This is the chilling first chapter of one of Missouri’s darkest true crime stories. In this unfiltered video, Gary Muehlberg—later named The Package Killer—begins to reveal the horrifying truth behind a series of murders that haunted St. Louis in the early 1990s. Initially convicted in 1993 for the murder of a man, Muehlberg lived for decades behind bars before DNA evidence finally linked him to the murders of at least four women. What you’re about to witness is real interrogation footage where Gary slowly begins to confess, one victim at a time. Detectives in this case didn’t break him with brute force—they used strategy, psychology, and time. Muehlberg, already serving a life sentence and facing failing health, had little left to lose. Detectives used that reality to their advantage, reminding him that he wouldn’t live long enough to face the death penalty. As Gary reflects on his crimes, he opens the door to decades-old cold cases that had remained unsolved and unexplained—until now. Known for disposing of his victims in containers and leaving them in public places, Muehlberg earned the media nickname The Package Killer. His confessions expose a calm, calculated predator who masked himself behind an ordinary life—serving in the Army, earning a degree in psychology, and even working as a teacher. But beneath the surface was a manipulative, violent offender who preyed on the vulnerable. These videos offer a rare and disturbing look into the mind of a real serial killer as he speaks in his own words. This is Part 1 of a multi-part series featuring raw, uncut confession tapes, each one peeling back the layers of deceit that allowed Gary Muehlberg to go undetected for so long.
