Hello. >> Hi. >> Get your license and insurance. >> On September 7th, 2025, at approximately 6:07 p.m., officers Wesondorf and Thorp with the St. Charles Police Department responded to a call of a possibly intoxicated person at Cooper's Hawk 3,710 Main Street. The manager of the restaurant told the officers that a visibly intoxicated woman had left the restaurant in a great GMC Sierra and that she was headed westbound on Eain Street. Officer Wessonorf located a GMC Sierra matching the caller's description on E Main Street near Cedar Avenue. So, he made a U-turn and got closer to the vehicle near the main street bridge. >> Thank you. >> I just went on a road trip to Canada, so give me one second. Okay. Where are you coming from today? >> Uh, Geneva. >> Geneva. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Like >> I live right here in Farmington. >> Okay. >> As the GMC Sierra turned northbound onto in Second Street, the driver turned directly into the center lane. He observed the driver swerving, so he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver pulled over into the parking lot of Sernos at 320 on Second Street. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Crystal Marie Kilsvik. Crystal initially told the officer that she had been in Geneva before telling the officer that she was a Cooper's Hawk in St. Charles. So, you just came from Geneva? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where in Geneva did you come from? >> Where in Geneva did you come from? >> Um, >> sorry. >> I'm honestly super nervous. >> Okay. Why? So, um, >> super super honest. >> Okay. Well, I appreciate I I'm just I'm not sure I make the connection. It's a >> Yeah, >> just a traffic stop there. Yeah. No, I know. I just haven't been traffic stopped in a long time. >> Okay. >> So, give me one second. >> Uhhuh. >> It's not like I'm under like I'm not here. Like literally, I'm not doing anything wrong. >> Okay. So, do you have any idea why I stopped you? >> No. >> Okay. So, hold on. >> I don't 10. Okay. So, when you came off 64 right there, you improperly signaled. Okay. You have to signal 100 ft prior to the point of the turn. Okay. You also Hold on a second. >> Hold on a second. Let me finish. You also made an improper turn. Okay. So, when you took a right turn, you turned into the left lane. That's an improper turn. Hold on. One more thing. Okay. And then afterwards when you drove a little bit, you went over the line into the right lane. You understand? >> You did, but that's that's why I stopped you. >> Oh, it totally Can you just give it to me one more time? >> What part? >> All of it. >> Okay. >> I turned >> improper signal >> from >> from 64 >> to >> where you're at now. The roadway you're at now, right? >> Okay. Yep. because I don't understand what you're saying. I just want to like understand. >> Just give it to me one more time. >> Okay. You improperly signaled when he came off a 64 and a 31. Okay. You turn into the wrong lane. >> Okay. >> You have to turn into the right lane and turn into the left lane. Got it. Okay. >> And then your wheels, your right wheels went over the line that separates the left lane and the right lane. >> Okay. >> All right. It's It's not that I'm questioning like you at all. >> No, that's fine. I don't mind I don't mind explaining the reason for this stuff. >> Thank you. Yeah, >> I like there's nothing that I don't agree. I'm just like trying to make sure that I understand. Okay. And I did just get this car very recently. So, >> okay. >> Okay. So, what do you need from me that I didn't give you? >> Your insurance. So, you said you're coming from Geneva. >> Is that correct? >> That's all right. He's He's just hanging out there. >> Hi. >> You can like >> No, you're good. >> No, no, I got no Crystal. No, you're good. >> I promise I have no >> So, listen. Listen to me really quick. Okay. You said you're coming from Geneva. Where in Geneva are you coming from? I was at Cooper's Hawk in St. Charles. I guess it's St. Charles. It's >> Yeah, it's very much St. Charles. How much have you had to drink today? >> I had like three glasses tonight. >> Okay. What time did you get there? >> Way early. >> Way early. Like what time? >> 2. >> 2:00. Okay. Right now, looking at me, what time do you think it is? >> 6:30 7. >> 6:30. 