You all right? >> Yeah, I'm fine. >> Okay. Where's the damage at? >> I thought I was guaranteed to have damage. I have none. The only like there's literally this. >> Okay, and so describe to me kind of what happened cuz I want to try to put it out for other like the other agencies are surrounding. >> see that stop sign? >> Okay. >> They blew it while I was coming down Milbrook. >> Okay, so every basically that Honda is they're coming straight through. They blew the stop sign. You're going You're going down You're going down Milbrook. >> Yep. >> And then you just hit the side of their door I guess like the side like where where would the vehicle Where would the damage on their vehicle be? >> here and they went like this into me. >> So it'd be like the driver's side. >> Driver's like >> Like this area right here? >> That's where it hit me. >> Driver >> Around 7:59 p.m. on November 5th, 2025, Patrolman Daniel DeVito with the Randolph Township Police Department arrived in the parking lot of 246 Milbrook Avenue and made contact with the driver of a Ford Transit work van. The driver, Christopher Hasner, told Patrolman DeVito that his company vehicle was struck in the front by another vehicle when the driver ran through the stop sign at the jug handle from Route 10 West onto Millbrook Avenue. After the collision, the driver attempted to flee the scene. However, he was able to photograph the license plate when she stopped at a red light. >> So, the headlight area? >> Yes. >> Okay. 932120, that other vehicle, the damage should be driver's side uh front bumper and headlight area. Should be fairly minor damage. And you're pretty sure about the plate? >> Oh, I got a picture of it. I made a U-turn, went behind them, grabbed it, and then came over here. >> Okay, so then he went Do you know if he went down >> I know he went that way on on to >> went west on 10. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um All right, you know what? Let me get all your information, grab some pictures, >> Yep. >> and I'm going to see if I can find that other vehicle. Do you have any like it it's the person who just not paying attention or >> They they went They backed up casually and went around me and just and just carried about their business like it never happened. >> People are unbelievable, aren't they? >> Yeah. So, my I spoke to, you know, my company and they're they're not looking to do anything besides file a report in case they try to do something silly with the hit-and-run thing. >> If if you don't want to If you don't want like cuz we've run into this where the companies don't want to report because it affects their it affects their insurance, right? But and so and so, you know, you're calling >> that if you want it. >> All right, so I'll just want to do real quick I think it's going to happen and then we can talk about how you feel about it and I'll get all your information. Basically, we're going to look for this vehicle. >> Yep. >> If I can make contact with the driver, figure out who it is, if we can find the vehicle, >> Mhm. >> we'll go from we'll we'll do a crash report. We'll go from there. Cuz they'll be at they'll be at fault or whatever, right? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> And that case. Otherwise, we're throwing a crash on your, you know, it's if you want to avoid >> I want to >> have to go that route. But then I can also I'm on for the next 3 days. So, if we don't figure this out in the next day or two, >> Yep. >> it's going to be, you know, it's going to be gone with the wind. And we have a record We have a Even if we don't decide if you If you elect that you don't want to push the report on, if we can't find the person, we have everything, you know, we have a call generated. We'll have all your information in the card. I can throw everything in there, but not necessarily create a a crash report. It doesn't make sense for the company, right? You guys shouldn't be >> penalized >> penalized for something you Yeah. Yeah. We've had that in the past where, you know, we do a report and then the person's upset later and then it's like, well, then that's a little too late once once you make a report, it is too late. Okay, do you want to just grab all your document and your information for me? >> I don't know if I mentioned to you, we have to just let you know we have body cameras. I know that's a silly thing to say these days, but we have to tell everybody. >> I appreciate you guys. >> We have wacky We got wacky policies. What's your first name, sir? >> Chris. >> Last? >> Hasner, H A S N E R. >> Phone number for you? Oh, and he ran off. I'm [laughter] I don't know Sorry, I don't know I >> [laughter] >> Uh >> That's the vehicle's and insurance and registration. New York. >> Yeah. >> Were you the one that came to my house about the dentist? >> No. No. Do you have your license on you, sir? >> Yeah. >> You're almost home, huh? >> [laughter] >> Which