She was eventually identified as 23-year-old Ingred Mahia Barrera. >> Did you know who was out before or your registration in here too. >> Yeah. >> This is I think this is new. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. >> My own. >> What's that? >> Is um my club. >> As he was speaking with Ingred, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Ingred claimed that she was coming from Ferohone's nightclub in Planefield, NJ, and that she was headed home. She told him that she worked as the bartender, but denied consuming any alcohol. She would later admit to possibly consuming one beer several hours earlier. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Ingred was eventually asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. >> Oh, it's a nightclub. >> Mhm. >> Gotcha. Okay. You a bartender? >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. Take any You have any drinks while you were there at all? >> No. >> No. >> No. >> No shots? >> No. No tequilas. >> No. >> Nothing. >> No. >> All right. >> I'm working all day. >> Gotcha. What time did you get off? >> Off. >> Yeah. What time did you get off? >> What time did you get off work? >> One. >> You got off at 1:00? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Just hang out in the car. All right. Just don't get out of the car for me. All right. >> Okay. >> I'll be right back with you. Okay. >> She's a bartender. Works at a nightclub in playing field. Breaking it alcohol. At least at least what I smell. It smells like alcohol. I shouldn't say wreaking, but I can smell while she's sleeping. >> Um I don't know if she's drunk. Maybe she's just hanging out to a couple shots or something. All right. But uh maybe maybe I'll pull her out. Yeah. >> I will just make sure. >> All right. Madam, >> can you just do me a favor? Can you just step out of the car for me real quick? >> Yeah. >> Thank you. You can just come behind your car. Come back here. >> Right here. You can shut your door. Shut the door. Nobody hits the >> No. Shut shut the driver side door. >> Oh >> yeah. Shut it. >> Sorry. >> Shut shut the door. Yeah. I don't Just shut the door. >> Oh >> yeah, just shut it. Come this way. Let's go back here. So what's her you Okay. So this is uh this is Officer Mage, right? She's just um she's going to do a couple tests real quick. The reason I'm pulling you out, okay, is cuz I smell a little bit of some alcohol coming from you. All right. From your breath. Um, did you have anything to drink tonight? >> No. >> Just be honest with me if you did. >> Did you have anything to drink tonight? One drink, two drinks, one beer, maybe? >> Maybe one, but like uh five. >> One at like five. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What What was it? What did you drink? Was it a beer? Was it liquor? >> Beer. >> Beer. What kind of beer? It's like uh you know Victoria. >> Okay. Um just one. >> Just one. Yeah. >> No more. >> No. >> Okay. This is Officer M. She's going to do a test on you. A couple tests. Okay. Just to see if you've had any alcohol or anything. All right. >> Do you mind just standing in front of me and face me? Can you stand right here? >> You want to come over here? We'll go over here. You come over here with me. All right. Can you just stand facing me? >> All right. Do you um understand the English language? Okay. >> Okay. If there's something I say that you don't understand, let me know and I'll repeat it and if we have to get Google Translate, we can get Google Translate. Okay. Do you have any medical issues with your eyes? You wear contacts, glasses? Nope. And you have um no issues with your feet, body, anything that hurts tonight? Any injuries? Nope. Okay. All right. So, while I do this test, I'm going to ask you to stand with your hands by your side. Okay. Feet together. All right. And um what you're going to do is I'm going to have my finger in front of your eyes. Okay. You're going to follow my finger with your eyes and eyes only. You're not going to move your head. Do you understand? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Oh, finger eyes and eyes only. So, you're going to keep your head still looking at me, but your eyes are going to move back and forth. Okay. Do you understand? >> Do you want me to repeat it? >> Okay. So, what I'm going to do is my finger is going to be in front of you. Okay? I'm going to move it back and forth in front of you. And I want you to follow it with your eyes and your eyes only. I do not want you to move your head. Do you understand? Yes. You understand? I think so. Okay. All right. We'll try it again. Okay. All right. All right. Eyes and eyes only. Okay. Eyes and eyes only. Can you just move your eyes? So, we're going to start again. So, keep your head still. Okay? So, your head's going to face me the whole time. It's not going to move. And you're going to move your eyes to follow my finger. You're not going to move your um head at all. Do you understand? >> Okay. Eyes and eyes only. >> Eyes and eyes only. Okay. So, the next test what we're going to do, all right, you're going to keep your hands by your