trying. >> So, try again. >> It's It's going to tell me what's going on, but You felt me blowing, right? You saw it. >> I can't I did the second time. Um the first time you were blowing, I think really lightly. >> Try to hold it for the 15 seconds. Maybe >> a little bit harder. >> Okay. Okay. Go ahead and have a seat. Sorry. These things are very sensitive and they don't like the odor of alcohol in the air. Okay, go ahead and stand up. Okay, take a deep breath and blow. Oh, okay. It timed out. So go ahead and have a seat. So too much time elapsed. We got to be quicker about it. >> Okay. >> Okay. So no practice breaths. Just go have a seat. Gather your breath. It's got to go through its things. >> Sorry. Yeah, I just like used whenever I feel like I did like a holding my breath contest like >> you got it. >> What year were you born? >> Sorry if that's rude. >> No, it's fine. Um, I am in my 40s. >> 86. >> No, I wish. No. Is that faulty? >> No, it's not faulty. It just didn't get two samples. >> So, um, >> do this twice again. >> Mhm. >> Tell me when I will. So for um when you blow this time when I tell you you got to do it >> like hard >> and harder not like super hard but just harder than what you were doing. I've done like at home breathalyzers. So it maybe it's a little lighter than these ones. >> Uh yeah, the at home ones aren't looking for the air in your lungs so much. I think they get more mouth alcohol. Okay, stand up and blow. Go. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. You got it. Good. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Almost done. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Almost there. Keep going. Just a little bit more. You got it. Keep going. Keep going. And stop. Have a Have a seat. >> I was like, I'm about to run out of air, lady. >> I I know. Like I said, it's looking for that deep long air. move to the mouthpiece. We're good. Like is that this thing's super smart? >> Looks like a cash register. >> It kind of does. The state has spent a lot of money on these things. >> Does this not cut my blood flow? >> No. I You got plenty of room. I just not sure was like how it's I guess not. I don't know. I'm just not used to holding my hands like this. >> Yeah, it's uncomfortable. And >> so if I ask >> it doesn't tell me any results. It's just going through its diagnostic stuff and telling me like please wait. Um purging um things like that. >> Have you seen The Purge? >> I don't like scary movies. I used to love them, but >> I hate ones based off real stories, but the purse is beginning to look like a real story. >> Yeah. >> Like like 20 years from now that it's not like right now. But >> see, and it was weird. When I was in college, I thought scary movies were awesome. And then as I've gotten older and been in this job, I'm like, it's just not my thing anymore. So >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Whenever I watch a scary movie, I have to watch a funny one afterwards. Yeah, that makes sense. >> But then I still have bedrooms. >> Who's in there? >> That's our records personnel. And so they um open the doors for us and they control all of our records um and just make sure like there's different obligations that we have to the public as far as providing information to the public when it's requested and they maintain all of the arrest records and all that stuff. So yeah. probably so many miles have been on this thing >> on the breath tube. >> Well, yeah, but like how do you know that nothing that I blow is residue from the >> So that that's why um Oh, residue from the tube. >> Oh, no. No, no, resonate from like the cord that I blow into. >> So, it purges and um when it comes to the scientific thing of how this actually works, I'm not the expert, but I do know it purges and it tells me it purges and it checks ambient air and then it has to zero out. So, um I think that's kind of how they know. >> Sorry, that's a question. >> Go ahead and stand up. We got to I just don't want it to time out again. Take a deep breath and blow. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. You got it. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Almost there. Keep going. Take another deep breath and keep keep going. Keep going. Got to go. Keep going. Almost there. Just a little bit more. You got it. Keep going. Just a little bit there. Take it. Oh, you got to go. >> You were You were No, you were sucking in. >> Oh, I sucked into my nose. I thought I could do that to get air. >> Oh my I'm so sorry. I thought I could do that. I was I was feeling it in my stomach. So, I don't know how much more I could have in instructed you on this. And I did tell you not to suck in. I literally could not have more. Okay, let me try one more time. Please respectfully. >> Is it going to go or did it say >> I don't know yet. We'll see. I'm really not trying. >> Okay, take a deep breath. Okay, >> do not suck in deep breath. Let's get this done. Okay, ready and go. