Watch this police interrogation with intense raw interrogation from the interrogation room as police conduct a full interrogation of a suspect. This raw interrogation footage captures every moment of the suspect interview, complete with deception detection techniques, and criminal psychology in true JCS style interrogation. The Background People: Wade Allen, then 35, of Sturgis; Kelly-Jien Warner-Miller, 42, his on-again, off-again girlfriend of several years. She was a mother and grandmother and had previously stayed at Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries. Relationship: On-again, off-again partnership. Neighbors later said they had heard the couple fight. Prosecutors later described a longer pattern of physical abuse toward Warner-Miller and prior partners. Motive as reported to police: An acquaintance identified as “Steven” told dispatch that Allen said Warner-Miller “kind of got mouthy,” that Allen backhanded her, and that he “accidentally killed her.” In jail, Allen later told cellmates he had strangled her. Allen did not admit the killing in court and said he never wanted her to die. The Crime When / where: Death occurred in early May 2019 (police said she had been dead about two weeks before discovery). Location: Allen’s apartment on the 200 block of North Maple Street, Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan. What happened: After her death, Allen kept the body in a bathtub for a time, then dismembered the remains and stored them in coolers in the apartment. He asked the acquaintance to help dispose of the remains; that person refused and later called authorities. Discovery date: Evening of May 22, 2019, after a 911 tip. Allen was arrested the same day. The Investigation Tip: A caller identifying himself as “Steven,” who said he had known Allen about 10 years, reported that Allen had killed Warner-Miller, dismembered her, put the remains in a cooler, and asked for help disposing of them. Allen’s statements to police: He denied she was there, said she was in Kalamazoo, initially refused entry because the apartment was “a mess,” and, when asked about a cooler, said he was getting ready for summer. Search: Officers entered after telling him he would be held outside while they sought a warrant. A cooler in the living room contained remains; a later warrant search recovered remains in two coolers. Defense challenged the warrantless look as unconstitutional. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed that the evidence was admissible under the inevitable-discovery rule (a warrant would have issued and the remains would have been found). Jail conduct: While awaiting trial, Allen told cellmates he had strangled Warner-Miller. After learning they reported that, he sexually assaulted one cellmate on Oct. 7, 2020, when they were housed together. Competency: He spent time in jail and psychiatric facilities and was found competent to stand trial. The case was handled by the Michigan Attorney General because the county prosecutor had previously represented Allen. Conviction and Sentencing Plea: Jan. 30, 2023, the day before trial was set to begin. No-contest (nolo contendere) pleas to second-degree homicide, attempted dismemberment and mutilation of a body, and attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Sentencing: June 1, 2023, before St. Joseph County Circuit Judge Paul Stutesman. Per the Michigan Attorney General: 39–60 years for second-degree homicide 2–5 years for attempted dismemberment and mutilation 38 months–5 years for attempted third-degree CSC, consecutive to the homicide sentence Credit for 1,470 days already served. Restitution for burial expenses, court costs, and fines. Lifetime Michigan sex-offender registration. Local court reporting sometimes listed the homicide term as 37½–60 years; the official AG release states 39–60 years. true crime, law and crime network, interrogation, interrogation analysis, red thread interrogations, interrogation jcs inspired, interrogation jcs style, interrogation psychology, interrogation psychology jcs inspired, new interrogations 2026,interrogation breakdown, police interrogation psychology, bodycam, interview, case analysis, bodycam footage, crime investigation, police interrogation, suspect interview, int, interrogations 2026,interrogation videos, jcs true crime