uh Is there two lanes still right there? It's like it's like it's like splitting right there. >> It's two lanes that merge into one. >> Yeah. I just put the crash report we have to do a diagram so okay it's the line is gone. All right. You know we do a crash report you know we we do a diagram and so everything's got to be crazy accurate. >> Yeah. >> Young driver? >> Uh no, it was a woman. >> Woman? >> That's all I could really get out of it. Glasses on. >> For a second I was like oh they must be pulling over and I was like wait no they're just leaving. So like they just backed up >> Just backed up enough to go around me. >> Just [laughter] kept on their day. >> Yeah dude I was like what? >> All right give me one second all right? >> Yeah yeah yeah. >> Kind of 32120 I confirmed the plate on that Subaru. Papa 84 Foxtrot Bravo Whiskey if you could put out a bolo. Should be a white female driver glasses. I think I'm going to also ask you if I could grab your bosses info just so I have a way to get in contact with him and you know if see what >> They want to do with it. >> Right in case >> Okay. Um well I'll give you the guy who handles the vehicles. So his name is Peter. I'll just let you >> [laughter] >> Velociatus. >> All right um I'm going to try to see if I can find the vehicle. I know what the other agencies are around us now. That's what we look out for. Uh Roxbury have not been given a heads-up, but I'm going to check in case they decide they're going to go down to the gas station and pull over or something like that. Um And then if we locate the driver, obviously they'll be issued a number of summonses. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And then um we'll document everything in a report. We'll get all the person's information. Um >> And you'll give us the heads-up with the >> give you a call. >> And >> Um let you know, you know, if we found anything. Probably not tonight. Um probably tomorrow. >> Yeah. You think there's any cuz like I'm >> Hold on. Just one Just one Just one second. Hold on. >> I'm watching heading in West bound. >> All right. Sorry. Go ahead. >> I got West bound out of the Long Island Parkway. >> I was going to ask if uh if this is going to be on my license. >> Well, if we only if only if we put it on a I'm going to put it on the crash report. >> Yeah. >> Um >> Okay. So, we'll So, we'll determine that >> Yeah. >> coming up. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, I guess at least at a minimum we'll try to get the information. Try to see if we can find the person. I mean if we find the person, we'll put it on a crash report, but even even in that case, it wouldn't be Now that we have like without without having the other driver, it just says this vehicle's involved in a crash, right? And you And one wouldn't be hurt. I wouldn't I wouldn't It wouldn't have I guess I I don't know how insurances work behind the scenes. I don't know. Right? But if we find the other person, then we can put that in a report. We could say who's responsible, and then it's not it's a not you're not at fault, you know? You have the right of way. We document who it is, and then it makes sense to put it in a report. >> I got you. >> It's And like if if you truly don't want to do anything about it, we can, you know, we could do that, but >> Yeah, the only thing I'm concerned with is the the company taking a hit with their with if they try something on their end, and I'm trying to take care of them. But also at the same time So, like I'll give you an example. I applied for a job, and they were going to hire me, but doing a background check, they saw an accident, and they said never mind cuz they want strict quality drivers who don't get in, You know what I mean? So like it I'm just saying it could affect me. >> Right, but in that case, you could say, "Okay, no problem. I'll go get the I'll get the police report." You know, I got the police report and you can have it. Here's a copy of the police report. Clearly shows not only this not only did this person that I had the right of way, but this person also left the scene. You know? But it if if you don't want to do anything about it, no, we could that's fine. We can we can do we can do nothing, too. >> So, I guess >> So, I guess what I'm my my course of action right now will be I'm going to try to locate the driver regardless, right? >> Um and then let's say I do, I'm going to get all the information, take pictures of the vehicle, get all the I can issue them tickets by mail, so it's not like I'm it's not like I'm on the hook and I can give you a call and say, "Hey, listen, we found the driver. What do you think you want to do?" >> Okay. >> Yeah, cuz cuz I I only want to um protect the company >> Right, right. >> my my driver's license. >> Right. Right, you don't want this person coming back later and saying, "Oh, this TJ McKinnon, here's a picture of the truck." >> Exactly. >> This