On February 11, 2026, the Rio Rancho Police Department received a call about the driver of a Chevy Tahoe. The reporting party advised that the Tahoe was driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic lanes, and was unable to maintain a consistent lane of travel. Officer Beck located the Tahoe. He observed the Tahoe remain stationary for 30 seconds at a green light despite unobstructed roadway conditions. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 54-year-old woman. She was asked to step out of her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After her dismal performance on the tests, she was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station where she refused to provide breath samples. She was charged with (1) Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence (2nd Offense) Refusal to Test; (2) Failure to Maintain Traffic Lanes; and (3) Operation of Vehicle on Approach of Emergency Vehicle. Her case is still open and her next court date is July 7, 2026. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
