What do you mean? You guys are accusing me of lighting a bunch of fires. >> Well, there's the suspect on this one is a white female, 5'5, medium to heavy build. >> Well, I'm 52 and a half. >> Okay. Well, they can't see that from across the block. >> On January 28th, 2022 in Tacoma, Washington, Sarah Jane Ramy was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of James Elliot, who died in an arson fire at his home on Rose Mount Way. Spoiler details are in the video description, and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> And I was just arrested in front of my dead boyfriend's parents' house that they have heart problems and he has COPD and they're about to die and I'm moving in to take care of them and now I probably don't even have a place to live. Okay, Sarah, we just wanted to have a a quick [snorts] conversation with you. Is that something that you're willing to do with us while we're here so that we can get to the bottom of some of this stuff? I I apologize. I've heard that you had a death in the family. Um, and I know that's hard. I know that's difficult and I'm sorry that you're I'm sorry that you're going through that. I really am. Detective Conl and I, we're not like the normal uniform police, right? Um, we're just doing a job. We're just in here to simply talk to you. >> So, what is this about? >> Okay. So, are you do you are you willing to talk with me? Sure. Okay. >> Can I get can I get your signature there and then what I'll do is I'll witness it and then we can kind of get into it a little bit. >> So, does that mean I'm under arrest or something? >> Well, we need to No, I mean we need to obviously discuss with you about what's going on and make that determination, right? I mean, there's some questions we're going to have to ask of you, and that also gives you an opportunity um to let us know your side of the story. That gives us an opportunity to tell you kind of why we're here and what we're doing. So, [clears throat] the reality is is um a lot of times before we'll ask you questions, we already know the answers to it, right? There's a reason why we knew where you were at. There's a reason why we took you into custody. We're not just driving around the city of Tacoma and taking people into custody just to take them into custody and come up here and talk to them. They have better things to do, right? So, a lot of times we know the answers that we're looking for and we know what's going on before we actually bring you in because we're not going to bring you in not knowing that information. That's not how we operate as police officers and detectives, especially detectives. So, I'm going to ask you a series of questions. We're going to talk a little bit, but I know the answers to these things. Okay? And so, uh, before I do that, um, where are you living right now? I know I know that this is it's a sore subject. I know it's it's kind of hard, but I just I got to kind of get some of these questions answered to be able to move on. So, where are you currently living >> in Lakewood? The same place I have been living. >> What And and what is that address? >> 15112 Grant Avenue, Southwest Lakewood. >> Grant Avenue Southwest Lakewood. Um, Washington. [clears throat] Is that 98405? 9848. >> 98. 98408. How long have you >> 498? >> I'm sorry. 98498. >> How long have you been living there? >> Um 11 years. >> 11 years. Okay. Um [clears throat] >> but I'm being evicted right now because >> Oh, >> my boyfriend died and >> I can't afford my rent. >> What happened? What happened to your boyfriend? >> He had a heart attack. >> Oh my goodness. >> At work. >> Okay. Where did he work at? um we worked together. We we were clearing a property um on 71st a big it was like an acre behind somebody's yard >> and he went there and he died with a chainsaw and >> Oh my gosh. >> And we didn't find him for two days because the lady didn't she said he wasn't there but he was there and he was dead. >> Oh my gosh. I think I read that report that it took a couple days and somebody said they found the their landscape. I guess the lady there said she found the landscaper. >> She found Yeah, my boyfriend. >> Okay. I'm I'm sorry to hear that. I really am. I I can imagine how hard that must be. Um so I'm assuming being evicted. Who is this? Your boyfriend's family's house at 11 or 15112? >> No, my boyfriend's family's house is where I just got arrested in front of. That was my next That was my next question. So, what were you doing at the 415 South 55th? That was your ex. That was your ex-boyfriend's house. >> Yeah, I was cleaning their garage out for them and and helping his mom take a bath cuz she can't get around. >> Perfect. Um, who's living who has the property there at um uh 15112 Grant that is evicting you? Why are they evicting? >> John Fatheringham. Cuz I can't pay my rent. >> John Fatheringham. Are you are you working right now, Sarah? Are you >> Well, it's winter time and I do