sides. Okay? And while we're standing here, you're going to take your right foot and you're going to put it in front of your left foot like this. And your right foot is going to touch the toe of your left shoe. Do you understand? >> All right. So, stand with your hands by your side like you were before. And you're going to take that right heel and have it touch the toe of your left foot. Can you do that for me? >> Like this. >> You're going to take your right foot. You're going to keep your left foot here. You're going to put your right foot right in front of your left foot like this. You can go ahead and do that now. You stay facing me. Okay? You're going to take your right foot. You're going to put right in front of your left foot with your heel touching. Okay? Now, you're going to stay like that while I explain the rest of the test. You understand? Okay? Oh, go back. You're going to do your right foot in front of your left. There you go. So, right heel is going to touch your left toe. And you're going to keep it like this while I explain. You're not going to move. Do you understand? Okay. That that was a yes. Okay. So, what you're going to do is you're going to stay like that. Okay. If you're getting unbalanced because I see you're swaying a little bit, just go ahead and it's okay to step to catch your balance, but then I want you to step back in line like this. Okay? Because I don't want you to fall cuz you're swaying. Okay? Um so, you're going to start like this, like we're starting here now with your left foot behind your uh right heel. And you're going to take nine heel to toe steps. Okay? I'm going to demonstrate for you, but I'm going to do three steps. You're going to do nine. Okay? So, what you're going to do is going to look like this. One, two, three. When you get to this point, you're going to keep your front foot on the ground, and you're going to take a series of small steps like this. Okay? Go ahead and stay in that starting position for me. Okay? You're going to take a series of small steps like this and put that foot right in front and go one, two, three. You're going to keep your hands by your side the entire time. All right? And you're going to do nine steps. So, I did three to show you, but you're going to do nine steps. When you're get going to get to the end, you're going to do those series of small steps to turn around and continue the nine steps back. Do you understand everything I explained? All right. When you're ready, you're more than welcome to begin. Okay. So, I did three. You're going to do nine steps. Okay. Does that make sense? Do you want me to explain it again? >> Okay. So, you're going to have that right heel touching that left foot just like you're doing right now. Okay. And you're going to do a series of nine steps. So, I'm going to do three. You do nine. So, one, two, three. When you get to this point, that front foot's going to stay like this. It's not going to move off the ground. And you're going to spin like this with that front foot planted. When you turn around, your other foot's going to go right in front of that planted foot. And you're going to go one, two, three with your nine heel to toe steps back. Okay? So, you're going to do nine. I did three. Do you understand that? Okay. When you're ready, if you could just line up your heel to toe for me because they're not exactly aligned. They're kind of next to each other. Go ahead. Heel to toe like this. Nice and straight. All right. When you're ready, you can start. >> Nine. >> Yes. You're going to do nine. You're going to keep your hands by your side. And you're going to do nine steps. Okay. So, we're going to, like I said before, we're going to put that right heel touching that left toe like this. Can you get in that starting position for me? You're going to take your right heel and have it touch your left toe. Okay. And then if you could just line them up nice and straight for me. There you go. And when you're ready, you can begin. And you're going to do nine steps. >> Yeah, I'm ready. >> Okay. So, you could begin. Can you count out loud, too? Can you count your steps out loud for me? >> Let's start over. Okay. I need you to count your steps. Remember when I did it, we did 1 2 3 and I verbally said the number of steps out loud. I need you to do the same thing. Does that make sense? So you're going to say, ready? I'm like this. You're one, cuz that's my first step. >> Two, that's my second step. And three, that's my third step. Okay? And you're gonna go to nine. And you're gonna say each step as you take it. Does that make sense? >> You're telling me a step? >> I'm not gonna tell you anything. Okay, you're going to do nine steps, make your turn, and do nine steps back. >> When you think you're done, you're going to stop, but I'm not going to tell you when to stop. Does that make sense? All right. So, let's get in that starting position one more time where we're going to take our right heel and have it touch our left toe and put our hands right by our side. Can you do that for me? Go ahead. You can do it. >> Yep. So, hands by your side and