This incident takes us to Lake Park, Florida. At around 5:48 p.m. on March 2nd, deputies responded to a retail theft in progress. Store security had just watched a woman push a laundry basket full of merchandise, nearly $900 worth, including a camping tent, a duffel bag, and several containers of baby formula, straight out the emergency exit. As one deputy arrived to speak with loss prevention, he was informed that after the initial 911 call, the staff had to contact dispatch again, reporting that the suspect had already fled the property on foot, dragging the basket eastbound towards Silver Beach Road. Another deputy, already on patrol nearby, was flagged down by a witness who pointed in the suspect's direction. He spotted her in a grassy area just off Silver Beach Road, still dragging the basket. She came out, had all the stuff. I guess she dropped that trash can and then Walmart employees are following her and they could go so far walking. So, I was just following her in my truck telling her, "I saw it. You need to stop." I would just wait for policeman to come by and kind of weigh you down. That's what I did. All right, perfect. Um, did you see any of the her being taken down or taking custody part? I saw him just get her down on the ground. She was obviously Well, as soon as he I jumped out and waved him down, she dropped herself and took off running. And that's when he got to there, got out of his car, just took her down normal, just like you can see any cops. Yeah. Got it. All right. Any other conversation that or anything that that happened prior to this or just kind of far enough away that you just saw what happened? I was going into Walmart when she came out. She came out of emergency. The alarm went off. Okay. And then the Walmart guys, the lady and guys, they followed her. They didn't interact with her. The woman was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the county jail. She was charged with grand theft resisting arrest and possession.