landscaping, so not really. >> Okay. Okay. Um, >> well, I take care of Derek's mom and dad, though. >> And Derek was your is your boyfriend? He was my boyfriend. >> Okay. And you take care of mom and dad. Take care. >> Well, I helped take care of him. I mean, his dad can get around, okay, but he can't breathe very good. He has COVID. >> Okay. >> Oh, wow. Is that the Is that the older gentleman that was there this morning? Okay. All right. Um, perfect. So, the reality is, um, Sarah is I think you probably know why you're here. Um, I think I think we both know why you're here, right? >> And and a lot of the times, like I told you, we we kind of know the answers to this. So, I'm asking for your cooperation today and I'm just asking for your honesty. Um, what >> is it >> because I took extra bags of fertilizer? Okay. >> Not at all. Nope. Not at all. So, [clears throat] what what can you tell me about the fires that are happening across the city right now throughout the city? >> I don't know. They're scary. >> Yeah, they [snorts] are. >> And so, I'm going to put video cameras up for Derek's mom and dad. And that's why I was cleaning up the backyard is cuz it said to clean up the clutter. >> Okay. [snorts] So, um you don't you don't have a clue on what's going on with any of the fires and remember um >> No, I seen the map thing. >> I remember remember that. Um remember that I know the answers to a lot of this stuff. What map did you see? >> The thing on the on my phone. It said where all the fires were. [snorts] >> Map on your phone. >> Okay. So, um >> and yeah, me and Derek's mom seen it on the news. We were watching it. >> Okay. And news. What um do you have any idea of what's going on with any of those fires? Um obviously those fires um and just and just getting the timeline right um calendar-wise um those fires started on Tuesday. You know they I mean there was a few before but obviously Tuesday what we're interested in is Tuesday the 25th um through the evening hours into the early morning hours of the 26th just so you can kind of see that. So, so evening, afternoon and evening, right? Afternoon and evening into the morning of the 26th. And [clears throat] the reality is is well, where were you? Where were you on the on the early um or early afternoon evening hours of the 25th? >> I was at my friend Dean's house. Dean Tommpkins. He lives >> Is it D E an A? >> D E A N Tomkins. >> Yeah. He lives um on 6th Avenue. >> Okay. Dean Tommpkins on 6th Avenue approximately. Where at on 6th Avenue? >> Um it's right next to the Jack in the Box. I don't know. >> So right there like Trafton is that >> closer to closer to Hilltop or closer to >> Yeah, I think it's I think it's Trafton is one of the crossroads. I think it's Sixth and Trafton. >> Sixth and Trafton. Sixth Avenue and Trafton. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What were you doing? What were you doing at Dean's house that night? >> Um, having sex. >> Okay. Okay. So, you're intimate with Dean? >> Well, I guess kind of. >> Just a hookup. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. What time was that at? >> Um, I don't know. It was most of the night. >> Okay. >> So, you you were there. >> What time did you show up? What time did you show up? What were you doing before you showed up with Dean? Where were you at before you showed up with Dean? >> I think I think I was at Derek's mom and dad's house. >> Okay. So, prior to Dean >> Mhm. >> Um Dean's you were >> you were So you were at the 55th Street address. >> Yeah. >> You were you were at 55th Street with Dererick's mom and dad. >> Mhm. >> Um [clears throat] Okay. >> Yeah. Interesting. So, what time what time did you leave Dererick's mom and dad's place to go over to Dean's? >> Um, probably 9 or 10. >> Left at night? >> Yeah. >> Left at 900 p.m. 9 in between 9 and 10:00 p.m. to go to Deans. >> Mhm. >> You show up to Deans and what do you do? >> Um, have sex. >> Okay. Is that why you went there specifically is to have sex? >> Yeah, pretty much. >> Okay. Are you long time friends with Dean or something? Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And so after after you go to Dean's um what do you what do you do? Do you are you there all night or do you go home? >> No, I went and met my friend Shy >> Left Dean. >> Yeah. Shy Zia Fathy I think his name is with Shai. >> Yeah. >> Is that his first name? >> Yeah. >> Do you know how to spell? >> Well, it's Shyheim or something. It's s h a >> s h a >> h a i e n or something and then z. >> So shaheen >> something. And the last name is what? >> Z I A F A T H. >> Oh >> Y. Zafy. Yeah. >> Zafy. Z I A F A T H Y. >> Yes. I've been best friends with him and his wife for lots and lots of years. >> Where do they live? They live in Lakewood. >> Okay. Where where approximately in Lakewood? >> Um right off of 90th and South Dakota way. >> Off 90th and STW. >> Okay. What [clears throat] time What time do you show up? Um if you