On November 8, 2023, in Plover, Wisconsin, officers received an anonymous tip stating a man with two active warrants for his arrest was driving a dark colored Chevrolet Impala with a provided license plate. Using a license plate reader program, officers were notified that a camera had caught the provided license plate driving near a local Walmart. On duty officers located the vehicle with the provided registration and initiated an arrest. The man in the drivers seat, named Spencer, was immediately uncooperative and did not get out of the vehicle when asked by officers. This lead to officers breaking the drivers side door glass and subsequently a K-9 was lifted into the car to assist in getting Spencer to cooperate. Eventually, officers were able to get Spencer out of the vehicle. He was taken to the ground and arrested before being placed in the back of a squad car. Officers swept up the broken glass before the canine performed a free air sniff of the vehicle. The canine indicated a positive identification on the vehicle for controlled substances. The vehicle was searched and two empty Suboxone packages were located, no other items of worthy of evidence were located. Some time after, a woman with a cart full of groceries came out to the car and asked what was going on. Officers learned that the car was hers, not Spencer's. She was informed of what occurred and was given possession of the car. Spencer was medically cleared before being taken to the county jail without further incident. He was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer but the charge was dismissed on the prosecutor's motion. ❓Inquiries: LensOfLaw@gmail.com ☕Support Me: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lensoflaw 🔗My Links: https://lensoflaw.com The content we highlight is designed to provide a real-life glimpse into the encounters of law enforcement, not to demean or belittle those featured.