person I this guy >> That's it. This >> he hit me and then he didn't he reported it. >> That's it. >> Yeah. >> That's it. >> So >> Okay. >> All right, as long as we're in touch and everything, you know, we can handle it step by step, so I don't >> Yeah, and if you have any questions on tonight, tomorrow night, and the following, so the so tonight and tomorrow night, um and then you feel free to give us a call I'm 7:00 to 7:00, 7:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m. >> Thank you. >> Take care, man. Sorry about this. People stink sometimes. Right, it wouldn't be a big deal if they just stopped, right? It's not a huge deal. Hello. >> Upon returning to headquarters, Patrolman DeVito queried the registration. The vehicle was determined to be a gray 2015 Subaru Outback, and the owner was identified as Susan. He also located a phone number for 27-year-old Amanda Direct, who matched the caller's description. He left voicemails for both phone numbers and requested callbacks. Her mother, Susan, contacted him shortly afterwards and confirmed that her daughter, Amanda, works in Randolph. >> Officer DeVitto. >> Hi, Amanda. >> Hi. Just so you know, we have body cameras, okay? Thank you. Do you want to show me I'm taking a look at your vehicle? >> I hit my brakes so hard. I didn't realize there was a collision. >> This was already there. >> This is pretty interesting. >> Okay. And you guys all came in the same vehicle? You guys came in >> No, no, we came in that car. >> Okay. Do you guys mind if I just speak to her privately? >> Sure. >> Okay. >> Oh, absolutely not. >> All right, so I need to have a talk to you about what your your account is of the events, okay? So, you got to describe me what happened and where exactly it happened. Um cuz your initial account doesn't really add up with what the other driver said. Um the damage suggests Well, well, why don't you give me your account of what happened? >> I was pulling out of Crabby's to make the left, and I didn't realize how fast he was coming, and I hit my brakes. And I didn't realize there was a collision. >> Okay, so the other driver is saying that it's not at the actual Crabby's exit. It's the the exit goes to the John Cannon, the John Cannon on on Milbrook Avenue. >> I was pulling out of the restaurant to turn left to go left at that intersection. >> Okay, so you made the so >> right out of the parking lot. >> I pulled it up the map. I found on Talking this is Mr. Crabby's right here, right? This is Route 10. You talking about Where are you talking about? >> I made the left. >> You talking about here? >> Yes. >> And why didn't you Why didn't you talk to the PD? Why don't you call the PD or stop? >> I didn't realize there was a collision. I hit my brakes cuz I saw him coming. >> And then what happened? >> And then I didn't realize there was a collision, so I kept going. I stopped quickly cuz I saw him coming down. And I was trying to make the left. >> Okay. >> I pulled out too far. >> Okay, so He's saying that So you're I'm just being transparent. >> no, I know. >> He's saying YOU PULLED OUT TO STOP TO STOP sign there. You went through the stop sign. He has the right of way. He's going straight. There was a collision. You backed up and then you drove around him. Then you proceeded north on Millbrook and you made the left from Millbrook onto Route 10. And he got behind you and took a picture of your license plate. I have a picture of your license plate. So that's why the story doesn't add up. That's why it's Things are kind of suspicious. I asked you before if you were drinking. >> Around 9:10 p.m. Patrolman Devito called Amanda and advised her of the hit-and-run crash investigation. Amanda confirmed that she was driving her mother's Subaru and told him that the crash occurred after she left Crabby's bar and that she was currently home with her boyfriend in Hopatcong. She denied consuming any alcohol at the bar, but she was advised to not drive if she had consumed any alcohol. >> Have you had anything to drink tonight? >> Not before I left, no. >> Not before you left what? >> Crabby's. >> Okay, and and so you've had something to drink since then? >> No. No. Not since I've come here. No. I pulled out of Crabby's uh to make the left out of the parking lot. >> Right. So, did you have anything to drink before you left Mr. Crabby's? >> No. >> All right. Stand tight for a second, okay? I want to put all this stuff in the Oh, I need to get >> I was making a left out of the parking lot to to turn Yeah. Left. And he was coming straight. I didn't realize how fast he was coming and I hit my brakes and I didn't realize he hit me. >> What's a good email address for you? And your phone number is the the number I called you before? Just the street address. >> S 079 46 >> All right. Just give me a second, okay? I'll talk to you again over here. Just talking to dispatch. Take a look at your eyes real quick. >> Yes. >> Okay. You