showed up at Dean at 9 to 10. >> Yeah. It was probably like 4:00 in the morning or something. >> So [clears throat] Lakewood 90th and you go over to his house and you get there about 4:00 a.m. >> Mhm. and I talked to him for a couple minutes and then um I went home. [snorts] >> So 4:00 a.m. you arrive at at Shaheen's house >> and then you leave leave at what 10 15 20 30 minutes later. Half hour >> like a half hour maybe. Wasn't very much longer. >> 30 minutes later. >> Yeah. >> And you go home which is to the address there in Telecom. >> Yeah. [snorts] Go home to [clears throat and cough] go home to go home to 15112 Grant. Okay. Just trying to get the lay of the land. So when you go home to Grant now, you're home on basically the early morning hours of the 26th, right? Um, so you're home at at um if you arrived at Z or at Shaheim at 4:00. >> Yeah, it was like >> so 4:30. >> It was like 5 or something when I got home. >> 500 a.m. >> Yeah. >> On the 26th. Is that right? >> Mhm. Okay. >> Yeah, cuz I ended up sleeping until like noon that day. >> Okay, perfect. So So [clears throat] here's here's the here's the interesting fact. Okay. Um Sarah and and what we need to try to figure out, you tell me that you go to Dean Hopkins um on 6th Avenue, 6th in the Trafton area, >> right? Um you're intimate with Dean and prior to uh Dean's uh you were at 55th Street with your with your uh ex-boyfriend's um mom and dad. You left there at around 9:00 in between 9:00 and 10:00. Um um from 55th to go to Deans. You left Deans and met up with Shaheim around 4:00 a.m. >> Um at 4:00 a.m. you're there for about 30 minutes and then it takes you 15, 20, 30 minutes to get home. >> You're home by about 5. >> Yeah. >> Right. Okay. So, [clears throat] um there's there's some inconsistencies with that. >> Okay. >> And that's why I asked you for your timeline, okay? Um we're having these fires throughout the city, okay? And I'm just going to be honest with you. I have you at quite a few of those fires, okay? And and here hear me out. I have you at a lot of those fires. I do. people, people all over the city, people at their homes. Um, and understand me, people are scared to death, right? And people were scared to death before this. And everybody's got a Ring doorbell camera. >> Everybody's got surveillance, >> okay? >> Um, there's witnesses that are out smoking on their front porches. There's witnesses that are standing around um, observing things that are going on. And the reality is is that I have placed you at a lot of these fires and I have evidence of that. Okay? >> And I'm going to and I'm going to and I'm going to show that to you a little bit so that you understand that. Um I know that um you wear that high visibility yellow jacket with [clears throat] um reflective markings on it. And believe it or not, on a lot of those video surveillance cameras, that high visibility reflective tape glows, right? It's at night. And it's just a little bit of ambient light in those cameras that make those cameras work at night time. It's called infrared, right? And so that infrared, just that little ambient, a street light of a from a street light, or it could be a car headlight, it could be anything. It could be a house light. It makes that stuff glow like you've never seen before. >> What glowing coat are you talking about? >> I'll I'll show you. So So this is this is what your jacket looks like when it glows at night. And that's you. There's the high yellow visibility jacket with the stripes glowing. >> Me. >> Well, it is because there's there's several pictures now. Yeah. Hear me out. This is what another picture at a separate location looks like of you when you're walking into a carport. Okay. This one right here. Okay. So, >> I I don't know what jacket you're talking about. >> Sarah, it is a jacket. So, it's a jacket that's owned that was owned by Metro Parks. Okay. Again, I'm going to prove to you that I know my that I know what I'm talking about and that I know the answers before I ask. So, this jacket was owned by Metro Parks by a Metro Park staff member. [clears throat] I know that you've taken a Metrop Parks truck. Okay. And there was a Metrop Parks vehicle that was taken and there was a jacket that was taken out of that specific truck that you took. Okay. I know that you ditched that Metro Parks truck because I have witnesses and I have information >> that say that it was me also. >> Correct. >> Like, how do all these people know that They they they just do. Okay. There's there's a lot. >> I don't I don't think they do because I know exactly where I was. >> Okay. Sarah, hear me out. >> So, we're going to show you we're going to show you this video right here. