Around 5:39 p.m. on January 3rd, 2024, officers with the Way Police Department were notified by the neighboring Ringwood Police Department of an erratic driver traveling southbound on Ringwood Avenue. A witness had allegedly observed a blue 2012 Nissie on Ultima strike a guardrail and flee the scene. The witness followed the vehicle until the driver pulled over on Melrose Avenue in Wayne and walked into the house of smoke store on 544 Ringwood Avenue. Patrolman Donald Pascoriello arrived on scene and made contact with the witness who informed him that she was currently inside the smoke shop. in the uh up here in these apartments. The officers observed that the niece on Altima had sustained damages consistent with striking a guard rail. Patrolman Poscoreelloo spoke with the witness. Another officer made contact with the woman inside the smoke shop. The witness also had recorded videos of the woman driving erratically and swerving across the lanes. The driver of the niece on Altima was identified as 22-year-old Jillian Beagle. As the officers were speaking with Jillian, they detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She insisted that she was safe to drive and agreed to perform field sobriety exercises. Okay. People are calling. They're concerned about your driving behavior. Okay. Patrolman Pascorello placed Jillian under arrest for driving under the influence. The vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold. According to J's law, patrolman posell transported Jillian to the way police department for further processing. After she was seated, Jillian continued to be uncooperative with the officers. Jillian's alco test results in Ringwood indicated a back level of 0.13% which was over the legal limit of 0.08%. She was transported back to the way police department and made some concerning remarks. So, it was determined that she had to be taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
