When officers arrived, 26-year-old Eduardo Trejo De Arcos let them inside. Minutes later, he was dead. Officer Eric Rose, a 13-year veteran of the Idaho Falls Police Department, Firearms Instructor, and active SWAT operator, shot De Arcos once in the chest after he grabbed a 14-inch knife and advanced on officers following his attempted arrest. In February 2026, Bonneville County Prosecutor Randy Neal reviewed the full investigation and ruled the shooting justified self-defense.
