On August 16, 2023, Kent Washington Police responded to Target on the report of a shoplifter. Police confronted the woman in the front of the store. Loss Prevention told the police that the woman had jewelry and underwear concealed in her handbag. The woman voluntarily opened her handbag which revealed a bunch of merchandise with the tags still on. Police told her that she was under arrest and she attempted to flee. She only made it about 20 feet before officers tackled her to the ground. Target Loss Prevention then notified police that they suspected the woman was responsible for 8 other shoplifting sprees. She claimed that she had just been released from jail and she begged to not have to go back.
