On May 17, 2025, at approximately 11:21 PM, Officer Ibrahim Talib with the Pullman Police Department observed a black 2015 Chevrolet Cruze driving without headlights in the vicinity of E Main Street and N Grand Avenue. He activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over at N Grand Avenue and NE Whitman Street. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, and she was eventually identified as Tatum Dahlin. As he was speaking with Tatum, Officer Talib detected the odor of alcohol and observed an open container of Twisted Tea inside the vehicle. She admitted to consuming 1 or 2 drinks about an hour earlier. Based on his suspicion of impairment, he asked Tatum to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises after additional officers arrived on scene to assist. Officer Talib started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Talib observed the lack of smooth pursuit and distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, (4/6 indicators). The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Tatum failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. Following the field sobriety exercises, Tatum was offered the opportunity to submit to a PBT. The PBT results indicated a BAC level of 0.148%. Based on her indicators of impairment, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, and the results of the PBT, Officer Talib placed Tatum under arrest for driving under the influence. Around this time, she told the officers that she had previously been arrested for DUI in Idaho. After she was placed in handcuffs, Tatum was transported to the Pullman Police Department for further processing. At the Pullman Police Department, Tatum agreed to submit breath samples. Her first breath samples indicated BAC levels of 0.139 (IR) and 0.141 (EC). Her second breath samples indicated BAC levels of 0.135 (IR) and 0.137 (EC), which were almost double the legal limit of 0.08%. Since this was her second DUI arrest, it was determined that she would be booked into the Whitman County Jail. She was transported to the jail in Colfax, WA and subsequently booked. She was charged with DUI in violation of RCW 46.61.502. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting our channel (email us for more information).