you're going to take your right heel and make it touch your left toe and stand in a straight line. >> Yep. So that's perfect. Are you getting a little wobbly again? Okay. All right. So when you're ready, you can start and take your nine steps. Oh, okay. So we're going to go back in that starting position. Okay. So we're going to take our right heel and have it touch our left toe. Can you do that again for me? Just like you see my feet. >> All right. So that's perfect. You're nice and lined up. When you're ready, you could start taking your uh steps. Okay. So I'm going to explain it again. So we're going to go ahead and get in that starting position. Okay. So, this is my I'm gonna do it next to you so you can see me a little bit better. Okay. So, I'm gonna go like this. All right. My right heel is touching my left toe. See how they're touching and they're nice and straight? I'm going to say you can begin. So, at that point, you're going to start taking your steps. Okay. We're not going to step back like this. We're just going to start the step uh the steps. So, one, two, three. Okay. Does that make sense? All right. All right. So, go ahead and put your hands by your side and we're going to take that right foot again and put it right in front of that left toe. You can go ahead and do that. Okay. Can you count out loud for me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Can you say your steps out loud? >> Okay. >> So, do you want to go back? >> You can continue the test. Oh, okay. And you're understanding what I'm saying, right? All right. Perfect. So, um, again, if you don't understand something I'm saying I'm saying, I want you to let me know that you don't understand, okay? Because I'm more than happy to repeat it to you. All right. So, we're going to do another test. All right. So, I'm going to give you a whole another set of instructions. So, what I want you to do now is keep your hands by your side. Okay? You're doing great. And you're going to when you're ready, I'm going to demonstrate first. Okay? You're going to pick one of your feet. You could choose which foot. Okay? You're going to take that foot and you're going to raise it approximately six inches off the ground, keeping your leg nice and straight like this. Do you understand so far? >> All right. When I tell you to begin, you're going to keep your hands by your side and you're going to count 1 1 2 100 3 100. You're going to say that out loud. Does that make sense? You understanding everything so far? >> So, you're going to keep counting until we tell you to stop. All right? So, you're going to keep going 1 100 1 2 1 100 3 100 and keep going until we tell you not to count anymore or put your foot down. Okay? If at any point during the test you lose your balance, it's okay to put your foot down, but once you're balanced again, I would like you to pick it up and just keep going with the test where you stopped. Does that make sense? Okay. Someone have a watch? Okay. >> All right. When we say go, you're going to start the test and you understand everything I explained, correct? Okay. >> All right. Ready? >> Yeah. >> Begin. Okay. So, we're done with that test. You can go back. Go ahead. Back. All right. And you understand what I'm explaining to you, right? All right. So, we're going to do the test now. We're going to forget walking in a line. We're going to do the one leg stand. Okay. So, this is where our feet are going to be together and our hands are going to be by our side. And we're gonna pick one of our feet, whichever one you're more comfortable with, and we're gonna raise it off the ground six inches like this. Can you see what I'm doing? All right. And then we're gonna count 1 1 2 100 3 100. And we're going to keep counting until we're told to stop. >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Okay. Are you ready to begin the test? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Officer Alyssa Mirin administered the field sobriety exercises and her inability to follow instructions, confirmed the officer's suspicion of impairment. Based on the odor of alcohol, her indicators of impairment, and her inability to satisfactorily complete the field sobriety exercises, Ingred was placed under arrest for DWI. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to J's law. She was then transported to the Raritton Burough Police Department for further processing. >> Ready, begin. Okay. So, at this point, can you just go ahead and stand by your car for me? >> Mhm. >> Turn around. Face your car. >> All right. Go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. Okay. Yeah. 450. >> All right. My partner here, she's just going to check to make sure you don't have anything in your pockets. All right. >> No. >> Is there anything in your pockets that's going to stab us or hurt us at all? >> Okay. Anything in the car that you need? Phone, wallet, keys? >> My phone. >> Okay. Do you need your wallet, too? Is your wallet in there? >> My phone. >> Okay. And you're still understanding everything we're saying, right? >> Okay. All right. I'm going to >> go back here. Okay.
