Around 12:12 PM on August 10, 2026, Officers Vincent Conti, Anthony Ricerca, and Olivia DiFulco with the Scotch Plains Police Department arrived at the residence of Gabrielle Gilles to execute a warrant for her arrest. Gabrielle is currently running as a Republican candidate for the Scotch Plains Township Council. The night prior, Officer Kobe White, the son of Democratic Councilman Roshan White, was dispatched to a call involving an alleged domestic dispute between Gabrielle Gilles and her baby daddy. The baby daddy later made allegations of assault, and based on his allegations, Officer White signed a complaint and affidavit of probable causing that led to the subsequent arrest of Gabrielle. The officers made contact with Gabrielle at her residence, and she was cooperative with the officers throughout the process. She was escorted to the patrol car, placed in handcuffs, and transported to the Scotch Plains Police Department for further processing. At the station, she was photographed, fingerprinted, and advised of her charges. After the officers finished processing Gabrielle, she was booked into the Union County Jail pending her appearance before a judge. She was charged with Simple Assault (2C:12-1A(1)). Gabrielle was eventually released from the jail pending her court appearance. As of September 8, 2026, Gabrielle's case is still pending in court. A search of voter registration data reveals that Gabrielle was previously registered to vote as an unaffiliated voter before later changing her party registration to Republican. The other 3 residents who are registered to vote at the same address are Gaelle Gilles, Kenyata Gilles, and Verdin Gilles, and they are all registered Democrats. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). (P.L. 2024, c.16). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
