On February 21, 2025, at 3:50 a.m., Anchorage police were alerted to a suspicious truck parked outside the Hampton Inn on West Tudor Road. What started as a routine check quickly spiraled into a life-or-death hostage situation when officers discovered 41-year-old Puipuia Alaelua had barricaded himself inside a hotel room — armed, unstable, and holding a woman and her four children hostage. As officers tried to make contact, Alaelua opened fire through the door — twice — forcing them to retreat and call in SWAT. Over the next several hours, crisis negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation, but tensions exploded when police surveillance showed Alaelua physically struggling with the woman inside the room. What follows is intense, real bodycam footage of a high-risk hostage rescue as SWAT moves in to save the trapped family. With the lives of four children and one adult woman at stake, officers are forced to act fast under extreme pressure. 🟡 Watch until the end for the complete update on everyone involved.