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> And then I'm going to show you I could show you a couple more videos on my phone. We're We're not We're just not making >> Maybe somebody freaking looks like me, but that is not me. >> This is not you. >> Okay. Watch. where music comes up here. >> So, there's a there's a sensor light that comes on. There's somebody walking by. See all those lights that pop on that make that that jacket glow? Now, you stop. Those lights stay on, but as you get closer. >> Well, for one, I don't ever walk that slow. Ever. >> Sarah, just watch for a second. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, that high visibility jacket is now glowing like crazy. Mhm. >> And that is you. >> That is not me. >> That is you, Sarah. >> Definitely not me. >> It is. >> Okay. So, [clears throat] it it is you. Um and [clears throat] it has um that >> you know, the reason I agreed to talk to you is because I know I haven't done anything wrong. But do I need to have my uncle here? Can I show you one more video and you just let me know? >> Okay, fine. >> I need to go grab your phone. I need to go grab it. Give me one second. >> Sir, do you have any connections down to the resting area? >> No. >> No. Um, you don't have any friends down there? >> Yes, I mow a yard down there. Actually, >> you mow a yard down there? >> What is that? The 5206 Shirley, something like that. No, it can't be that because >> it's down there. >> It's like two houses in or something like that. Yeah. And I know the resting cop really well, too, because my truck broke down down there and he sat there and visited with me all night. >> Oh, really? When was that? >> Um, it was months and months ago. >> Oh, months ago. >> But yeah. >> But yeah, I know him pretty well. And >> Okay. All right. And you don't know anybody else down there? No, I just know the cop. And who's Chris? >> Chris Sher. They used to live on the corner of 53rd and Shirley right there. >> No, I know somebody that lives two houses two houses in >> and >> I think it is across from the police station. >> Uhhuh. And And that's cuz you would mother grass. >> Yeah, I mother grass. You still do that or no? >> Well, when it gets nice out again, I will. >> It gets down. Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. Um, were you Monday night? Where did you stay Monday night? >> You remember? >> Which? >> But you weren't down in Russ. >> I don't think so. >> Okay. >> I don't have any reason to be in Rustin. Do you ever go to the ammo queen? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You have a player's card? >> Um, yeah. I have a player's card. >> Do you know where your players card's at? >> Yep. It's in my wallet. >> Are you sure? >> I'm positive. I'm positive. I just used it last night. >> Did you get a new one? >> Um, I got new one. I don't know, couple weeks ago because mine was lost. But yeah, I know mine's in my wallet because I just used it last night. >> How can you right here >> [clears throat] >> Pull some pictures. >> So, in other words, you're like accusing me of starting all these fires everywhere. >> We're just >> We're just asking We're not We're not accusing. We're We're simply asking you questions. Let me while while you're pulling some up. >> I'm trying to pull up. I'm uh I was ask I was uh we were just talking about if she's ever been to the Emerald Queen. She has. And I It's a fun place to go. Yeah. >> What's your favorite game, Sarah? >> I don't know. They all take my money. >> It's right. [laughter] You play soccer table. >> I play slots. >> Um so this is >> [clears throat] >> Oh, it it popped out. Hold on. So, this is a VIP card that was found at one of the scenes This was found at one of the scenes of the fire. >> Yeah, cuz mine is in my wallet. Mine is in my wallet. I know it is. I used it last night. >> Okay. Well, we can get it. Yes. So, the problem is is this was found at the scene of of a fire. You can see that it's burnt. And at that fire, we have video surveillance. Okay. >> Okay. And so it's a little hard um when we have video surveillance, we have witnesses. So there are people in Rustin that know you, right? Cuz you do yard care. >> Yeah, there's there's a lady that knows me. >> There's multiple people in Rustin that know you. >> No, there's only one and a cop and that's it. And so we're getting we're getting information, right, about cars and about people and about things like that. So we were informed [clears throat] after after we got your card there, we had had numerous witnesses see your white pickup truck also in the area of these fires. They had they had mentioned listen to me for and I'm going to show you here in a second. They had mentioned to us that there was this there was this suspicious white truck and there [clears throat] was this female carrying a tote, carrying a bag and she was wearing this high visibility jacket that said um Metro [clears throat] Park staff on the back of it and we've through our investigation what you got to understand is through our investigation we have solicited Crimestoppers for our assistance. Well, that's why you see the stuff on the news. So does everybody else. >> So all of a