on September 6 2023 officers from the St Petersburg Police Department responded to a call about a vehicle parked at a local Walmart in St Petersburg Florida with the windows rolled up the engine off and children inside officers quickly located the owner of the vehicle but she refused to cooperate okay okay get your license on you and it's not this is not a matter of you're not going to give it to me it's either you're going to give it to me or I'm going to put you in hand CU and right now I have enough to arresting for child abuse okay let's not get there okay you're going to add another charge if you don't give me your license okay because you're going to OB trct my investigation so I need your license for my investigation into this child abuse you cannot leave children I'm standing here right now we're standing here talking and it's hot they're in a car two children One strapped in a restraint seat it does not matter it does not matter that's we're past that all I'm saying is here here here the are you going to give me your license just I need are you going to give me your license yes or no okay I'm just asking what is I no I already told you are you going to give me your child abuse and one count of obstructing or resisting an officer without violence she was transported to the pellis county jail with her bond set at $20,500 why is it two times once for each child and right now the children are going up to the hospital and then from there they're going into custody of the state until until you get released and they'll they'll talk to you and uh they'll make arrangements at that point once you're due to be released they'll be making arrangements for either returning the custody to you or they will uh continue custody with them that'll be between you and DCF okay so they're going into the custody of this state temporarily until a judge can make further Final determinations on whether or not you should uh continue uh being in charge of them right so what's going to happen to me now you're going to go to the jail how long uh that I don't know it's your your first appear appearance before the judge will be tomorrow morning tomorrow morning yeah how about my car well we're going to uh go and talk to Walmart and see if it can stay here if it can't then we'll uh have our uh towing company come and get it and uh put it into their holding lot and will have to to get it out follow I believe but I don't know I've never had to uh I've actually everybody usually works with us and I've never actually had to have them tow a vehicle for this type of thing so they've always worked with us and the vehicle's always managed because it's legally parked and it's out of the way okay so they may just allow it to stay there it's up to Walmart on this all right so were any of the charges felonies yeah which on the uh the two aggravated child abuse case ones yes that's a yeah bought it um already like I told you this year in the State of Florida we already had seven children die from this exact thing being locked in a car that's not air conditioned okay security footage revealed that she arrived at Walmart at 20:2 p.m. and did not return to the vehicle until 226 p.m. shortly after St Petersburg fire rescue had arrived your children could have died you misrepresenting what time you um you're misrepresenting what time you got here okay and it's and you got here a lot sooner than what you were saying you got here at right after 2:00 like 20:2 according to the security video okay that's what I I thought it was 220 huh I thought it was 220 okay