haven't had anything to drink tonight at all? Okay. I don't think you're being completely honest. >> drinks, yeah, but not before I left. It was like an hour before. >> Okay. Um we have to do some field standard field sobriety tests, okay? Um, 32 120 and 32 cars, is there anybody available for uh to come back to HQ for some SFSTs? >> Yeah, 120 4 >> 120 4, how far out are you? All right, let's try to stand out of the way and wait wait for the officer to come cuz we're supposed to have two officers on scene for this. >> 120 4, are you showing clear from the 1050 on the highway 2101? Yep. >> Okay, they should be here pretty shortly. Uh I'm just going to move my car so that things are a little easier. I'm just trying to get you out of the wind if I could. I'm just going to walk over here and see if this is a little bit better. Do you have a jacket or anything? >> Yeah, I have a Yeah. >> All right, I want you to come on over here, ma'am. Can you stand over here? Okay. Um so, the first test we're going to do is called the HGN. Um it's basically an eye test. Is there anything uh wrong with your eyes? Do you wear contacts or glasses? >> Glasses, but just for distance. >> Okay, so you can see okay relatively close without them. Okay. Now, what you have to do is look at the tip of my finger, okay? Just keep your your like your feet together, arms down by your side, just kind of relax. And just follow my finger, okay? Do you see my finger? >> Yes. >> All right. Just keep staring at your finger at my finger. Eyes Your eyes only. Don't move your head at all, okay? All right. Keep your head still, watch my finger. >> I'm going to go up and down. Just go ahead and keep walking. All right. The next test we're going to do is called the walk and turn. >> Just use that line right there. >> Yeah. Okay, so we're going to go We're going to go this way, okay? But you can kind of fit Turn to face me. Imagine this is This is going to be your your line. You're going to imagine a line. Um I'm going to put you in what's called the starting position, okay? You have anything wrong with your legs, any injuries, anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. So, you're going to put your left foot on the line. You can put your right foot directly ahead of that on the line. Put your hands down by your sides, keeping your toes touching heel-to-toe. And just hold that position. It's called the starting position. I'll explain the test, demonstrate the test. Just hold that position best you can. I'm going to demonstrate, explain it, make sure you understand, and then you can do the test, okay? So, just stay like that until I ex- I finish. All right, so you're going to take nine steps. I'm going to do three to demonstrate. So, you put left on line. And you're going to take each step touching touching heel to toe with each step, counting out loud, keeping your hands on by your side. So, it's going to look like this. I'm going to do three, you're going to do nine. 1 2 3 You're going to keep your lead foot on the line. Take a small series of steps. Turn around the opposite direction and then you're going to do nine down the other way. So, you're going to do it again. 1 2 3 I demonstrated three, you're going to do nine. Do you understand the test? >> Yes. >> Okay, you may begin. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 >> Okay, last test is called the one leg stand, okay? So, you're going to pick whichever leg that you choose. Um you're going to put your put your feet together, hands up by your side. I'm going to explain the test. Touch your touch your feet together, okay? You're just going to whichever leg you choose, you're going to raise that leg approximately 6 in off the Look down the leg, point the toe, and count out loud in this fashion. 1,001, 1,002, 1,003 so on and so forth until I tell you to stop. If you do place your leg down, pick it back up and continue counting, okay? >> Yes. >> Do you understand the test? >> Yes. >> Okay, you may begin. >> 1,001 1,002 1,003 1,004 1,005 1,006 1,007 13 14 15,000 16,000 17,000 18,000 19,000 20,000 21,000 22,000 23,000 >> Okay, you may step out, okay? This time I have to place under arrest for driving while intoxicated, okay? Turn around, place your hands behind your back. 2120 has one female 10-11, 450. Whose car is this? >> Female 10-11, 450. >> You came in two separate cars? Okay. Okay. You just Huh? >> Somebody drove. >> What do you mean? >> The white car is my car. He He drove here. He didn't She didn't drive here. >> No. >> Okay. >> Around 10:30 40 p.m., Patrolman Devido was advised by dispatch that Amanda was in the parking lot of the station at 502 Millbrook Avenue. She was with her parents and her boyfriend. It was determined that her boyfriend Thomas Lamoda had driven her there in the Subaru, while her parents had arrived in a separate vehicle. As he was speaking with Amanda, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Amanda