sudden, people are sending us, flooding us with their addresses and video um still pictures and video evidence off of their cameras, their surveillance cameras, cameras in the alleys, cameras in corporates. And so >> so when when you talk to Dean and find out that I was actually having sex with him that night, then then what are you guys going to do? >> The Well, hear me out. The time fra the time frame the time frame of when you're having sex with him isn't necessarily the time frame of when all of these fires happened. These fires occurred throughout the evening hours starting on the Tuesday evening of the 25th and through early morning hours of the 26th. >> Yeah. And >> so so hear me [clears throat] hear me out. So, um, you were telling me that how did I know and you don't have a high visibility jacket like that and that that's not you and then that wasn't you walking in to the carport, but somehow somehow you came into possession of somebody else's credit card. Okay? Everything that I'm telling you I already know. And I'm telling you things that you know in the back of your mind you're like, "These guys know what they're talking about." Okay? Because I'm telling you things that you are going to understand, right? I'm not telling you that you were on the Tacoma Narrow's Bridge and I saw you throw evidence off into the water. You're going to look at me and go, "I wasn't at the Tacoma Arrow's Bridge and I didn't throw anything off cuz you weren't. You weren't there." But when I tell you that you came into possession of somebody else's credit card and unfortunately that [clears throat] credit card was taken from a location across the street from two separate fires that we have you standing in the driveway of in that high visibility jacket. Okay? And then later that next morning you use that stolen credit card. And when you use that stolen credit card, you not only use that stolen credit card, but you're wearing the high visibility jacket. Here's you pulling into the Chevron. I told you everybody has video >> filling up your truck with >> filling up your truck with $43 in gas. That is you. That is your truck. It is your license plate. You are wearing the high visibility jacket that says Metro Parks on the back. You're getting into the tote in the back of the bed of your truck that we've seen you carrying to include the tote you were just carrying in the video my partner showed you. And you go around and you fill up with $43 worth of gas. Okay. So now while you're at the pumps, you go and fill up $43. That's your truck. I get it. But you just told me you don't have a high visibility jacket like that that says Metro Parks. You're wearing it. I didn't I didn't I didn't make this video up of you. Now, hold on. So, here's you at the counter paying with that stolen credit card. That's That's you, Sarah. There's your dark hair going into your red hair. Okay, that's you. That's your truck. Nobody else was driving that truck with that license plate number. And that license plate number is registered to your [ __ ] fires. >> That truck you're driving with that license plate is registered to your deceased boyfriend. I didn't light any fires. >> Well, so here's some still shots of you as well inside the store getting coffee. That's that's you. That's exactly your hair currently as I see it right now with the high visibility jacket. And that jacket was taken out of a truck that was stolen in Rustin, dumped over at 5300 Bennett. and the witnesses at 5300 Bennett IDed you as the person unloading your belongings from the stolen truck into your white pickup truck and they gave us the license plate of your white pickup truck. Then you take off from there, right? And I I'm just I I'm I'm telling you um what we what we know we know what's going on. We already know the answers. We have a lot of evidence, right? We have a lot of evidence to include you in this high visibility jacket glowing in the vicinity of these fires. >> So, if you have all this evidence, then why aren't you why am I not in jail? >> Well, cuz we wanted to give our Well, you know why is because when we bring people into question them, a lot of times it really helps us. It takes a lot of weight off of you, too. It really does. It frees you up to know that you know what? This doesn't make you a bad person. Nobody died. >> I didn't start any fires. >> So, >> oh my god. >> So, who >> Oh my goodness. >> Who is this then? At the scene of these fires, >> I didn't start any fires. [clears throat] >> And I was having sex with Dean. >> Well, that during the time you had sex with Dean was not the time that these fires occurred. >> So, it doesn't matter that you were having sex with Dean between 9 and 10. The fact of the matter is is that these fires happened and believe it or not >> and when did these fires happen? >> They happened between the evening hours of Tuesday the 25th and Monday or in the next morning of the 26th. Here's here's the other