He paced the car for a bit. Then he flipped on his emergency lights to pull it over. The driver swung onto the 0-99 block of South 10th Avenue and stopped. Officer Nicholson radioed his spot to dispatch. He approached and met the driver, a 26-year-old woman named Alysha Maulson. He let her know she had been speeding. As they talked, he smelled alcohol on her breath. He also saw signs she might be impaired. She said she had come from The Hive Tavern and Eatery in St. Charles. Her plan was to head to her friends' apartment. Sure she was under the influence, he called Officer Murawski for backup. Once Officer Murawski got there, they asked Alysha to step out of the car. They wanted her to do some field sobriety tests. At first, she said she hadn't drunk any alcohol. But later, she told Officer Murawski she had two drinks that night. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, or HGN. Alysha didn't follow the directions right. Next came the Walk and Turn test. She missed touching heel to toe with each step. Her turn was off, and she counted wrong. The last one was the One Leg Stand. She couldn't do it well at all. After the tests, they offered her a Preliminary Breath Test, or PBT. She said no. Officer Murawski saw her speeding, her admission about the drinks, and her poor test results. He arrested her for driving under the influence. He cuffed her and put her in his patrol car. Then he drove her to the St. Charles Police Department for more steps. Officer Nicholson checked the car and let her three passengers go from the scene. At the station, Alysha wouldn't give a breath sample. They wrapped up the paperwork. Later, they let her go until court. She faced these charges: Driving under the influence of alcohol, under 625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2). Speeding, under 625 ILCS 5/11-601(b). 4:18 FUPA YESSSSS If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
