He pulled it over near Byrom Street and Park Avenue. The driver stepped out. She turned out to be 27-year-old Destanie Heslar. While talking to her, the sergeant smelled alcohol. He noticed signs of impairment too. Soon, Deputy Henry Hancock showed up. He began a DUI probe right away. The officers suspected she was drunk. They asked her to do field sobriety tests. That's when she said she worked as a correctional officer. Deputy Hancock kicked off with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He saw no smooth eye tracking. There was clear jerking at the edge of her gaze. It started before 45 degrees too. Next came the Walk and Turn. Destanie missed heel-to-toe steps. Her turn was all wrong. The last test was One Leg Stand. She couldn't lift her foot right. With the wild driving, the booze smell, those impairment clues, and her failed tests, Deputy Hancock arrested her for DUI. In the patrol car, she kept repeating her job as a correctional officer. They took her to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office for booking. At the jail, she skipped the breath test. Officers charged her under DUI law 316.193.1a. She got out on a $500 bond, waiting for court. 5:40 More sophisticated ? 19:32 Stop arguing n DO THE DAMN TEST! " I've been GOOD all my life....
