on Wednesday December 16th 2020 at approximately 9:09 a.m. New Mexico State Police dispatch received a 911 call from a female driver who stated a man in a gray Nissan Rogue SUV had cut her off before brandishing a black handgun and speeding off at over a 100 mph state police officer Darien Jarrett who was on routine Patrol began sech searching for the vehicle and located it near mile marker 90 on Interstate 10 just outside of Deming New Mexico officer Jared conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 88 after verifying the license plate and vehicle description matched the one given by the caller [Music] morning my name is Daren Jared I'm with New Mexico State Police the reason for the Stop is we got a call about a road Ren in involving this vehicle a little while ago okay so here this um I'm in a rental car I was driving and there was a blue Jeep Gladiator okay that border patrol where we have to stop and say that we're US citizen right um there was the blue carard was I think he tried to do a breake check on me so the Cones were U merging the lane so I tried to get around him because I wasn't sure what he was doing so he might have felt like I you know cut him off but we both stopped at the border patrol and we went on and he gets in front of me and he comes in front of me me and stops and he does another brake check so I try to get around him to try to get fast and I'm like you know a little over speed limit just trying to get away from I'm not sure where and I'm an army veteran so excuse me I'm an army veteran so I have to you know and I'm Canal weapons right are there weapons in the vehicle uh just yeah yeah where is it at uh I have one in the glove box and I have a weapon secured in the gun okay do you mind if I you guys step out of the vehicle so I can take a look at these weapons all right do me a favor step out of the vehicle slowly you too ma'am thank you man' just come on back over here do me yeah I know it's a little do me a favor go over there by my Texas dispatch advised officer Jared that the driver who was identified as CJ Bush Simpson had an active non-extraditable warrant out of Texas for driving while intoxicated 121 are you clear to copy 104 ma'am go ahead 104 your subject DJ Bush Simpson dat birth 1079 out of Texas Texas ex only for driving while intoxicated 104 should also have an in loock and does have a Texas concealed handgun otherwise he is -29 ineligible on the deal 104 ma'am I also have a serial number for a tourist handgun when you're ready 10 forer go ahead with that 104 it's going to be 104 that's coming back 29 no if they're going to they're she's getting the 20 okay that way we can find out where exactly happened cuz there is a there is a pistol there's other weapons but they were in a case in the back there's no way they had enough time to get it and there was a tiny little pistol it wasn't black the one that they're describing I have in my vehicle it was in the glove box so I need to see if the RP is going to be willing to it yeah after that we'll see what happens cuz this dude has a DWI out of Texas he's supposed to have a lock I didn't see an a lock have anlock I don't think we can do anything what was that for DUI oh was for du hey Mr Simpson are you out on condition for release in the jail and release you did you see a judge more the Discretions that the judge release you on could you leave the state could you have Farms are you supposed to be driving what were the conditions yes my conditions were with my PR Bond officer out of El Paso Texas was supposed to email him every week make sure I let him know if my place of residence or my email or my phone number is changed and I'm supposed to blow on my home device uh at certain periods of time okay those are my only stipulations as long as I meet those stipulations then I uh my PR B will be fine otherwise I would be sent to oh you know I would have to answer for that so you you don't have any restrictions on travel they have they didn't restrict you on being able to operate a motor vehicle no okay because I actually when it started I moved from mempis Tennessee to Las CR and that's why they had to give me a mobile device instead of a car device cuz I don't even Happ so what I was asking the other officer is I don't know who your attorney is or what he's supposed to be doing but as of right now you have an active warrant tell you to comply one I'm warn is limited to Texas only now we're going to check on a few things with that being said since the warrant's active and it is for the DUI charge if cours tell us otherwise that you have limitations on travel or carrying firearms or anything else we are going to have to address that matter okay so I just want to bring you up to par on that all right so we're going to contact Texas I couldn't what's that that whatever would mean know how to turn around go home well depending on what the courts tell us that May mean you just go home that may mean you go with us it can mean a variety of things before we do any of that we're going to get clarification from them okay so just want to let you know what's going on all right you said that DUI happened last August and they're they're working on dismissing it yeah um don't call me I don't remember the approximate date police or somebody else that might have strips Avil August in 2019 because it was right before I was getting discharged from the Army and I was just getting a little carried away partying friends and stuff West is any limitations as far as out they can't confirm anything and as far as the warrant like I said they doesn't have any information so he was advised he needs to follow up with the court on uh traveling out of state okay as far as the I'm waiting on finding out what motor 16 says so okay um then after that it's brand Okay Okay cool so just [Music] wait yeah once the other officer met with the caller he took her statement as to what happened along with the description of the firearm that was brandished he then notified officer Jared of her description in which officer Jared determined it match the handgun that was located in the glove box all right brother thanks uh can stand by real quick all right cool thanks brother cor right my all right so do me a favor come down the front of my vehicle quick I need to put your hands behind your back back you have anything on you that can hurt me my keys are in my pocket your keys are in your left pocket I'll get those out right now yeah phone huh can she get you your phone yeah here in a second okay right now right like all right so like I said you're under arrest the reason being is because we have a witness we have a witness saying that you brandished that firearm at them in a road rad in road rage incident okay I don't a witness cooperate I don't have okay that's that's fine we're going to be getting her statement as well okay okay is this just a detainment or no this is a this is an arrest arrested him because he's been accused of brandishing a firearm obviously I did find a firearm in the vehicle here's your ID back did find a firearm in the vehicle that meets the description of the firearm that was brandished at him in a road rage incident that happened back at the porder patrol checkpoint this story matches up with what the vehicle the the blue Jeep that so what are they saying because when we got into the line for the Border Station the blue c was just sitting in the line right so we went around him and we went through the Border Station and then when we came out he cut in front of us and stopped on his brakes okay so that's go ahead what they're saying is prior to the boorder patrol checkpoint is that he cut them off and then you guys went through the border patrol checkpoint and then they attempted to go in front and get by and then he brandished a firearm at him that meets the description of the firearm that was in the glove box that I found he wants his cell phone can I get the cell phone oh you want him to get it please adise where they want to set up if I get their first all advice than like I said he's only being charged at this time and being put into to jail at this time he's going to be at Luna County Detention Center in daming that's where you can find out uh he's going to have have to speak to a judge but it's early in the morning he can still speak to a judge today then he'll get some sort of conditions of release a bond or anything like that okay but like I said it's going to be Luna County Detention Center all right like I said he's only being charged and then after that it's a court process okay is there anything Keys the keys yeah they're on the hood I'm going to give them to you right now and his wallet okay okay all right yes give transported Mr Simpson to the Deming State Police office for processing before taking him to the Luna County Detention Center 7 months later Mr Simpson failed to appear resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest 121 back on that SE with 1 10 15 * [Music] 1
