So what happened today before us coming out? >> Before you guys coming up here, I was in uh so I went to um Cosmos with my boyfriend and then we were there and then we went to pick up my car that it was close to 111 which is like close to u um what's it called? Um, >> so that's your boyfriend? >> That's your boyfriend? >> Okay. >> Um, >> around 12:39 a.m. on August 31st, 2023, officers Nicholas's Quiro and Javier Causes of the Boca Raton Police Department were on patrol in the parking lot of the standard, a popular restaurant and bar in Boca Raton, Florida. Around this time, the officers were flagged down by people in the parking lot, informing them that a white 2020 Toyota CHR had just struck two vehicles, a 2017 Audi and a 2017 Ford, and was now fleeing the scene. >> I saw there's some damage on your car. >> So, how did that damage come? Um like three months ago, I was picking up my son from um from that house and the on street where he lives. There was um in front of me there was a guy with the uh but he didn't have the flat that you used. Officer is Quido observed the vehicle leave the parking lot and head southbound on SE Misner Boulevard. The officers began following the vehicle and initiated a pursuit. During their pursuit, they noticed the vehicle turned left to go southbound on South Federal Highway. On South Federal Highway, they noticed that the driver was swerving between lanes. Eventually, the officers were able to initiate a traffic stop in the vicinity of South Federal Highway and SC15 Street. Once the vehicle was stopped, they made contact with the driver who was identified as 39year-old [ __ ] Medina. >> Like put >> So, you can see that there is like um one of those um where you put the trailer, the boat. >> Mhm. So, I hear that you're saying this happened a couple months ago, but the damage looks pretty fresh. >> I'm just wondering if that might have happened today. >> You can you can actually call. >> You have damage on the side of your car. >> That is a long time ago. >> This one here. Officer is Quido asked [ __ ] if she was aware what had happened. She stated that she was trying to drive home. When he subsequently asked [ __ ] if she had been involved in a crash, [ __ ] was in denial. During this time, Officer Stevenson responded to the scene of the motor vehicle accident and made contact with the owners of the two damaged vehicles. When reviewing CCTV footage, Officer Stevenson was able to confirm that Sissy's vehicle was responsible for striking those two vehicles. >> What about right before we stopped you? [Music] >> You were leaving the standard, right? >> Did you hit any cars in the parking lot of the standard? No. >> So, if we go speak to people over there, no one's going to say you hit their car? >> No. >> I mean, if they do, does Okay. >> But I didn't. >> He's there's people over there saying that you hit their car. Okay. You don't have anything to say. >> Officer is Quido suspected that [ __ ] was impaired because she was driving erratically. Her eyes were red and glassy and she seemed confused and disoriented. [ __ ] was asked how much she had to drink and she admitted to consuming three glasses of wine. Based on his suspicion of impairment and her admission to consuming alcohol, he informed [ __ ] that his crash investigation was complete and that he would now be initiating a DUI investigation. He read [ __ ] her rights and asked her to perform some field sobriety exercises. [ __ ] agreed to perform them. >> About that. All right. So, if we check the cameras, your car won't be hit. >> I mean, if you want to check the cars, check the cars. I mean the camera and some. >> All right, that's fine. >> What can I do? >> He's He's done with the crash investigation. All right. He's going to move on to a criminal DUI investigation. DUI is a crime and he's investigating >> DUI. >> What is a DUI? driving under the influence of alcohol and or chemical. >> And what is the limit? >> Okay. Do you understand? There's just a couple and you're just going to demonstrate that you're okay to drive because we want to make sure you're okay to drive your car because you tell me you didn't have any cars and we've already concluded that investigation. But what I'm investigating now is that you're okay. >> Happened there. You're going to stand with your feet together with your hands by your side. >> The first exercise was the horizontal gaze nestagmas test and officer is quiro observed a lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nestagmas at maximum deviation and the onset of nestagmas prior to 45°. The second exercise was the walk and turn test. During the walk and turn test, [ __ ] did not walk heel to toe, used her arms for balance, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The third field sobriety exercise was the one leg stand test. During the one leg stand test, [ __ ] failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion while displaying a lack of balance. >> You're going to keep doing that while I explain the rest. Okay? So, just stay like that for me. >> Yep. Keep your put your feet together. Put your like this, your heels together. Yep. You're just going to stay like that while I explain it to you. >> So, you're going to look at my pen. So, just keep your hands by your side. Thank you. So, when I tell you to start, you're going to raise either foot approximately 6 in off the ground. It's going to look like this, but don't do it yet. It's going to look like this. You're going to keep your foot parallel to the ground, and you're going to look at the toe. So, it's going to look like this. Whichever foot you want. It can be your left or your right. That's going to be 6 in off the ground. And you're going to count out loud. And while holding that, you're going to count 1 1,00 2 100 3 100 until I tell you to stop. >> So, keeping your arms at your sides at all times with one leg up. During the finger to nose test, since he only raised the corresponding hand and never touched her nose with the hand instructed to do so, the final exercise was the modified Ramberg balance test, which involved closing her eyes and estimating the passage of 30 seconds. [ __ ] estimated the passage of 30 seconds in 22 seconds. >> Show me your fingers by your side. You're going to put your head back. You're going to close your eyes. And when I tell you to begin, you're going to tell me when you think 30 seconds has passed by. So your eyes your head's going to be back. You're going to be like this, just like just like how you see me. And then I'm going to say begin. And you're going to stay like that just like this until you think 30 seconds has passed by. >> Does that make sense? >> Yeah. So, you have to tell him when you think 30 seconds went by. Okay. Officer is Quiro placed [ __ ] under arrest for driving under the influence. After [ __ ] was placed under arrest, her vehicle was searched and impounded by Westway Towing. [ __ ] was transported without incident to the central breath testing CBT facility at the Penllis County Jail. >> You are going to be placed under [Music] >> you feel that you impaired at this time now. >> Oh wow. [ __ ] consented to submit breath samples for testing. Officer Price responded to BRPD booking and administered the breathalyzer machine. Siss's results indicated that her BAC was at 0.20% to 0% which is more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After the breathalyzer test, [ __ ] was transported by officer Price to Boca Raton Regional Hospital and subsequently transported to the county jail after she was medically cleared. Officer is Quiro issued her the following citations. driving under the influence, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash, two counts of DUI property damage, and driving a vehicle without lights at
