On January 15th, 2023, at approximately 12:55 a.m. in Bentonville, Arkansas, officers with the Bentonville Police Department observed a black SUV driving erratically, swerving between lanes. Believing the driver might be impaired, police initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Brooke Teague, who appeared to show multiple signs of intoxication. She voluntarily agreed to a field sobriety test, but what followed was anything but a typical DUI stop. Instead of confrontation, the officer was met with politeness, laughter, and an unexpected connection. The two exchanged respectful banter and shared several light-hearted moments, making it one of the most unexpectedly wholesome traffic stops caught on camera. With so much chemistry between them, you can't help but wonder, did they ever cross paths again after that night? Hello. Hello. Hey, I'm Officer Smith. Go play. Nice to meet you, Mr. Smith. Um, I've never heard that before. I'm trying to stop. I appreciate that. Um, hey. So, I'm just stopping you for improper lane use. Sorry, I was on the phone. You're on the phone? I'll be honest. You can ask Zachary. I don't really want to talk about that. I know you don't, but I'm just saying. Okay. Hey, uh, do you have your driver's license? Yes, sir. Um, here's these two. My insurance and registration. Give me a second cuz I do throw my driver license in here. I will be honest with you. It's going to take me a minute. I always throw it in here. All right. Why don't you keep on looking for that? I'll be right back. Okay. Okay. Yes, sir. The old jacket on. Yeah. Should have worn my sweater tonight. You should have. Step right in this circle that I just made. Okay. And face this way. Okay. All right. Can you imagine a straight line coming out of your left foot? You can. Okay. Put your right foot in front of your left foot on that imaginary line. Keep your arms at your side and just relax. Okay? Don't move until I tell you to do so. Do you understand that? Yes, sir. All right. For this test, I'm going to take nine heel to toe steps down the imaginary line. Make a small turn and then take nine more heel to toe steps back down that imaginary line with your arms at your side, looking down at your feet, and counting out loud. It's going to look sound like this. One, two, three, so on and so forth until you get to nine. Assuming this is your lead foot, take a series of small steps exactly like so to turn around. And then take nine more heel to toe steps back down the imaginary line. One, two, three. So on and so forth until you get to nine. For demonstration purposes, I'm doing three. Remember, you're doing nine. Okay. During this test, remember, keep your arms at your side, look down at your feet, count out loud, and do not stop the test until you've completed the test. Okay. Okay. Do you have any questions? Yes, sir. Do you understand the test? Yes, sir. All right. Remember, keep your arms at your side. Okay. You can begin whenever you're ready. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. One, two, three, four, five, 6 7 8 9 10. Go ahead and put your feet back together again. Heel to heel, toe to toe. Put your arms down at your side and just relax. Do not move until I tell you to do so. Okay, for this test, I'm maybe I'm going to have you raise one foot above the ground approximately 6 in. Okay, I don't care which foot you use, your right or your left. For demonstration purposes, I'm using my right foot. So, raising your foot above the ground approximately 6 in with your toe pointing forward, your knees straight, your arms at your side, looking down at your elevated toe, you're going to count out loud 1,00 1,002 1,003, so on and so forth until I tell you to stop. Okay, remember, look down at your foot. Keep your arms at your side. Keep that knee straight, toe pointing forward, and your foot above the ground approximately 6 in. Okay. Do you understand the test? To nine. Sorry. To nine. To nine. To how many seconds? Until I tell you to stop. Okay. Okay. Do you have any questions? No, sir. You understand? Yes, sir. You have time? Yep. All right. Whenever you're ready, keep arms at your side. Okay. Out of your pockets. 1 second. 2 second. 3 second. 4 second. 5 second. 6 second. 7 second. 8 second. 9 second. 10 second. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18 20 21 22 23 24 25 26. Okay. Trying to pay attention to it. Of course. Um so this paper you have, I have the same exact paper up here. I'm going to start right here. Give me this real quick. We are not going to read this one cuz you are not under 21. Um or that one. Don't worry, it won't be a big issue. Oh, you're fine. So, I'm going to start right here. I'm going to skip anything with an X on it. Okay. Okay. So, you are advised that any person who operates or is an actual physical control of a motorboat or motor vehicle in this state is deemed to have given consent to one or more chemical test of his or her breath, saliva, or urine for the purpose of determining the alcohol or controlled substance content of his or her breath or blood. The law enforcement officer has reasonable cause to believe that the person while operating or actual physical control of a motorboat on the waters of this state or motor vehicle is intoxicated or has an alcohol concentration of 08 or more in the person's breath or blood. Do you understand all that? Yes, sir. All right, we're going to skip these two right here. We'll get to Oh. This is for them that just left. Yes, sir. Hey, uh, your paperwork's in here if you want to fill out the, uh, book. Yeah, I'll be a second. Yep. I appreciate it. Yep. Bye. Byebye. Anyway, right. If you refuse to take a chemical test, none will be given, but you will subject yourself to the penalties provided by law, which includes, but is not limited to, the suspension or revocation of your driving privileges. And if you are a commercial driver's