On February 12, 2023, Minocqua (Wisconsin) Police Officer Lovdal observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Officer Lovdal initiated a traffic stop and was able to detect the odor of alcohol coming from the 22-year-old female driver. She admitted to consuming alcohol and she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). After the FSTs, she was asked to blow into a portable breathalyzer, but despite numerous attempts, she could not provide enough breath to activate the device. She was arrested for DUI and taken to a local emergency room for a blood draw. She was ultimately charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired with a passenger under the age of 16 in the vehicle and Speeding. On May 30, 2023, as the result of a plea agreement, she pled guilty to OWI. The enhancement of having a passenger under 16 in the car was dropped, as well as the Speeding charge. She was fined $843 plus court costs and fees and her license was suspended for 7 months.
