#CrimeCamNow On September 6, 2023, officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a call about a vehicle parked at a local Walmart in St. Petersburg, Florida, with the windows rolled up, the engine off, and children inside. Officers quickly located the owner of the vehicle, but she refused to cooperate or provide her driver's license. After some insistence, the woman turned on the car and air conditioning but still refused to identify herself. When officers attempted to place her in handcuffs, she resisted, leading to a brief struggle before being restrained. During the encounter, she pleaded with officers not to take her children. Security footage revealed that she arrived at Walmart at 2:02 p.m. and did not return to the vehicle until 2:26 p.m., shortly after St. Petersburg Fire Rescue had arrived. The children were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The woman was charged with two counts of child abuse and one count of obstructing or resisting an officer without violence. She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail, with her bond set at $20,500.
