On July 23, 2023, in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, an on duty officer observed a vehicle go through a roped-off parking lot. Due to this odd maneuver, a traffic stop was initiated. It was noted that the officer recognized the driver from previous professional contacts. It was apparent to the officer that the driver, named Elizabeth, was intoxicated and she was asked if she would participate in field sobriety tests. She declined. Because of this, she was placed under arrest. She was uncooperative at first and did not allow the officer to hand cuff her, but her passenger helped to calm her down to the point where she was hand cuffed and put in the back of the squad car. She continued yelling and blaming other people for her actions. Elizabeth was transported to the hospital for an evidentiary blood draw where she continued being uncooperative with officers and hospital staff. She spat on an officer after thinking the officer "hit her in the face" with their body camera. Eventually officers and staff were able to get a sample of Elizabeth's blood. The sample indicated she had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.23, nearly triple the legal limit. She was charged with OWI, 4th offense, resisting or obstructing an officer, and 2 counts of felony bail jumping.
