Not getting my answer. You have your driver's license, insurance. >> Okay. >> On October 26th, 2025, at approximately 1:51 a.m., Officer Nicholson with the St. Charles Police Department observed a gray 2017 Chevrolet Malibu speeding 40 m in a 25 mph on Main Street. After pacing the vehicle, he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver turned onto the 0 to 999 block of S10th Avenue and pulled over. Officer Nicholson advised dispatch of his location and made contact with the driver who was identified as 26-year-old Alicia Melson. >> You have your insurance as well. >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you know why you got pulled over? >> No. >> Do you know what the speed limit is back there? >> I'm sorry. I'm not from around here, so I don't >> Okay. Do you see the speed limit signs? >> I wasn't honestly paying attention to that. >> Okay. It's 25 miles an hour. You know how fast you were driving? >> No. >> I paced you at 40 mph. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay. Have we had something to drink tonight? >> No. >> None at all? >> No. >> Okay. Is everybody in the car? Everybody else in the car that been drinking then? >> Yes. >> Okay. Cuz I can smell alcohol coming from your vehicle. >> Yes. Okay. It's coming from them, not from you. >> No. >> Okay. All righty. Where are you coming from? >> We were coming from the hive. >> The hive >> and see Carl's. Yeah. I'm dropping them off at their apartment. >> Okay. And then where are you going? >> I was honestly going to spend the night. >> Okay. >> At their apartment. Yeah. >> Okay. And where's their apartment at? >> Okay. All right. I'll be right back with you. Sorry, I was right here. >> Yeah. No, I I didn't know. I thought you were still on the other stop. So, um, so she's saying that she hasn't drank. I, >> uh, Pacster 40 and a 25, >> and then she's saying she hadn't had anything to drink. The whole car reeks like alcohol coming out. >> Um, >> eyes are bloodshot, a little bit glossy, but I don't know if the alcohol is just coming from everyone. She said everyone else in the car has been drinking. So, I don't know if it's coming from her or for them yet just cuz we haven't got her out. So, >> she's being cool. >> She's being cool. Um, >> she's kind of calm, very nervous when she had the paperwork and stuff. Very shaky. So, but I mean, loose presence, too. So, >> cool. >> Uh, I was just going to get her out and away from the vehicle to see if I can still smell it or not. And >> All right. For sure. >> And put her through it. >> He told Alicia that she was speeding. As he was speaking with Alicia, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She told him that she was coming from the Hive Tavern and ery in St. Charles and that she was heading over to her friend's apartment. Based on his suspicion of impairment, he called officer Moravski to the scene to assist. After officer Moroski arrived on scene, Alicia was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. While she initially denied consuming any alcohol, she admitted to officer Moravski that she consumed the drinks earlier that evening. >> If I did, so >> what's her name? >> Hello there. >> Hi. How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> I'm good. >> Can you do me a favor? Step out for me, please. >> Yeah, of course. I'm getting shut down by my front lights just >> up. >> How much? What's up with you? >> I'm okay. I'm sorry. The lights is just really bright. >> It's okay. He turned them off. Where you guys coming from? >> We came from the hive in St. Charles. >> What's that? >> Is that a bar? >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> Uh, just doing like Halloween party. >> Um, no, it's not Halloween party. It's just a bar. >> I gotcha. >> Yeah. Um, how much should they drink tonight? >> Me? Not much. >> Well, not much. >> How much? >> I have two drinks. >> Okay. Um, Tall Boys mixed drinks. >> Two vodka Red Bulls. >> Okay. When was your first vodka Red Bull? >> Um, around 9:00 p.m. >> Okay. And when was your last one? >> Around 9:30. >> Okay. Do you have anything to eat today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Uh, when was the last time you ate something? >> I didn't check the time when I ate something. >> Well, like lunch, dinner. >> I had breakfast and then I had dinner. >> Okay. Um, are you on any type of medication? >> No. >> You seen a doctor for anything? >> No. >> Do you do uh any recreational drugs? >> No. >> What about cannabis? >> No. >> No. Okay. Um, ever have a head injury? >> No. >> All right. Uh, you feeling ill or you feel okay right now? >> I feel okay. Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Are you wearing contacts? >> No. >> Um, do you wear glasses regularly? >> No. >> Supposed to. >> 2020 vision. >> Nice. All right. Do me a favor. Can you come over this way for me? >> Please. >> The first field sobbriety exercise was the horizontal gaze nestagmas HGN test. During the HGN test, Alicia failed to follow instructions. The second exercise was the walk and turn test. During the walk and turn test, Alicia did not touch heel to toe on each step turned improperly and did not count in the correct sequence. The final exercise was the one leg stand test and Alicia was unable to perform this test satisfactorily. >> Right? So, I want you to do stand with your feet together and your hands down at your sides just like this. Okay? Don't do anything till I tell you to. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. I want you to follow the tips of my fingers with your eyes only. Okay? Please. Okay. >> See my two fingers like a velociraptor. >> Yes. >> All right. I want you to follow them with your eyes only. >> Do not move your head. >> Okay. >> Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. Can you put your hands at your sides and don't move? >> Okay. Be again. Don't move your head. >> Do you have allergies? >> No. >> Is there any reason why your eyes are so bloodshot and glassy? >> No. >> Did you work today? I'm just really tired. I >> I'm so I'm sorry. I You're just asking. No, >> it's okay. >> Yeah. Yes. >> Just follow with your eyes only. Do not move her head. Okay. Don't move her head. Don't move your head. All right. Looks like you're having some trouble doing two things at once. So, let's try this one. Okay. I like you to stand. Uh, come on. Back here a little bit. Just stand like right here. All right. Face me. Okay. I want you to take your left foot and pretend there's a straight line jutting out in front of that officer's uh vehicle right there. Okay. The front of his vehicle. >> You want me to walk on that or just >> No, right here is fine. So, pretend there's a straight line coming out from your left foot. Okay. Okay. >> All right. I want you to put your right foot over left and touch heel to toe in a straight line. >> Okay. >> So, I want you to do that now, please. No. No. Right over left. >> You said >> right over left. Yep. And put your hands down at your sides. Okay. Don't do anything till I tell you to. Do you understand that? >> Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. When I tell you to begin, I want you to walk nine heel totoe steps down that line towards this officer squad. When you get to the ninth step, Yep. nine. When you get to the ninth step, your several small steps to turn around and then you'll walk nine heel to toe steps back down that imaginary line. Okay? Do you understand that so far? Okay. When I tell you to begin, I'm going to demonstrate what I want you to do. One, two, three, all the way until nine heel toe steps down that line. You get that nine step several small steps to turn around just like this. And then one, two, three, all the way until nine heel to toe steps back down that line. Do you understand everything so far? >> Yes. >> All right. During the entirety of test, I want you to keep your hands down at your sides, look down at your feet, and count all your steps out loud. Once you start the test, do not stop until you've completed it. Okay? >> All right. Can you maintain that starting position for me, please? Like I demonstrated, do you understand everything that I explained to you? >> I do. All right. >> Am I allowed to look like down or do you just want me to explain it? >> Well, I explain the test to you, right? Remember, keep your hands down at your sides, look down at your feet, and count your steps out loud. >> I know. There's nothing to be nervous about. Once you start the test, do not stop until you've completed it. Do you understand all the instructions? I explained them to you. All right. So, please start that test for me and begin. Two. Three. When you start, when I tell you to begin, rather, I want you to raise either your right or your left foot up. For this demonstration, I'm going to raise my right. Okay? Approximately 6 in up off the ground. Keep the sole of your foot parallel to the ground. I want you to look down at your raised foot and count loud like this. 1,00 1,002 1,003 1,004 until I tell you to stop. Keep your arms and your legs straight. >> Okay? That's how I like you to blow in this breath instrument. Okay. I'm blowing two clicks on. >> Thanks, Right. >> Officer, I would I don't want to do that. >> Okay. >> Based on her speeding, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Moravski placed Alicia under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was handcuffed, Alicia was placed in the patrol car and transported by Officer Moravski to the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. Officer Nicholson conducted an inventory and released her three passengers from the scene. >> Do me a favor. Turn around for me. You're going to be under arrest for alcohol. Do you understand? Do you understand that, ma'am? Hello. 21. 71. Sorry, I'm not a risk like a rest.