license holder, the disqualification of your commercial driving privileges. Do you understand that? Okay. Initial on that one. If you understand it, you're not agreeing to doing anything. You're just saying you understand what that means. You can hang on to my pen for now. Um, the next one. If you choose to take a chemical test and the results reflect an alcohol concentration of 08 or more or the presence of a controlled substance or any other intoxicant your sorry I lost my place your driving privileges would be suspended or vote and if you are the holder of a commercial driver's license your commercial driving privileges will be disqualified you understand that okay initial on that one if you understand it all right skipping these two be on this one if you take the chemical test requested by law enforcement you may also at your own expense. Have a physician, registered nurse, lab technician, or other qualified person of your choice administer an additional chemical test. The arresting law enforcement agency will assist you in obtaining such such a test. If you choose to have an additional test and later found not guilty of a violation of the Obnibus DWI or BWI act for this arrest, the arresting law enforcement agency will reimburse you for the cost of the additional test. Do you understand that? Okay. Initial on that one if you understand it. Do you understand all parts of these riots? Yes or no? Circle breath for me. Will you take the test? Yes or no? That's up to you. Okay. Perfect. Thank you. My pen back. Thanks. Hey, Bill. I guess I just look right here. Pow. You got to Yeah. Oh, Cody. So like 11 minutes until it's ready. So yeah, until after that. Uh it's uh Is she around? Who? The girls. I can go be right there. The what? The girl. What about going to go be? Oh, no. So, yeah, we I can't let you until we get this going. Um, but it shouldn't take too long. You about 5'4, Brook? Are you 5'4? 5'5. probably five. Hey, you okay? Breathe cuz I can't give you your inhaler until later. So, just relax. You're going to be fine. We've got about six minutes or so until it's ready for you. Have you ever used one of these before? Have you ever used one of these before? Or like a PBT or anything? All right. Hey, we need to slow it down. Okay. Just relax. Don't put yourself into some kind of episode. Okay. Just relax. All right. Hey, Brooke. In 3 minutes and 30 seconds, I'm going to have you stand up. I'm going to hand you this tube. All right. And you're going to hold it. Okay. And you're going to You ready? All right. So, not yet, but I just have it focus. So, um I'm going to have you wrap your lips around this tube. is going to be attached to that black tube. Okay. And you're going to blow really really hard. Like you're trying to like you're what? Humming. Like you're humming. Yeah. Like breath visors. No. What do you mean? H like the breath visors in the vehicle. Hum. I don't know what you mean by humming. Maybe I'm dumb. Oh, no. No, no, no. You don't do you don't make any noises. You don't suck. You don't do anything other than just blow really really hard into the tube. So, basically, you're going to hold this tube right here, out here, and you're going to take a big deep breath in. Mom, I can't breathe. I know. You're fine. So, take my inhaler beforehand. No, I can't let you put anything in your mouth or inhale anything else other than air. Okay. So, you're going to hold it. You're going to take a big deep breath in. Then, you're going to wrap your lips around it. Seal your lips around this tube right here. And you're going to blow really, really hard until I tell you to stop. Okay? It's a long breath. Okay? Well, if if you can't, it's going to it's going to know you're not blowing right or it's going to time out and it'll give me an insufficient sample, right? So, after so many insufficient samples, it's just going to be a refusal to submit to the chemical test. Does that make sense? That's just an additional charge. Um, even though I know you can't control that. So, I'm ready when you are. But it's like a long I know. I'm ready when the machine is, I guess. But, but the harder the harder you blow initially. Yeah. It's got a meter on it. Okay. It's going to ask for two samples, though. Okay. So, after the first one, it takes another like minute and 30 seconds to redo its thing. So, I'm going to have you sit down again and then I'll let you know when it's ready for you the next time. Okay. Does it make sense? But it is like a long I know it is deal. Um but I don't have the capacity for it. Well, the harder you load initially is usually um better or the worst cuz I tried to cuz you can fill up bars and when it goes beep then that's good. But if it goes that's bad. Oh wait, no. Maybe it's the other way around. We'll find out. I can't breathe. You're right. I'll uh I'll tell you. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going and then I'll tell you to stop. Okay? Then when I say stop, obviously you can, but like don't stop halfway to like breathe in and get more air in there. Just empty the lungs. Empty the lungs. If I pop out, you'll catch me. Yeah. Empty the lungs. Almost. Okay. And you'll protect me, right? You what? You'll protect me, right? Oh, yeah. He's not. Okay. Almost. Hey, light fix you out a little bit. Quit teasing my oxygen. So, what's coach doing? Hopefully, he's sleeping. I hope so, too. Right. He had a what is he? He's five. December 15th, turned five. That's awesome. Um he had a little paw allergy and he was like chewing on his paws really bad to where like the fur was coming off. So he's on a bunch of um like steroids and stuff. Yeah. So he's like drinking water nonstop and then peeing nonstop. Ridiculous. put my either down but it's okay to explain questions. He's taking an eon. I got to go pee. Oh, I'm working on it. I know you are. You know, you can't do anything, but Yeah. just to make you kind