It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: A car crashed late on March 27, 2023. Patrolman Evan Sicknick answered the call. He found a car stuck in the woods. The driver had run a stop sign. This sent her straight into the trees. The officer met the driver. She was 19-year-old Nadia. Two young kids were in the car. Nadia said she kept going. She did not stop at the sign. Officers saw she seemed impaired. They asked her to do some tests. She tried the Walk and Turn. She could not walk heel-to-toe. She turned the wrong way. Her arms flailed for balance. Next, the One Leg Stand. She could not lift her foot right. She put it down too soon. They asked her to say the alphabet. She could not do it well. Another officer gave her the eye test. Because of the crash and bad test results, Patrolman Sicknick arrested Nadia. She was charged with drunk driving. Her car was towed. It would be held for 12 hours. Sicknick took Nadia to the police station. At the station, Nadia heard the rules. She agreed to a breath test. Her blood alcohol level was 0.19%. This was over twice the legal limit. For drivers under 21, it was 19 times the legal limit. After testing, she was fingerprinted and photographed. She then went to the hospital. This was due to some concerning things she said. Patrolman Sicknick cited Nadia for several things. She faced charges for drunk driving. She also got tickets for reckless and careless driving. She was also cited for running a stop sign. Nadia also faced criminal charges. She was accused of endangering two minors. These were the passengers in her car. Later, on January 3, 2024, Nadia was found guilty. She was convicted of driving while drunk. She had to attend a program for drunk drivers for 12 hours. An ignition device was put in her car for 9 months. She also paid $690 in fines. Other tickets were dropped as part of a deal. Records show Nadia had prior drunk driving arrests. She was arrested in Middletown on January 13, 2023. Before that, she was arrested in Barnegat on December 2, 2022. After this incident, Nadia was charged with shoplifting on January 31, 2024.