denied consuming any alcohol at the bar, but she was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Following the field sobriety exercises, Patrolman Devido determined that Amanda was impaired and placed her under arrest for DWI. >> Time to key on the deal. Just hold on 1 second. Just hold on 1 second. Okay. Just stand right here. Right, but she's she's admitting that she had some drinks at the bar. >> And then drove? >> Then drove. >> And then got into a crash? >> She's not admitting that she She's not admitting that she got into a crash. She's saying that she didn't think there was any contact. >> Yeah, but if she didn't drive here >> But she drove at the bar. >> She didn't drive here. >> She's saying that she didn't have any drinks after she left the bar. >> No, she said she didn't. I mean, that's fine. Just make sure you note that. >> Um I think it's easier if we're just going to walk around the back, okay? Um let's do an alcohol test. It's basically going to be a uh two Um Yeah? Okay. All right. Um if you guys want to stay, you can. You know, it's a it's a it's motor vehicle only. It's not uh there's no criminal offenses, so you can hang around and then uh >> Can I take control of your car? >> Yes. Okay. Why don't you come back to my car with me? Um do you have anything on you that's that's I need to know about? Anything in your pockets? Okay. Do you have you have nothing in your pockets? Okay. Okay. I'm going to come back to this car over here, okay? I saw her walk through here. One second. Just literally right around the back of the building. >> I want to see her come back. >> You can come with us and sit in the lobby if you'd like. Just be careful, watch your head, okay? Just give me 1 second, okay? Let me just get her buckled in. Well, we're literally the rear of the building is the police department. I'm Okay? You could, yes. I know this feels crazy, but I guess we're going to pull you into this side port. That's what the sergeant wants us to do, all right? >> Okay. >> John 32120. >> Good. >> Give me a starting and ending mileage. We're just driving around the back of the building here. 36935 .0 Car 7. >> Yeah. >> Do you have the keys on you? >> Uh my boyfriend >> Okay. He said he's asked cuz I asked if he's asking your dad for the keys. >> 32134 >> Yeah, now he has them. >> Okay. >> Roger. We have Sheriff close to the right two patrol units as well as two auxiliary units. Yeah, you can claim all of them. I'll give you a county. It was a neighbor who went to the wrong house. Neighbor went to the wrong house for you. >> 2242 in K. It's not clear. >> 2247 >> We got your 10-30 on the red suburban. >> Yep. >> Just give me 1 second. I'll be right with you, okay? Just uh close the door and put some stuff down. >> Just going to walk into the station for you, okay? When you get in, you're just going to turn to your right, and there's a bench over here. We're going to stand in front of the bench. Are you right-handed or left-handed? I'm just going to take the right hand out, okay? And you take a seat. Unfortunately, I had to I had to I had to have to come to the bench because it's our policy, okay? >> She was handcuffed, placed in the patrol car, and driven into the station through the sally port nearby. At the station, the standard statement for motor vehicle operators was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.081%, which was still above the legal limit of 0.08%. She then waived her Miranda rights and admitted to consuming three of Martinis at Crabby's. She denied consuming any additional alcohol after leaving Crabby's. Once the officers finished processing her at the station, Amanda was released to Thomas Lamata after he signed the potential liability warning form on her behalf. >> We just have to wait for the other officer cuz he has to operate the Alcotest box, okay? I think he's probably just talking to your parents, but okay. So, this will take approximately So, how it works is there's like a we call an observation period, which is like 20 minutes. Um basically, you can't touch your mouth, put anything in your mouth. Once that period's over, um we'll use the the Alcotest, which is you blow into the tube. >> Amanda was issued the following citations: operating under the influence 39:94:5E, the 39:94:96, the careless driving 39:94:97, disregarding a stop sign 394-144 leaving the scene of an accident 394-129 failure to report an accident 394-30. As of March 23rd, 2026, Amanda's case is still pending before the Randolph Township Municipal Court. >> I'll give you all instructions when you do that. After that, you know, you'll be That's basically the the extent of processing. It's relatively quick. And then we'll bring you back up, okay? I'll be in contact with you off court date. All right? >> Turn the video on over there? >> Yeah, I'm going to turn my body cam off now. >> You started arrest packet? >> Not yet.