problem, right? Is that Dean lives at 6th and Trafton. >> Mhm. >> Sarah, my first my first fire happened at Sixth and Trafton. My second fire happened at 6:18 South St. >> I was having sex with Dean. How was I starting fires while I was having sex? >> That didn't This did not occur at at 9:00. This occurred before you were having sex with Dean. Then the other problem is is I have another one at 6:45 drafted. Okay. So, so here, so here's the problem. Here, here's here's the problem is that at >> I was at Deans for a long time. You told me you were there for for less than an hour >> and that you left to go to Shihan's place. >> Cheyenne >> Shy Cheyenne, I'm sorry. Cheyenne's place. So So you weren't there for a long time and >> was there long enough to have sex? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Absolutely. But so here's here's the here in lies the problem is I have you in the vicinity because you just told me where you were at. at the time you were there. I have video of you wearing the high visibility jacket, driving the white truck that I've been given license plates to. >> I feel like you guys are trying to [ __ ] entrap me now. I think I think I need to talk to my I think you guys need to talk to my uncle. >> How How am I entrapping you when I fix I didn't start any freaking fires. [laughter] >> Okay. Well, here >> So, am I under arrest? >> I need a >> Here's the deal. >> Here's the deal. is we want to be able to clear this up for the public, >> right? You told me. >> So, you guys need somebody to blame. >> No. >> So, you might as well blame me. >> Well, I don't have a place to live now, so you know, that's probably a good idea. [ __ ] >> Well, I have I have at at 47th and Orchard. I have a fire at 47th [clears throat] and Orchard, and your Emerald Queen players card that we just showed you a picture was was left at that scene. Okay. I have multiple other fires that we have you at. And I don't and I don't make these videos up, Sarah. I I don't make them up. I don't create them. I don't make you pull into the Chevron in your white truck and and go grab stuff out of the tote that you're seen carrying at most of these fires. >> People have a lot of stressors in life. And we get it. You've had you've had a lot of stress. You've had more than most. And we're just we're simply >> you guys need somebody to blame. Blame me. Yep. So, um, can I talk to my uncle now? Can you guys call him since I asked to have my uncle here at the beginning and you guys are just trying to accuse me of this? >> Well, we're not trying to accuse you of >> Yeah, you guys are. >> Is the stuff that we have is is that real stuff or did I did I make those videos up? Did I Did I impose you in those videos? I didn't. I'm I'm simply going off of what what I'm being told. Sarah, I'm I'm not making any of this up. I'm not. And I'm And I'm simply being I'm following up on information from Crimestoppers and witnesses and videos and surveillance photos and and >> and cameras. >> And nobody nobody freaking said I started any fires cuz I didn't start any fires. >> Okay. What were you doing at those scenes then? What were you doing there? >> I wasn't at any fire scenes. I didn't see any fires. >> Do you recognize this backyard? >> Well, we see you douse the outside of this house with with a fluid. And after you douse the outside of this house with the fluid, >> what is >> you light you light a rag on fire. >> What is >> that is not me. >> You know what's kind of weird? >> What >> is you know where they picked you up today? >> Huh? >> Next block over. You know what's weird in that? 30 minutes before this, there's another fire on the corner. >> That's not me. >> So So they [clears throat] just picked you up at 4:15, right? At at at um 4:155th. >> Mhm. That video right there is at four at South 54th. >> 427 >> 427 South 54th. Sarah Jane Ramy was originally charged in Pierce County with first-degree murder, two counts, seconddegree murder, multiple first-degree arson counts, attempted arson, burglary, identity theft, and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with a 2021 to 2022 Tacoma area arson series that included the death of James Elliot. On July 3rd, 2024, a jury found her guilty of first-degree murder, 13 counts of arson, two counts of attempted first-degree arson, burglary, identity theft, and motor vehicle theft, and not guilty of seconddegree murder, and one murder theory tied to burglary. On July 23rd, 2024, she was sentenced to 980 months, more than 81 years, in prison, an exceptional term above the standard range. Washington's sentencing reform act generally does not provide traditional parole for this class of adult sentence and the term is effectively a life sentence. As of the most recent verified public reporting after sentencing, Remy remained in Department of Corrections custody with no published record of release. Her attorney indicated an appeal at the time of sentencing.