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Almost there. Keep going. Keep going. Almost there. Keep going. Keep going. Just a little bit more. You got it. and stop. >> Oh, thank God. >> You can have a seat. >> Mouth pieces removed. >> Thank god I thought you have me do it again. I was like, I'm not trying to do both of those again. >> I know. What is that paper? >> This shows an incomplete test from before. >> My last >> Yeah, it doesn't give us any results. >> No, that's fine. But yeah, see up at the top it says blank test >> 000. So it it tests itself on a regular basis. >> But for any more detail have to talk with the >> lawyer. >> No, the talks that we there's actually a >> But when this prints out, am I allowed to see it? >> You'll get a copy of it. >> Oh, cool. >> Yeah. I'm not going to hold you in suspense. Just >> And then once this prints out, am I allowed to leave? >> I got to walking. So, I got to do some things like I gotta >> just go. >> Yeah, I'll So, as long as you don't act a fool. So, what I mean by acting a fool, like don't be calling 911. Don't be I say these things cuz they've actually happened. Don't be um doing crazy things. So, >> I be on hand. >> Yeah. Go ahead and stand up, actually. Okay. All right. Go ahead and have a seat. So your breath test results are 0153 0164 0 or excuse me.142.152. So you're almost double the legal limit. >> Okay. >> So it's not just minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. It's DUI. So, and I Yeah. Um, >> can I take it? Oh, I get a coffee. >> You get a copy. Pen. How long am I required to stay here? >> So, you're required to stay here until I get my paperwork done, but I was supposed to be done at 2:00 a.m. So, I'm going to try and get that done real quick because I am tired. >> Me, too. Um, so you are going to hang tight for a little bit. This is your copy. Um, >> my back on. >> No. Um, I'm going to give you your phone. >> Her first breath samples indicated back levels of 0.153 IR and 0.164EC. Her second breath samples indicated back levels of 0.142IR and 0.15EC, which were almost double the legal limit of 0.08%. 08% for drivers over 21. >> Um, so before I forget, I'm going to get this to you. So, this is a request for a DUI hearing. And basically, just like with a criminal offense, you have the ability to contest the suspension of your license if you want to do so. >> Contest meaning >> like take it to a hearing and say, "Hey, my license shouldn't be suspended for these reasons." >> Okay? >> Um, but you got to read through this. You got to pay the fee. You got to send it in within 7 days of your arrest. So, one week from today. Um, all right. Um, so I need your signature here. By signing this, um, you are acknowledging that I gave you this form, which is your driver's hearing request form. And it's also acknowledging that, um, you understand information will be sent to your address on record. And when I send this in, this will become your address on record. Okay. >> So, Um, I didn't refuse to submit a test though. >> No, no, no, you did not. And that's what So, it has to cover all the bases. So it says um after receipt of any applicable required the person refused to submit to a test of her breath or a test was administered and the results indicated. >> Oh okay. Sorry. >> No that's okay. I'm only sending from here up, right? >> Yep. >> Um, what's the date? >> It's the 13th. >> And then while you have the pen, can I get your signature here? So, I basically said, "Yeah, I got a belt, boots, um your cell phone, which you're going to have with you, driver's license, um and jacket." >> Oh, I have to write jacket. Sorry, Jacket. >> You're welcome. So, Alexia, what is your phone number? >> And where were you born? >> Where? >> Mhm. >> Um, Arlington, Washington. >> My roommate at the academy. An Arlington police officer. >> Oh, what year? >> At the academy >> or what year were they born? Oh, no, no, she she's not from Arlington. She just became an Arlington cop. >> My older sister went to Arlington High School. That's the only reason why. >> Oh, okay. Yeah. All right. I'm going to collect this stuff. Can you take your notes? And you do you want to leave your notes in here or do you want to keep them with you? >> Put them in my pocket. Yeah, you can throw them in your pocket. Um, and I'm going to have you go sit in the cell. Do you want a blanket? Cuz I know it gets kind of cold in here. I think I'm the only one wearing fleece. >> All right. >> What's your as soon as I possibly can. Um, it's a full moon tonight. I don't know if you noticed, but it's been a real weird night for us. >> It's been [ __ ] wild. Okay, go ahead and stay over there. I'm sorry. You're fine. >> Okay. Blanket. >> That room. >> Yep. That room. Thank you. Alexia, you ready to get going? >> Yeah. >> All right. Have you step on out? You can place the phone over there by your belongings and we'll start the process of getting you out of here. Yeah, just right there is fine. All right, we'll have you step over here. by the blue screen. You look at me. >> Do I have to do this? >> If you want do what? >> Take the picture. >> Do you want to leave? >> Yes. >> Then yes, you have to. And then turn your head, just your head to the right. So you'll keep your body facing me. And then turn your head to that red dot. Yeah. All right, we'll have you step over there. All [snorts] right, we're going to get your fingerprints. So, we'll take your right hand, go and place it flat on there. All four fingers. >> Usually, I have to do this, right? >> Yes, if you want to go. Yes. So, if you don't, we