7:00. Okay. All right. So, you had a few glasses of wine. No big deal. Okay. On a scale of 1 to 10, one being stone cold sober and 10 being fall down, pass out drunk, where do you think you rank in that? >> You're scaring me. So, >> I'm just asking you. It's a question. >> Like six. >> Six. Okay. All right. So, as he was speaking with Crystal, officer Wessonorf detected the odor of alcohol and noticed that her speech was slurred. Crystal admitted to consuming three glasses of wine, although a subsequent review of her check at the restaurant indicated that she had purchased six glasses of wine. In order to assess whether or not she was impaired, officer Weston Dorf first asked Crystal to recite the alphabet from D to W, but she did not follow the officer's instructions correctly. She was subsequently unable to count backwards from 68 to 53 as well and continued counting past 53. Crystal was then asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. >> I'm just going to ask you a couple of questions just to kind of get a a feel for your mindset here. Okay. You know the alphabet in English, right? >> I do. >> Okay. I want you to recite the alphabet starting from D like dog and W as in water. Do you understand? A B CDE E F G H I J K I guess. Okay. >> Okay. >> Making me very nervous. >> I'm just asking a question. >> Okay. >> Okay. Is that it? You done? >> No, I'm just Is that what you're asking me to do? >> Oh, I'm asking you to do what I asked you to do. >> A B CDE E F G H I A J K L B Q R S >> I'm just waiting for you to be finished. >> Oh. Are you finished? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You know the numbers in in English 1 to 100, right? >> Sure. >> Okay. I want you to start at 63 or I want you to start at 68. 68. Okay. And I want you to count down to 53. 53. Understand? >> Okay. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> You want me to start at 68? >> Correct. >> And count down to 53. >> Correct. 68 67 66 65 64 63 62 621 60 59 58 57 58 57 56 55 54 53 52 51 50 49 48 47 46 454 quarter 43 42 41 40 39 38. >> You remember what I asked you to count down to? >> Okay, >> I'm asking. Do you remember what I asked you to come down to? >> Okay. 53. >> Super nervous. >> Okay. Well, >> I'm just now I'm I'm doing more of an investigation. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, you said you had three glasses of wine. >> I did. >> Okay. Do you remember what kind of wine you drank? >> Yes. I'm not sure. >> Okay. And you got there around two o'clock, you said. Yes. >> Okay. Gotcha. Okay. >> I'm just trying to make sure you're good to drive here. Okay. >> It's fine. >> Okay. Can you step out for me real quick? >> Yes. Okay, we're going to go over on the sidewalk here just so it's nice and and flat and perfect. Okay. Yep. Just right up there. >> Okay. Any issues with your eyes at all? >> Yes. >> What's the issue with your right here? You step towards me. So, I'm I don't have the light in my eyes either. >> Are you legally allowed to drive? >> Yes. >> Okay. You've got doctor clearance and all that. Okay. Uh, do you wear contact lenses? >> No. Do >> you wear glasses? >> Yes. >> You wear glasses? Do you wear glasses to drive? >> No, they're are fine. >> What do you mean they're fine? >> So, it's like a depth perception thing. So, >> it's not like 30% that I lost is bad. >> The 70% is good. >> Okay. Is that in both eyes or it's just in one eye? >> Both eyes. Okay. All right. But you're not wearing contact lenses right now. You're not. And you don't wear glasses to drive? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. Perfect. All right. Hold on a second here. The first field sobriety exercise was the horizontal gaze nestagmas HGN test. During the HGN test, officer Wessonorf observed the lack of smooth pursuit and distinct sustained nestagmas at maximum deviation and the onset of neistagmas prior to 45°. The second exercise was the walk and turn test. During the walk and turn test, Crystal did not touch heel to toe on each step, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the one leg stand test, and Crystal did not raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. >> Okay, I want you to do like me. You're going to put your feet together, put your hands down at your sides, just like this. Okay? All right. I want you to follow the tip of my finger with your eyes and your eyes only. Don't move your head. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> No, I'm good. You doing okay? Keep keep looking at it. >> Okay. No, no. Just just your eyes. Okay. I know. I know. I get it. But just keep your head facing towards me and your eyes only. Okay. >> Okay. >> You good? Just your eyes. >> Not my head. >> Not your head. >> Got it. Okay. Any problems with your legs? >> No. >> No issues with your legs. Okay. No back problems, nothing like that? >> No. >> Okay. I just want to make sure that uh I got a What do you think? Oh, over here. You think over there or where I'm at? Good. Right here. Okay. All right. I'm just going to have you face this way. Okay. You're going to put right there is good. Right there is perfect. Okay. Here. Uh back up about to about here. Right here. >> Okay. You're good. >> You're good. I'm just trying to have a perfect line here. Okay. >> So, I got you. So, I want to put you I want you to put your left foot in front of you like this. Okay? And pretend that there is a line from the tip of your foot to