Police bodycam footage from San Antonio, Texas: a driver crashes his car into Woodlawn Lake, and when a Park Police officer runs down to check on him he climbs out holding a knife and walks straight at her. This police bodycam footage from the San Antonio Police Department shows the officer-involved shooting at Woodlawn Lake Park from Officer Kimberly Alonso's body camera, from the crash in the reeds to the standoff on the walking trail. Real bodycam footage, no narration added - the officer's own commands and the department's critical incident briefing carry the video. WHAT HAPPENED February 15, 2025, about 12:30 PM. A car drives erratically across the walking trail at Woodlawn Lake Park, 100 block of N. Josephine Tobin Drive, and ends up nose-down in the reeds at the water's edge. Park Police Officer Kimberly Alonso, nine years with SAPD, is sent to a major accident and runs across the park expecting an injured driver. As she reaches the car, 30-year-old Chase Deckard-Thomas climbs out holding a knife. He ignores repeated commands to drop it and keeps walking toward her. She backs away across the grass and onto the trail with her weapon drawn; he raises the knife and keeps coming, and she fires two rounds. OUTCOME Deckard-Thomas was hit twice. Officers began life-saving care on the trail, and he was taken to the hospital in critical condition and survived. No officers or bystanders were injured. He was charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer. Officer Alonso was placed on administrative duty, and the Bexar County District Attorney's Office reviews the shooting, as with every SAPD officer-involved shooting.
