On March 2, 2025, deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to a retail theft at a Walmart in Lake Park, Florida. Store security reported that a female suspect had pushed a laundry basket containing approximately $885 worth of merchandise—including a tent, a duffel bag, and baby formula—through an emergency exit without making any attempt to pay. As deputies arrived to gather information, loss prevention staff notified dispatch that the suspect had already fled the property on foot, dragging the basket eastbound along Silver Beach Road. A second deputy in the area was flagged down by a witness and located the suspect in a nearby field. The woman ignored verbal commands and attempted to flee before being detained. A search of her personal belongings resulted in the recovery of multiple items commonly associated with illegal substance use. The suspect was arrested and charged with grand theft, resisting arrest, and possession.
