on March 22nd 2021 retired police dog doy passed away in the arms of his loyal Handler officer Kenneth Gardner I've been in the unit since 2008 and that's when I first met K9 DOI when we started training they have all the new dogs and we individually get to meet these dogs and I remember the first time I saw DOI uh him being along here he had such a unique look that he reminded me of of a wolf or a lion and I thought to myself if I do get to pick a dog I'm definitely going to try and put DOI as my number one DOI served with the Chicago Police Department from 2008 to 2017 as a patrol and narcotic detection dog he was the last surviving member of the Department's 2008 K9 class our thoughts are with officer Gardner his family and the entire canine unit rest in peace DOI thank you for your years of dedicated service
