Around 12:18 AM on December 7, 2024, Corporal Luis Blasco with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office observed a black 2020 Land Rover swerving across the white fog line on Southern Boulevard in the vicinity of Benoit Farms Road. He initiated a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over. He exited the his patrol car and made contact with the driver of the Land Rover, who was identified as 23-year-old Katelyn Damelio. As he was speaking with Katelyn, he noticed that her eyes were watery and observed indicators of impairment. Deputy Dylan Snelgrove arrived on scene to assist, and Katelyn was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. She told the Deputy that she was coming from the Palm Beach Polo & Country Club. He was able to administer the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, but Katelyn refused further field sobriety testing. Based on the odor of alcohol, her erratic driving, and her unwillingness to perform all field sobriety exercises, Deputy Snelgrove told Katelyn that she was being placed under arrest for DUI. Katelyn was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail for further processing. At the jail, she agreed to submit breath samples. Her breath test results indicated BAC levels of 0.198% and 0.193%, which were more than double the legal limit of 0.08%.
