It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At 12:39 a.m. on August 31, 2023, Officers Nicolas Izquierdo and Javier Casas patrolled the lot outside The Standard, a busy spot for eats and drinks in Boca Raton, Florida. Folks in the lot waved them over. They said a white 2020 Toyota C-HR had just hit two cars—a 2017 Audi and a 2017 Ford—then sped off. Izquierdo spotted the car pull out. It turned south on SE Mizner Boulevard. The cops gave chase. Soon, the vehicle swung left onto South Federal Highway, heading south. The driver weaved side to side between lanes. At last, near South Federal Highway and SE 15th Street, they pulled it over. They approached the driver: 39-year-old Sissi Medina. Izquierdo asked if she knew what went down. She said she just wanted to get home. He pressed about the crash. She denied it flat out. Meanwhile, Officer Stephenson checked the accident spot. He talked to the owners of those banged-up cars. CCTV tapes showed clear: Sissi's ride had smashed into both. Izquierdo smelled trouble. She drove wild, eyes red and glassy, mind foggy and lost. He asked about drinks. She owned up to three glasses of wine. With that hunch and her words, he wrapped the crash check. Now came the DUI probe. He recited her rights. Then he asked for sobriety tests. She said yes. She admitted the wine. Tests bombed hard. So Izquierdo cuffed her for DUI. They searched her car. Westway Towing hauled it away. Cops took her smooth to the breath test spot at Pinellas County Jail.