can take you to county jail and then they'll just take you straight to court. So, do you want to do it? >> No, I'll do the finger. >> Okay. So, four fingers. Cool. Thumb. And then what you're going to do is you see right in between there, you're going to roll it. So nice and quick, just roll it. Perfect. And then your index finger, same thing. [clears throat] And your middle finger. Let's redo that one. Give me one second. Cool. Ready. Try it again. Then your ring finger. Uh, try it again. Little finger. And we'll do the left hand. Four fingers there. Cool. Thumb. >> All right. And then roll it other way. So remember, yeah, you're going to do opposite. There you go. >> Wait. So I don't know why I can't cross. >> So right there. Yep. All right. You can tell I'm right-handed. >> Try it again. And then index finger, middle finger, and ring finger and little finger. Oh, no. We got to do that one. Try again. All right, cool. And then uh you can go take a seat on that brown chair. Um, yeah. So, [clears throat] just so you know that the fingerprints, it's not an admission of guilt. It just says that this is you. These are your fingerprints. That's doesn't say, "Oh, I'm guilty." This just says this is you. So, just so you know, you'll still have your day in court. Are you a WSU student? Gonna be hopefully. >> Gonna be What are you going to school for? >> Psychology. >> Okay. >> What makes you want to do psychology? >> I want to be a children's therapist. >> Okay. >> Or I was debating between the therapist and police therapist. >> Okay. >> Like for that. >> You want to work with the police? >> You just want to be a homicide. >> Oh yeah. But a lot of years, >> why do you want to fight the whole process? If you want to be a police therapist, why don't you just do the stuff and get it done with? >> Yeah. >> What makes you want to be a police therapist? >> Um, I didn't want to look at blood. Oh, I got you. Okay. So, signing here. Again, this not an admission of guilt. That just says that those are your fingerprints. >> Your body cam looks different than the other girls. >> Yeah. So, I have a different one. Um, we have a choice of two. One of them is the, as you can see, like the robot looking one or this one. The reason I [clears throat] like this one is one, it never falls off. And two, uh, this one doesn't freak people out as much as the one on your shoulder. I don't know. It seems to freak people out. So, have you signed there? Again, not an admission of guilt. It just says, "These are your fingerprints." >> Is this going to be on my record forever? >> Uh, so I can't say if it's going to be on your record forever because you still have to go to court. So, again, you're not guilty. This just says uh officer Lambley found that she had problem. >> What was I being held for? >> DUI. >> Oh no. >> Driving under the influence. So, all right. So, I'm going to explain some things to you, okay? If you have any questions, let me know. So, this is your notice of hearing. District Court of Washington for Whitman County, State of Washington versus Alexia Braramlet. Okay? This is your notice of hearing, conditions of release and promise to appear. Notice of hearing. I understand the above conditions of release and I promise to comply and appear as directed above >> and I actively still have a valid license." Yes, your license is not uh so I your license is you got to talk about your license today at court. Okay. So, you can as far as I understand you can still drive to court. The rest of your cons uh questions I'm not supposed to answer. Supposed to be up to your attorney. So, >> do I get a copy of that? >> Yeah. Yeah, I'll make you a copy. I am so sorry. I had my breakfast and my breast smells terrible. Had onions in it and now I'm feeling self-conscious. >> But your boyfriend came. He's like, "Come on, I got to get her out of here." And I was like, "All right." >> Yeah. >> Can you make a copy of that, please? Am I allowed to put my shoes on? >> Just give me one more sec. We're almost done with all this. All right. So, this is your criminal citation for uh driving under the influence. Okay. RCW4661502. This is all your information. If anything looks wrong, you need to discuss that with the courts today or you can call the Whitman County Courthouse. Um again, you'll you'll go over all this with your attorney. Okay. >> So, if I don't have money for an attorney, how do I >> You have a public defender. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, >> so there should be >> How do I get a hold of one of them? >> Um, you did you did you talk to one today? >> I talked to an expensive one today. >> How do you know it's expensive? >> Um, I asked them on the phone. >> Okay. What was their name? >> Luke Farming. >> Bombgardner. Yeah. >> Okay. Um, and you don't want to use him? >> I mean, do you know if he like works with people? He he's an attorney, right? So he worked with you, right? So I would call him and let him know, "Hey, I've got court." So >> today. >> Yeah. I'd probably call him when you get out of here and say, "Hey, I have court at 3 p.m. today." And then see what he says, what he advises you on. >> Okay. >> Does that make sense? >> And then if you don't think you can afford it, you can maybe ask him for recommendations on