of help you kind of understand that more is so obviously legal limit is point away. So if you blew under it I have suspicion right that maybe we're smoking some weed too. Okay. I know you got a weed card. Okay. By the way it's by the way it's not bad. I know it's not but I haven't smoked cuz I haven't been at work. I've been at work. It's just 10 a.m. I got you. But u so I would request urine. Well I would fail. I'm not trying to be mean to you. It's less than 10 days. Yeah. No, I get it. Uh, this is my job and I appreciate you being nice to me and not being, you know, difficult. No, I get it completely. I'm glad we didn't go to high school together cuz this would be more awkward. Well, you looked familiar, so I was like, "Oh [ __ ] this is awkward. As long as you didn't go with my ex, I don't care." All right, stand up for me. You're going to tell me how to breathe. Yep. Okay. Okay. Hold it. Take a big deep breath in and then wrap your lips around it and blow really, really hard. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Perfect. Perfect. That was awesome. Um, just have a seat for now. Huh? Refusal. Yeah. waiting. Sorry. All right. So, there will be one more. What are you talking about your lung capacity? That was actually very easy compared what I'm used to. What do you mean? You've done this before? No, I've never never done this before. Oh, I'm sorry. Thank you. Abot, where's he going? That was a deputy. He didn't work here. I just need to go pee. That's all I care about. I know. Here in like a minute and it's okay. I really understand. I just need to go pee madly. You know what's funny is I don't ever drink. No. No, my my stepdad's an alcoholic, so I don't ever drink. So, it's kind of funny. Not really, but really. Better than keeping you on the streets, right? You what? Better than keeping you on the streets. That's right. That's right. It's cold outside a little bit. Hope my dogs are sleeping on the couch. Yep. Did she leave? Officer Pal. I don't know. Yeah. Did she do leave? She's somewhere. I don't know. Who's going to help me? What do you mean? I'll just I'll You can go in there and I'll close the door. And Oh, I can go in there. Not right now, but [Music] yeah, there's a toilet in there. Okay, cool. I don't care at this point. All right, stand up. Last one. Other one. Yep. All right, big deep breath in. Blow really hard till I tell you to stop. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Perfect. All right. You can go. The city's making it worse. No, I said you could you can go. I can stand. No, you can go in there. I can go in there. Let me uh Okay. Let me clear this thing out and then I'll You're good. I'll wait till you tell me. All right. And just come back out here. Yeah. I'm just going to put this on here. here and bang on the door whenever you're done. Thank you so much. [Music] Yep. Uhoh. I have the wrong key. Thank you. Yep. You have seat. Oh. Thank you so much. Come on. Um, all right. So, your final result again is 08. You blew a.14. All right. We're going to take a field trip. Um, you handle that. You have to handcuff me. Not yet. Um, we're going to go in this room over here, though. That's our field trip. I promise I'll be here. Um, on the other side of that island is a bench. Same as the other one. Have a seat on that. We just got some extra things to go over. This is going to get me in a lot of trouble with the divorce of my baby daddy. It is. Is it? I don't know anything about that. Um, I'm not quite sure. I can tell you that this doesn't make you a bad person. Right. Well, I dated someone with six D eyes. You what? I dated with someone with six D eyes. Six? Yeah, he's in prison. Don't worry. He's wrong. Was that the guy you mentioned earlier? Yeah. That is wild. Um hopefully this is like this never happens again. Um me too because I hope he doesn't take it to court and next week against my son. Well, how not too. That's uh that'd be kind of a not a cool thing to do. Yeah. Um, so this is the official notice that the suspension, revocation, or disqualification of your driving privilege will begin at midnight of the 30th day from the date of arrest. You have the right to an administrative hearing to contest the revocation, suspension, or disqualification of your driving privilege within 20 days from your request for hearing. You must request a hearing within seven calendar days of this notice being given or your request for an administrative hearing to contest the no hearing to contest will be denied. But on the back of your temporary license is a whole list of instructions that you will use to fill this piece of paper out. Okay? Look to send to this address. This is how you can test the suspension of your license. Okay? But this for 30 days is your license. So you can still drive and that gives you 30 days to figure out what you're going to do. Okay. Brooke did not satisfactory complete the field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. During the inventory search of her vehicle, officers discovered vomit inside the cup holders of the center console, a clear sign she should not have been behind the wheel. Brooke agreed to provide a breath sample. And after the required 20inut observation period, her test result came back at 0.14%. nearly twice the legal limit in Bentonville, Arkansas, where a BAC of 0.08% or higher is considered over the limit for drivers aged 21 and older. Despite the serious nature of the stop, the interaction between Brooke and the officer was unexpectedly light-hearted and respectful. The two shared laughs throughout the encounter, creating one of the more unusually friendly DUI arrest we've seen. Do you think they stayed in touch after this? It almost felt like fate brought them together on that night. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. And if you enjoy our videos and real crime content, be sure to subscribe to the channel.