infinity. Okay? >> To that guy. >> Sure. To that guy. All right? And then I want you to put your right foot directly in front of your left foot. Heel to toe like I'm standing. >> Okay. >> Okay. Keep your hands down at your sides. Now, maintain this position until I tell you to start walking. >> Maintain that position. So, yeah. >> Don't walk. >> Do not walk until I've given you permission to walk. Okay? I'll give you the instructions. So, left foot on the line, right foot directly in front of your left foot, heel to toe like I demonstrated. Hands down at your sides. Maintain this position until I tell you. Okay. When I tell you to, you're going to take nine nine heel to toe steps on the line. Turn around and take nine heel to toe steps back on the line. Make your turn by keeping your front foot on the line and turn by taking a series of small steps with the other foot. I'll demonstrate for you, okay? Just so you understand what I'm saying. Okay? So, that's your line, right? One, two, three. You'll go to nine. I went to three, obviously. Plant that foot. Series of small steps to turn yourself in the other direction. Nine heel to toe steps back. Same thing. One, two, three, until you get to nine. All right. Now, when you're doing this, okay, I want you get back in position, please. When you do this, I want you to look at your feet the entire time. Count your steps out loud. Keep your hands down at your sides. completely to your sides and once you start do not stop the test. Any questions? >> Okay. >> Yes, I do. >> Okay. >> Repeat that one more time. The way that I'm supposed to go this way and then how many times I'm supposed to turn around and go the other way. >> Nine heel to toe steps. >> Nine heel along the line steps this way. >> Correct. And then turn around. >> Nine heel to toe steps back. Just as I explained to you. >> Nine heel to Okay. >> Are you ready? >> Yep. All right, begin. No comment. >> I'm just waiting for you to finish the test. Okay. >> All right. Any issues balancing on one foot? >> Not that I know of. >> Okay, perfect. Okay, let's see. Place your heel heels and toes together with your arms down at your sides just like I am. Okay. When I tell you to. All right, you're going to pick either foot you wish. Okay, you're going to raise it 6 in above the ground with your toe pointed so it's parallel on the ground. Okay, you're going to look down at your foot with your hands down at your sides and count in the following manner. 1,00 1,002 1,003 until I tell you to stop. Understood? >> To six. >> Until I tell you to stop. >> Okay. >> All right. Give me one second here and begin. Just waiting for you to count >> as well. >> I'm sorry. >> Count out loud. >> Yes, like I gave you like I instructed. >> Sorry. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Go ahead. 1 100 1,00 2 100 3 100 4 100 5 100 6 100 700 8 100 >> Okay. >> Okay. When did you get cleared for that? I guess I didn't really get super cleared. >> The doctor never said, "Okay, you can start living your life now." >> Well, >> no, not really. >> And No, no, never talk to me again. >> Okay, gotcha. >> All right. But you're able to drive a vehicle clearly and all that. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. Based on the report of an intoxicated person made by the manager at the restaurant, her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises. Officer Wessonorf placed Crystal under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was handcuffed, Crystal was placed in the patrol car and transported the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. >> All right. So, essentially back to normal cuz you're able to function driving a vehicle and all that. >> You look normal. You're normal >> according to the medical. >> Okay, Crystal. At this time, you are being placed under arrest. >> All right. Just please back for me. >> Thank you. >> I saw your purses in there. Is there anything else you need out of your car? Is there your cell phone in there? Can I grab your truck for you? Okay. So, I'll grab your purse obviously and your phones and you're going to be checking your wallet or your >> Okay, I'll go check in there. >> Right. Right through here is probably your best bet. >> All right, we're going to go this way. >> You're okay. >> Is your kid in the car? >> Let's take a step down. >> Well, then I don't I don't think that's going to be a concern. >> Where is your Where's the child? >> Where your dad? pass. >> Anything on you that you need to know about? No drugs, no pass down. Obviously touch. All right, I'm going to use the back of my hand and obviously I have another officer here as well as a body cam. Okay. >> I hit light. >> I'm sorry. >> Not like a bad person. >> Nobody said you're a bad person. >> No one said you're a bad person. >> Hold that. >> See, I'll let you have uh phone calls when you get to the station.