a public defending attorney that he likes or something. Otherwise, you can look at online. There should be the public defenders. >> So no matter what, I'll be able to get one. >> Yeah. Yeah. The public defender is is it's your right. It's your constitutional right to have a public defending attorney. So, yes. >> I don't have to. Okay. This is just for me. >> That's for you. Yes. All right. And um once you make sure all your stuff is there, I'll have you sign there. And that just says that all your property was returned. And then there's um what you blew. This is your request for a DUI hearing. And I will go get your paperwork over there. Well, I wish you best of luck with your psychology stuff. >> I think it's admiral you want to be a police psychologist, but maybe you're mad at us now today. >> I'm a little mad right now. >> Yeah. >> Next time, get a get a a sober driver. There's your copy of your notice of hearing. Okay. >> [sighs] >> More so I'm just mad for being in there so long. >> I You're out earlier. >> I know, but my butt hurts. >> Yeah. And she left you with your phone. We never do that. You were in there. Yeah. You're just in there Snapchatting or whatever. >> Is this your notes? >> Um >> Haley, Cindy. >> Oh, that was hers. >> The officers. Okay. >> What was her name? Is your name on there? >> Yes, Officer Lanley's on there. >> And then is your name on there as well? >> Right there. My name? >> Yeah. >> Uh, no. But if you uh I'll be attached to the case cuz I showed up at one point. Um, you want my I don't know if I have a business card. >> Just want to write your I'm sorry. I'm trying to get all the I don't know how this stuff works. >> Yeah, of course. So, my badge number will be 443 and then my name is Officer Guile. >> And then there was another officer that showed up there. >> Mhm. >> Tonight. >> Okay. >> Um I didn't I don't know who she was though. How do I get contact? So everything you'll be able to your attorney will get through public uh records requests, but I will write down just for you cuz we all it's all logged on the radio log, body cam, all that stuff. So, >> um, >> and then, um, so if my friend I have my friend's ID, >> if they visit me again soon, can they get that from here? How long do you guys live on the IDs here? >> I don't know. I don't Is it associated with another criminal charge or did they just confiscate it? >> They just confiscated it from me because it was in my wallet. >> Okay. And >> uh I don't know if she's got another You got it. >> This is mine. >> Where is she adding another charge with it or is she giving it back? No. Okay. Um >> this is mine. >> Okay. Uh I will send that officer an email to see what she's going to what she's where it is because if it's not here, I don't know where she would put it. >> And you don't have it in your pockets or anything? No. >> Okay. >> So, it wasn't listed here. >> Okay. So, that's why I'm wondering if she was gonna if she's and she did she say anything about charging you with >> No, it was just in my wallet. >> Okay. So, >> all right. I will email her and uh let her know. >> Do I write on here >> of what's missing? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. Um, I've never had stuff like this happen. So, um, >> I don't even know why they took it cuz >> Well, technically, depending on how it was presented, right? So, technically having somebody else's identification is illegal, right? Cuz people use other people's IDs to go to bars and drink, right? Okay. >> And so, I don't know if she would, that's why I'm don't know if she was pursuing something like that or if she's just going to give it back. So, um, >> I'll just sign and have my friend call. I It's her problem. >> Well, we'll we can write it down. I'm missing friends license. And again, like I said, I've got my body cam on, so it's not like we're trying to do >> Yeah. >> something weird. And I'll email her as soon as you get out of here. >> Cool. Um, it's her problem, honestly. She's trying to get her as long as >> Yeah. Your Is that your lawyer friend? >> No, that's my other >> Your other homie girl. Okay. >> How do you know I have a lawyer friend? >> Because that's all she was screaming. We were we were just sitting there talking and she was >> she was she wasn't the friendliest. There was a couple friendly people. She was not friendly. >> Oh, well that's my best friend. [laughter] >> Well, I guess she's protective of you. Do you have any questions about anything you have? >> Um, >> okay. Don't forget you have court today. >> If you don't show up, >> there's a warrant. Do not drive. Go sleep or something, but do not drive. If you get pulled over a second time and get another DUI, it's not good. All right. And you were still pretty high. Uh, what wind did you blow? Like two. >> Alexia was later fingerprinted and photographed by officer Jose after spending some time inside a cell. She was charged with DUI in violation of RCW46.61 5002. Officer Ga returned her property, advised her of her charges, and released her pending her court appearance >> hours ago, so I'd still give it more time. Not that I do have one, but my friends got it. >> Okay. >> All righty. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. Officer >> Guile. >> Guy, >> be safe. >> Thank you.
